Spent a weekday night at the Thayer on our way further upstate. There are three entrances to West Point and most gps do not send you to the correct gate - use the Thayer Gate entrance. The valet was welcoming. The lobby is grand in scale and the front desk staff was courteous and pleasant. The double queen room had... More

My family of five stayed one night at the Thayer Hotel after attending a West Point game. We had a double room which was a nice size facing the mountain. We had a large group staying at the hotel and they were very accommodating. The room was a bit cold but the heater worked fine. I was up late so... More

A beautiful property with very nice rooms. Everything about the Thayer is special. If you are visiting West Point, plan your visit around The Thayer. If the hotel is sold out, pick another weekend! It is that special.

We stayed the the Thayer last weekend. My nephew who is a West Point grad got married. This hotel is truely a hotel that has true military history from it's beginning. The halls are filled with picture of all the Generals that graduated from West Point, it's almost like opening up a history book of time, places and events. Military... More

West Point in the fall.....outstanding! Nice visit. The museum up the road is a must! Security is less strict than the past......don't bother asking directions at the gate (contractors). Hotel food was very good. Service and staff was exquisite. Views are astounding. Noise always a problem. Weekend gatherings in the evenings and the train nearby.

There is nothing like visiting West Point in the fall when the leaves have changed color and are at their peak. The surrounding area offset by the buildings of West Point are beautiful. The area has so much history and learning about the cadets and their successes is amazing. One only has to be sad to think of the talents... More

I would never stay here again or recommend to a friend. Why pay the most expensive prices for a hotel when you wont be able to enjoy the comforts of sleep. There are apparently several train tracks near the property that have multiple trains honking and blaring their horns every 30 minutes throughout the day and night. Also, an air-raid... More

Our group of 12 didn't stay at the Thayer, but we had a very good lunch in its restaurant before taking a guided tour of West Point. Beautiful location right inside the Academy gates. Great burgers and soups.

“Our room overlooked the Hudson and was quite comfortable. We were forewarned about the train that comes by but not told of its frequency through the night although it was worth the view. Take time to walk the halls and read about the different graduates and their accomplishments. It is quite impressive.”
