The Auberge de la Commanderie is ideally located in the heart of the medieval town with a panoramic view of Saint-Emilion’s monuments and vineyards. It offers the peaceful charm of a family-run hotel. Its warm, cosy atmosphere is filled with memories of travels: pilgrims on their long trek, colourful journeys to far-off lands and crazy adventures. A particular decorative feature in the hotel is the combination of wood and rattan. This wicker furniture calls to mind a different hemisphere in shades of indigo blue. Its presence gives warmth to the bedrooms and lounges and an exotic elegance that makes your stay even more pleasant.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is in a good location. Reception staff were friendly. AC was good, but a little bit noisy.
Sound-proofing is quite poor. We could hear voices from other rooms, not just next-door. The corridor was very noisy.
The cleaning staff made a point of banging the hoover against our door at 09:00. We felt that our “Do Not Disturb” sign was an issue for them, as it would delay them finishing.
WiFi was functional but weak compared to other hotels we have stayed in on this trip.
The grout in the shower was black from about 120cms to the base, but it had the original colour above that.
If you are coming by car, it is best not to try to drive there directly. It’s up a sharp steep right-hand narrow lane from the street. We parked a little further on and brought the bags back to the hotel. The hotel parking was not available when we were there, but the receptionist showed us where there was free parking close by.

The place is in town, close to the cloister, getting high marks for location. It is a 2* property so charm is not a word that comes to mind. It had no bottled water nor coffee making facilities. Staff was helpful. The rooms are on the first and second floor [2d and 3d for North Americans] but there is an elevator. Thee was a companion wing across the road. It was in a quiet area. The room size was fine. There was individual soap and a squeeze bottle in the shower for hair/body wash. My sleep was not good but I do not heavy duvets. The brekkie was on the main floor, costing c 10 euros. It was good The wifi was not password protected. It was annoying it had to be reset every time the computer was shut off. If you need more from a hotel there are other options in town. If you just need a room to tour some of the wineries, it is okay to fine.

Last summer my husband and I travel from our home in Ireland to France to find local wines to bring back. We stayed at Auberge de la Comanderie and found it's locations, warm welcome, absolutely clean room and morning breakfast to be wonderfully served.
We were planning on a repeat trip but due to COVID-19, we will have to forgo this summer.
Next year for sure!
Thank you,
Claudia and Bernard Fallon

A central hotel offering clean, bright, comfortable rooms in the middle of St Emilion.
Staff are helpful and pleasant.
Breakfast of fresh juice, bread, croissants, cheeses, fruit and a boiled egg! Surprisingly delicious !
Air-conditioning in all rooms
Quirky rooms in the annexe building. Ours had a beautiful full height stained glass window.
Excellent value for the price

The hôtel is very well located but what matters the most to me is the bed. 140 cm and too soft. Strong point lovely view of the medieval city directly from your bedroom window. The staff is courteous. Some people say the parking is expensive, yes it is but it allows you to park your car and not worry about it for the rest of your stay. Parking is limited in St Emilion and not free unless you park in some back alley.

Small little B&B in the heart of Saint-Emilion. Very friendly personnel and very helpful. Parking down the street for 15E and breakfast extra for 15E/day. The breakfast is worth it compared to other places. Rooms are comfortably tight but we didn’t stay in the rooms for very long, too much to see. Very clean especially during COVID.

Great boutique hotel in the centre of town, you really can’t get any more central. Only2 stars but deserves more.
Park just 400 metres away on outskirts of town and save on parking fees.
Breakfast recommended!
Air conditioned and very friendly staff, good English spoken.

Cute little hotel right in the middle of town. Gregorie was very helpful. Nice breakfast. We were in a triple across the alley. Very nice. Individual heat control. Very accommodating when we had to change our dates of stay because of the French rail strike.

Although hard to find at the outset, this was a nice choice. Location is right in the center of the village. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was simple but good. Parking was a bit of a challenge but worth the cost in a secure small lot. This was a good value for a great location.

What an amazing hotel that was right in the middle of history, shopping, wine tasting and al with a wonderful view of the cozy streets. The Saint Emilion Monastery was awe-inspiring an beautiful. The view from our room was amazing! The cobbled streets are easy to navigate. Parking can be a problem but walking is easy to and from your car anywhere near the hotel!

we did not look into that. The hotel concierge maybe able to help
Breakfast was very simple and did not offer much. Poached eggs, fruit, bread and cheese. It did not appear many of the restaurants offered breakfast from what I could see. You may want to check some of the other hotels to see what they offer if you are wanting something more substantial. We ate one breakfast at the hotel on the day we left. On the other a.m., we skipped breakfast opting for an early lunch.
The hotel has free parking. I would call the hotel and ask directions. They will save you a spot in the lot. The lot is at the top of the town
