Wish I could have stayed here more than just one night. Everything about the posada was great — lovely setting, comfortable room, friendly atmosphere and very welcoming staff, plenty of room to cook. Located walking distance from town but nicely away from the center.

I brought 14 U.S. college students to Hostel de la Viuda in the off-season (April) and we couldn't have had a better experience. Highlights: - super friendly and helpful staff, especially the owner Sebastian - the hostel was *always clean*... seriously, it's like magic - very flexible about two of our group members canceling last-minute - willing to offer us a discounted group rate for the off-season - nice hostel dogs who will accompany you on any adventure, no matter how long - lots of common areas to spread out - lots of bathrooms (also sparking clean) - lots of food and drinks for purchase at reasonable prices - reliable wi-fi The only potential downsides are the flies—if you hate flies, this might not be the hostel for you—and how high they keep the music volume in the main common area. Thank you Sebastian (and everyone else) for a fun 4 nights!

This is a fantastic hostel with a great common area and grounds. There is a backyard with everything you could ever want including a pool, lounge chairs, a viewing tower with several levels and seating, a game room, etc. If you're looking for a place to stay for a while with a great area for hanging out, this is it. The owner is great and goes out of his way to help, including picking up and dropping off at the bus station. There are also lots of seasonal residents on site who work at the hostel in exchange for housing, which has its pluses and minuses depending on what you're looking for. It's also a great perk to be able to drink water from the tap here. The rooms are ok and comfortable enough though things like linens could use an upgrade. Rooms on the second floor are quieter and have shorter waits for the bathrooms since they're not shared with everyone hanging in the common areas, so I would recommend to try to snag one of those. Also, keep in mind that this hostel is a 20-minute walk from the center of town compared to other options closer to the center. If you're planning to go there a lot, I would recommend to bring a headlamp/flashlight as some of the streets are not well lit at night. The beach is a 10 min walk away. WiFi can also be improved a bit...sometimes there are too many people on so it's hard to sign on or it's slow. p.s. There is a functioning ATM in town. We found it ourselves and used it without a problem! For some reason, many locals are not aware of this!

Cheapest hostel in punta del diablo. Best value for price i met yet. Adv: pool, amazing garden, lots of tranquilo areas, bathrooms kitchen and everything are super great. Party hostel with variety of travelers. We had the best time there. Everything is clean, they make dinners, breakfast is included, amazing vibes Dis adv: none besides the fact its pretty far from the beach. They might offer u a ride if needed to pick you up from the bus station and to town.
