Hotel Apollon is a perfect base as it is a 10 min walk to Europa Park entrance (hotel also had a free shuttle van..very convenient) also a 10 min walk in other direction to Rulantica water world. It is also an hour or so away from many attractions in Black Forest (lakes, woodlands, towns.. ) Free parking at front of hotel or around the back. We had an evening flight to Basel airport (only an hour drive down autobahn from hotel) so checkin was late at 1am..was easy though as we were given safe code to get key from outside building in keybox. Breakfast buffet pleasant...hand sanitiser and spacious dining room...basic offerings but tasty and all you need to start the day. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, nice shower, all very clean. Friendly hotel staff and helpful. Overall a lovely stay, would definitely return.

Really happy with how our holiday went. The staff are very kind and helpful and the hotel is well-managed. At breakfast there is so much to choose from, it is all made fresh and the staff are happy + quick to restock the empty areas at breakfast times. The rooms are very clean with pillows so fluffy and light we always managed to get a great nights sleep. It’s great for when you are going to Europa Park and the hotel is very secure. Overall lovely experience and very impressed.

Brilliant hotel, reception staff very friendly and breakfast (buffet style) was enjoyable to set us up in the morning. There was a bus to Europa Park and then it was a really quick walk home after leaving the park (via Spain if I remember) Only thing to consider is if you’re leaving early hours to catch a train that there isn’t many options to get to train station, we paid a fair bit for a taxi but not the hotel’s fault obviously. Theres a Lidl 5-10 minutes walk away and the Hotel Colosseo has a few good options for dinner, not too costly, with great theming.

We stayed in the daily room which was huge for a hotel room and even had a little balcony. The beds were very comfortable, best nights sleep of our trip. Spacious bathroom also. Hotel very quiet after hours no problems sleeping. Great variety at breakfast including fruit, vege, cereal, breads, deli meats, various cheeses, bakery items, yoghurt, hot items. Spacious dining room with staff on hand. Reception provided helpful advice on how to get around. Very close to shuttle and a supermarket. Highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Europa Park or Rulantica.

We booked "Erzblick" as we did last year but were directed to this hotel. Actually we were absolutely satisfied with everything: the price, location (3 min walking from the parc entrance), breakfast (very good) and the room. I woukld recommend to stay at this hotel.

It has become our family tradition to come to this wonderful hotel in the summer for a few days. Last year, after the school year, I and some of my friends-mothers decided to come here with our elder children, the next year we came here already of whole families - with husbands and all our younger children. This charming hotel where you want to go back again and again. This year we traveled by car and because of traffic jams in Lyon arrived at the hotel at night. When I phoned a few hours before to inform about it, they told me the code by which we were able to get to the hotel and told a phone number which we could call if we can not enter. There was also another situation: we left the hotel very early at 5 am. We closed the door and left the key inside. Then we remembered that we forgot one bag in the room. It was very shameful to disturb, but I called the hotel director, who quickly helped us. Thank you so much. Furthermore, they packed breakfast and fruits for us, so that we could have breakfast later.
The breakfast in the morning is excellent: serving, fresh bread, scrambled eggs, eggs, fruits, honey, milk, cheese, ham, juices, great coffee - all in plenty. In the evenings we had dinners in the hotel restaurant - big portions, fresh meat, very good wine. The prices are very pleasant. The hotel is close to Europa-Park - the location is the best, tickets can be purchased at the hotel. Wi-fi is on each floor just need to enter different passwords and the hotel staff informs about it. Family rooms - very spacious! Very clean and comfortable, modern and well equipped bathroom.
In addition to Europa-Park there are many interesting places to visit, just ask the hotel staff about it and they will answer any of your questions and help you in any situation. Warmly welcoming and helpful.
For us, there is no doubt about which hotel to choose - the choice is obvious!

We stayed for two nights in a family room with 2 adult beds and 2 bunker beds for kids.
10 min drive to Europapark main entrance - maybe 20 min by foot

Positives:
Room was spacious and comfortable.
Man at the desk was flexible - kept the room ready although we checked in late (21:00 hrs)
Hotel reception sells Europapark entry tickets - saves queing at the park entrance
Free carparking at hotel + get free parking tickets for Europapark at the reception
On sunday (restaurant was closed) hotel reception organized a Pizza takeaway for a very reasonable charge

Negatives:
Quality of breakfast could be better - coffee was always cold
No water kettle in the room to make coffee/tea

Having made extensive enquiries about wheelchair access before booking. We turned up having driven from England only to find the Hotel was not wheelchair accessible, the entrance had a massive step to get into the hotel which we could not get over with our electric wheelchair and the room was not accessible. I asked to speak with the manager, the man at reception said he was the manager, to me he looked more like the cleaner and needed a good scrub himself. He showed no interest in our circumstance and said peolple in chairs have been before and get up and walk when they come to steps or when required. Having critisised him for his attitude, needless to say all of a sudden he could not speak English. I must say i have been to Germany several times, and find the people excellent in attitude towards disabilities. This guy was not German and came from a country were they obviously have no disability awareness.

Responded Jan 11, 2014
Dear Guests, Please note that this review is now over 5 Years old. So we are not pleased at all that this guest made such a bad experience with the old management of our Hotel. Please note that in the last years we have done a lot for the wheelchair acceess in our house. So for the actual moment every person with a wheelchair has a barrier-free access to our Hotel, Restaurant, Toilets and of course we also have a barrier-free rooms in our house. Best Regards Hotel Apollon Team

This is really an exceptional choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel near Europa Park. All advantages with no disadvantages! Prime location! In the morning one can walk to the park entrance or take the frequent shuttle right from the hotel. In the evening, or during the day if you wish to take a break, exit the park from the secondary exit in Spain area (train inside the park has a station there) and get directly to the hotel (if you have validated tickets for the day you can also enter from there back to the park). Europa park "formal hotels" are situated just next to Hotel Apollon so you can understand the primary location of this hotel. A supermarket is just across the street, which is also a big plus.

The room is spacious and comfortable. Air condition worked perfectly (and it was hot outside!). Bathroom had everything needed. The shower floor surface is a bit slippery so make sure to ask for a rubber mat if this sort of thing bothers you. Housekeeping swiftly brought us one as soon as we asked for it. Free parking is available in front of the hotel or in the back yard.

Breakfast was excellent. This hotel also has an excellent restaurant. We ate dinner there and it was great. Both food and service. Advance reservation is recommended.

And I must praise the management and staff of this hotel! Professional, efficient, courteous and they give you a strong feeling they really care (so no wonder everything is functioning so perfectly in this hotel).
