This resort was formerly called Sandbanks Summer Village. Now, the signs everywhere on the property say East Lake Shores, and that is the company with which we booked.
It consists of many small cottages, each with two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms, a sitting area with tv, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a dining area.
It is perfect for extended families: each branch of the family can stay in a different cottage in the same area, have some privacy and downtime there, but get together for meals and activities.
This was our fourth visit to this property. This time we went in September, which is a great time to visit. The pool was still open, and the boats (kayaks and canoes) were available, but the whole property was not crowded.
The place is very kid-friendly, with a basketball court, a small playground, the pool, and the small beach.
Our cottage was impeccably clean, and fairly well equipped. There are only a small number of plates and cutlery, so it is necessary to wash them sometimes. You can stack the dishwasher, but only two dishwasher pods are provided.
There is a washer and dryer, which are quite handy.
The bathrooms are small and minimalist, but adequate.
Every cottage, I believe, has a screened porch. The one on our cottage was especially large and overlooked wonderful woods.
There are many nature trails on the property, which seem well maintained but little used; I recommend them.
Don't expect a view of East Lake, unless you want to pay extra to stay in one of the few cottages along the lake front. Even those provide no direct lake access; you have to walk down the laneway to the water.
The beach is small and stony. Bring water shoes. This year, the water level in the lake was so low that the resort did not even put out their two docks and diving platform.
There are fire pits that you can use.
Be aware that the cottages are quite close together; you are seldom out of sight of other people. However, we have found that the occupants are mostly very considerate and the resort is quiet.

We have been going to East Lake Shores (previously Sandbanks Summer Village) for 3 years, were big promoters and brought friends with us the last 2 times we went.

However we were really disappointed this year. The cottage was all dirty upon our arrival and management seemed not to care as they never came after several calls/e-mail/reception walk-ins. Also this year there was a water boiling advisory for our whole stay as they could not seemed to be able to fix a filter. Not that big of a deal but It was deeply annoying and not what you would expect for a cottage resort of that price, and again management seemed not to care. I have also attached a picture of what the dishes/glasses looked like when we arrived.

In the past also there used to be a lot of animation / activities for the kids, now there was none.

It is really not the place we used to love. If you are going only one family (in one cottage only) there is absolutely no reason to book there. If you are a group of families there might still be a reason to go there but you should be ready to overpay and make sure to lower you comfort/cleanliness expectations.

The facilities and accommodations were okay but we lost at least a day because one son got sick and the other got a mosquito bite on his eye that swelled up, causing the eye to shut for a day. We decided to make up for that by staying an extra day but we were charged more for that day than the other days despite the rates on the web site being the same. When I got my credit card bill a few weeks after we got home, I emailed the office and asked about the discrepancy. No response. I sent two more emails and left one phone message but am still waiting for someone to get back to me on the matter.

Our family of 4 stayed at East Lake Shores in a cozy cottage at the resort. There was plenty of space for all of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers) The cottage was outfitted with everything we needed. The cottage was clean upon arrival. The resort had Basketball, tennis and trails for us all to do together. Both the adults and kids pool were amazing and the sunsets were breathtaking at the beach. We even fished off the dock! We were able to pop into Picton for any shopping we wanted to do just a few mins away and we visit sandbanks during our stay with complimentary passes. We will be back next summer for sure!

Over priced!!!
It felt as if we were travelling back in time to the 90’s.
Flimsy wifi, Old Tv with DVD and Cassettes, no options for family movie night when it’s raining outside.
Very basic cottage.
Nice beach and water equipment.

-We made a reservation at 24 Meadowview Lane which description on the web says: Exterior: Covered Porch, which is not the case.
-We arrived at around 8:00 pm on July 10th. Front desk was closed and no info posted on the door as to whom to call or where to go. A telephone number is available at the gate but it refers to emergencies, not check in.
-We were given a gate card which did not work. We used a code all week long.
-The housekeeping at the cottage could have been better. Windows are filthy with dead bugs, dishwasher was not emptied, cleaning hastily done in the bathroom.
-We borrowed kayaks at the boat house. The gentleman gave us 4 paddles, 2 emergency kits (for 3 kayaks) and then went back in the boat house. No mention of which kayaks were ours to take and that we should try out life jackets ourselves (as opposed to a previous visit where the staff provided us with all of the equipment needed).
-We arrived at the Sandbanks Provincial Park with proof of our online reservation. We were told at the entrance that we needed to show our Provincial Park Pass, which should have been given to us by the resort. So, we had to drive back to the front desk and ask for it.

In addition:

-At check-in: I’m quite certain clients would appreciate to receive all of the info needed at once i.e., correct code for the gate, gate card that was tested, keys AND Provincial Park Pass (review client reservation and file ahead of time). You may also think of providing clients with a free Sandbanks brochure and map to basic information (where is the closest grocery store, pharmacy, etc.);
-You might want to think about selling firewood on site which would make it easy for clients (read kids) to enjoy evenings with marshmallows at the fire pits;
-At check-out: a simple “Did you enjoy your stay? We wish you a safe trip” would go a long way.

*** All that being said, we enjoyed our vacation!!! Resort is nice (pool, tennis courts, kayaks, bocci ball, putting green, ping pong, etc, and beach is awsome at the Provincial Park.
