Hostel Vermont

Hostal Vermont is the cheapest, most artistic and laid back place to stay in Osorno, not only cheap, budget accommodation, but also a meeting point for backpackers, independent travelers and artists. Hostal Vermont is perfect for a backpacker looking for inexpensive long-term accommodation or the backpackers at large in search of a cheap youth hostel for just a couple of days. We offer our guests a safe and comfortable environment from which they can organize their adventures of Chile and South America.Owned by an outgoing Chilena, we like to say that staying here is much like staying at a friend's house where you have a comfortable place in which you can rest after a long trip. There are also two new cabins in the back of the Hostel up to four people for the ones that want more privacy. The Hostel has bikes and tents for rents and also offers pick up/drop off from/to the Bus Station and airport in a 1980 Volkswagen Kombi :)

There´s not enough bathrooms, you might have to wait quite a while in the morning when everyone wants to take a shower. They have lockers, but the boards separating the boxes are not secure. In fact, they´re loose and have no screws or nails at all. So these lockers are actually

We spent a night there and, although the people there were nice, the booking.com despcription of the double room (the only double room they have) was misleading, because they offer it with internal shower and it does not have anything internal. Also, our kids froze in the room

Dear Guests: We are sorry to hear that our Hostel didn't fit your needs. We are a little bit disappointed with your comments and sincerely think there might be a misunderstanding because as it is written in our booking site the bathrooms are shared which means there is no inside showers in the double rooms. Also it is written that we don't accept kids, but knowing this; you still went through with the reservation. We made an exception to have your kids stay over and made an effort to give them the warmest room and also gave you a little discount in the total price of both rooms. Finally we would like to say that Hostel rooms are usually pretty basic and we recommend you and all our guests to do some research and read the policies before booking.

Everything you want from a hostel, cozy spaces, nice people, and a great kitchen. Seriously, tons of spices, pots and pans that look like they haven't been used for science experiments, and even an oven that works. You can catch a bus or colectivo down Errazuriz. Just get off by

Very nice old wooden house (like most houses in Osorno). Very cozy. Staff were amazing (volunteer Stephanie, Sylvia, and the owner (she has a beautiful greek name that I can't recall right now]) were all so friendly and treated us just like family after only 2 days. Good wifi

Hostel Vermont is about 10 blocks from the bus terminal and in the opposite direction from town. There are tons of hostels much closer to everything that are nicer and less expensive. Our room was alright and the bed was comfortable but the linens and blanket were filthy. We

Dear Guests, We are sorry to hear that our Hostel didn't fit your needs. We want to mention that we are a little confused because the staff and/or owner doesn't have any children, there might have been another guest or somebody else visiting the hostel with their rambunctious children; unfortunately we don't have the facilities to have children staying over; that is why we always suggest our guests that have kids to stay somewhere else. About our pets; as it is advertised in our website, we encourage our guests to stay with us only if they like them because we have two of them and they are a little bit spoiled. Finally we want you to bear in mind that we are the "only" backpacker's hostel in Osorno, the other ones that you mention are not hostels, they are hospedajes and/or residenciales and they might be cheaper, but they don't have bilingual staff, a fully equipped kitchen available, wifi/internet, etc. We kindly recommend you and all our guests to do a little bit of research before booking, we are not a luxurious hotel, we are just a small hostel that offers the basics that includes a bed, a warm shower, a kitchen, internet/wifi and plenty of info about the area.

"I would not trust the "booking.com" description of the rooms."
"The beds in the dorm have a good size, never saw such big beds in a hostel. We had the double room, was also good size and the mattress was nice. But in the afternoon the sun hits the double room and you will need a fan, but it can be provided."
