We were supposed to be in the inn but ended up relegated to a room behind the inn in the motel strip. It was spacious enough but very tired and the colour combination of peacock blue walls and burnt orange sheets was hard on my eyes. The pillows were dreadful, the internet connection unreliable and the amenities scarce. I did,... More

Just returned from spending a long weekend here, for boyfriend's birthday. Our stay was perfect and we had absolutely no complaints! Customer service was great. We arrived late on our first night (after midnight), and we called ahead to let them know. They were super accommodating and gave us clear instructions, and we had no issues finding the place and... The service was good, but a kiddie size cone is...$4.25 or $4.50! I got biscoff...it was creamy ang good. My friend got chocolate hazelnut and said it was good but expensive! This is a very old building with local history connected to it!

We had to wait for the only employee to finish her ice cream sale before being waited on. The photo online through which we booked showed an inn, not the outdated, tacky hotel behind the main building where our rooms were located. This place may have been okay in the 1960's but I don't think much updating has happened since... More

Stayed here a few years ago - great experience! Stopped while on a day trip to have some of the FABULOUS homemade ice cream. Worth a trip to Watkins Glen for that alone! Great selection, very fair prices and the serving size was much larger than anticipated (a single scoop was plenty!)

Although we did not stay at this hotel we were super impressed with the staff and the owner regarding being personal and had top notch customer service skills. We stopped by for some ice cream to find out this little gem of a place makes there own ice cream and also has vegan ice cream. I had strawberry and raspberry.... More

The location of this place is perfect. However, for the price, our room was dirty. The bathroom drain was clogged and the rug was nasty. I had to take the prior tenants soap out of the shower and the air conditioner filter needed to be cleaned. It was dirty and smelled of mildew. We have stayed here before and it... More

We have been there the night of 08/23/2016 with my wife and 2 kids. For USD 150 a night for a double room we were expecting a nice, little charming hotel, in a nice area. Well it is located right on Main Street and our room was old, dirty and simply a shame. Carpet hadn't been cleaned for ages, chairs... More

Annually I travel to Watkins Glen and stay at the Colonial Inn and Motel. Always clean fresh and enjoyable. He now has a small bar where he serves locally made beers. A nice surprise. Never any issues here and right downtown within waling distance to Seneca Lake or to the Glen itself. A wonderful walk if you have never done... More

Delicious, delicious, delicious is all I can say about the homemade ice cream we enjoyed here on a tour around the town. Pleasant service and amazing value for the exquisite dessert that will be on my Top 10 Ice Creams of My Life So Far list :)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Colonial Inn & Motel, perfectly located in downtown Watkins Glen, where quality and value meet beautiful and spectacular scenery. We provide a comfortable and restful place for a great night's sleep. Start your morning with a complimentary cup of "Witches Brew" coffee from Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters. Now start your day. We are a few minutes walking distance from a wide variety of sight-seeing and other traditional vacation opportunities including the world famous Watkins Glen State Park, also known as "The Gorge" and its beautiful 19 waterfalls. Conveniently located near other major attractions such as Seneca Lake boat tours, local wineries and their vineyards, Nascar Sprint Cup, Watkins Glen International speedway racing, and more. Check out the 2014 New York's Finger Lakes Region Travel Guide for more ideas (we are featured on page 21). Bit.Ly/2014TravelGuide This historic motel is an excellent choice for families, business travelers, or those simply road-tripping through the Finger Lakes wine country on a budget. The main building was built in the 1880s and still retains a lot of its vintage charm. The back rooms were added in 1950s and also retain the classic mid-century look and decor of a more peaceful and restful time. (We still use metal keys, not plastic key cards). We are more than a simple B&B resort. We provide free Wi-Fi and free parking, but the secret of our success is our attention to detail to provide clean rooms and a hospitable atmosphere at an affordable price. You will find our staff enthusiastic and courteous with your comfort and pleasure our priority. We offer late check-in, and are open to drop-ins when available. Oh, and while in Watkins Glen, we recommend you try our small batch homemade ice cream, with vegan ice cream. And for our meat eaters, we have our very tasty Beef On Weck sandwich. It has gotten great reviews. We also offer handcrafted pottery, ceramics and other locally created items. You can also view our active beehive and see the honey, if you find the queen bee you get a free small ice cream. ... more   less
