#5 of 37 Speciality lodging in Denmark
The Floating Forest retreat is just over a kilometre to town, in 30 acres of Tingle and Karri Forest. We have 5 beautiful cabins for couples and singles, all with inlet and forest views. Our newly refurbished Jarrah House has 2 bedrooms and can accommodate either 2,3 or 4 adults.

Property's Favourite Review
We stayed for three nights in the Wood cabin - the view from every window was lovely (lots of natural light which was great) and the cabin was bright, modern and very comfortable. The wood fire was great (there is a reverse cycle heater also), we bought extra firewood in town as we used the fire every night. The bathroom was really modern and included a lovely free standing bath. The location was fantastic as it was only a few minute drive into town, but the accommodation is private and surrounded by trees (you can also see the water when it is clear). The kitchen was well equipped for simple meals. The furniture was all very comfortable and modern. We really enjoyed the stay and will stay again.

3 days spent here was absolutely wonderful. It was quiet and private. We stayed in the Earth cabin as it was the only one available. Initially I would have picked another as they are newer, but upon staying here I think we picked the best for our needs. The birdlife is simply amazing. Each morning we had robins, fairy wrens, finches, lorrikeets literally on our doorstep. It was such a delight to sit on the deck and watch these birds. it was very cold one night and the hosts gave us some firewood which was appreciated. Has all the equipment you need, just note that the BBQ is a flat bbq not the one in the picture with the hood. Would definitely stay again if in this part of the world

We stayed in Tinsel cottage and moved over to Wood to extend our stay. The cottages are super clean and well equipped. The host was very warm and welcoming and even organised for us to stay an extra night. I highly recommend staying here.

Probably my favourite place we stayed on our entire two week trip of WA. In fact, the accomodation itself could pass as a sufficient holiday location (but it would be a shame to miss out on what Denmark has to offer). The property is located on a significantly sized block of land (its absolutely massive and feels like its own town completely separate to Denmark), and has stunning views overlooking William Bay. The host, Andy, was extremely friendly and gave us some great advice. The apartment itself is modern, clean, well proportioned and excellently fit out (including a BBQ on the balcony, fridge and oven). For those who like kangaroos there is also no shortage of opportunities to see them on-site! It is excellently located at only a short two minute drive into the town. I also highly recommend Denmark Gelato and Pasta in town, the large pasta for $18 was delicious (and well sized) and the gelato was also excellent.

Our first time to Denmark and we weren't sure if there'd be enough to do in the area, so we booked 4 nights at the Floating Forest. The only remaining cabin available (last minute booking) was "Jarrah House" - the largest of the cabins on the property ... recently refurbished (some bits still smelt of new paint), we do however suspect it is the oldest of the buildings on the plot. We would have booked one of the smaller cabins if these had been available. It's a large house - perfect for up to 4 adults ... we were just a couple and booked for 2, so the 2nd smaller bedroom was locked. Floating Forest is self-catering accommodation, so don't expect hospitality services - it was just what we were looking for. The day we "checked-in", the door to the house was unlocked, with a set of keys and a note from the owner, Louise telling us to make ourselves at home. There were also useful brochures highlighting things to do in the area. Louise came over to say hi to us later in the day and was friendly and helpful. After that we were left to our own devices, except when we got back in touch with her to extend for another 2 days. Even with the William Bay National Park (that has 2 of Denmark's most celebrated beaches - Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks) closed for upgrading works when we were there - there was still plenty to do for the better part of a week. Floating Forest was a great base to explore - far enough out of town for real peace and quiet, but close enough for the conveniences that a town offers - supermarket, shops and restaurants and a strong mobile signal. Wifi in the cabin was very slow for some reason, so we often just used our data to get the news and such. It's a great spot to view bird and wildlife - the forest has lots of wallabies and most mornings and evenings, we'd find them grazing on our lawn. The kitchen had a good cooker, but there were a few basics that missed the mark - no colander to drain veggies, or a proper chopping board (the one there was really tiny), and no bread knife to slice a loaf. The furnishings were a bit "cobbled together" like they'd been salvaged from different places and the house had an assortment of rather odd artwork that we preferred to avoid looking at. The house could do with some floor lamps to soften the light - all the lights were ceiling lamps which didn't feel as cozy as it could have been. The weather was too warm for us to ever need a fire, but the house has a really impressive pot belly stove that would add some serious heat during chillier nights. As it was such a large house, getting to the toilet meant going down 2 sets of stairs ... a bit of a traipse in the middle of the night. For some reason, our sheets were also a bit rough. All in all, we'd return in a heartbeat, but there's room for improvement.
