After a few days on the the road we felt like a bit of luxury, we didn't know of the Empyre Hotel but when my partner looked inside we booked in ASAP. I was ready for a soak in the tub so the Albion Suite it was. What a great night, a short walk to a selection of good eateries....

My husband and I stayed for one night in the sumptuously decorated Albion Suite with access to the beautiful balcony overlooking the street. Tony was a very welcoming and friendly host. It was very quiet, warm and cosy. Breakfast in the private 'bar' was cooked to order and very filling and homely. Would definitely stay here again!

This was our second visit to the Empyre, the last 2 years ago. An overnight stay in the best room in the house, the Empyre Suite. Our hosts, Tony and Angela Forrest, were absolutely delightful, caring and oh so funny. This boutique and totally renovated hotel is a gem, wonderful room with access to a large balcony that overlooks the...

What a lovely, cosy and friendly small hotel in the heart of Castlemaine. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and always ready with information, our room was fabulous, the bed very comfortable, plenty of space, and we greatly enjoyed sitting out on the large balcony. Breakfast was very good and made the most of a small menu of cooked food...

My wife and l stayed for one extremely pleasant night at the Empyre. Although a hotel, apart from breakfast, it doesn't serve food but it is extremely close to many good eateries. The Empyre itself is a little gem. It does not have many rooms, and we stayed in the Maguire suite. It was quite generous in size although I...

Spent a night in this magnificently restored hotel in historic Castlemaine which is teeming with Victorian gold rush architecture. The hotel boasts a lounge with wide range of reading material, private garden and a grand balcony overlooking central township. A first rate experience highly recommend.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at the Empyre Hotel from the the first phone call to check out. Although not really a family hotel, Tony was happy to accommodate my husband and me- and our two year old by recommending a suitable room for us all. We stayed in the Empyre Room which has direct verandah access. I have...

Empyre Hotel felt special right from the friendly phone call booking. Rooms furnished with antique European and Asian furniture have big very comfortable beds with modern bathrooms. One of the two rooms booked opened on to the upstairs balcony which was a delightful spot to relax with drinks in the early evening. While the Empyre offers bed and breakfast accommodation...

Good service, friendly owners, breakfast was great, rooms were full of antiques, but the bathrooms were modern and lovely. We had the Empyre Suite and the Albion Suite - which gave us the entire upstairs balcony to sit on at sundown. Just lovely.

Stayed in the Empyre room – originally booked the Garden Room (on ground floor) and was upgraded to the Empyre room upstairs, with a lovely verandah. Only downside for this room are the very narrow, steep stairs to get to it – you need to be fairly fit. My husband bounced up and down them, while I toiled up and...
