Ash-Grove Mountain Cabins exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Hickory Hideaway, 2-bedroom cabin in early November. It's a nice cross between camping and staying in a nice hotel. Several cabins had guests but it was so quiet. Our cabin was a sweet, rustic home away from home while we were hiking and exploring. Cute decorations and a kitchen well-stocked... More

Thank you for staying at Ash Grove's cabins and for your review. We try to make our guests feel at home and that they are a part of our family. Since you described it as a "home away from home", we feel that we succeeded in your case. We will check out the queen bed and make appropriate changes or... More

Now this is how to run a campground! Small, private campground run the right way. Mark & Steven make every effort to make your camping experience what it should be, even parking our camper for us. The campground is beautifully maintained with lush foliage between sites. We can't wait to return. Highly recommend this wonderful campground without hesitation!

We had a lovely time at Ash Grove, staying in the stellar tent site, which is tents only. My tip would be to check out the video on the website if you are considering staying in a tent on the stellar tent site, as it shows exactly what the different sites look like. We decided to camp at campsite Iris.... More

We love Ash Grove! We have stayed 10 times at the Dogwood Den cabin. We highly recommend this campground. Mark and Steven are the owners and make every effort to make your stay wonderful. Ash Grove is convenient to the area attractions but if you just want to relax on the porch it is the ideal location. Looking forward to... More

Can only offer up a review of the Stellar tent sites (Ash Grove's most primitive tent camping option), which were a little disappointing. The sites are termed 'secluded' on Ash Grove's website, but the first two Stellar sites, Aster and Bluet, have a privacy fence erected between them otherwise you'd literally be in your campmates' fire ring. Light from the... More

Thank you for staying at Ash Grove. We are sorry that your campsite didn't meet your expectations for seclusion. The Stellar (walk-to) sites that are closest to the bathhouse and parking--with the shortest walk--are less secluded than sites that require a longer walk to get to them. We do have videos on our website which provide a walking tour of... More

The two guys that run this place, run it nicely. It's family friendly and quiet. My wife and I stayed in the Elf Shelf and loved it! We only stayed the weekend, but are already planning on heading back next year to stay a week. If you forgot anything, they likely have it in the office for a reasonable cost.

I have never written a review for trip advisor before but I felt the urge after our two night stay. We were planning on tent camping for two nights. This would have been our children's first experience with "roughing it." One day before our arrival, I panicked based on the weather. RAIN!! I did not want our children's first camping... More

Thank you for staying at Ash Grove and for your 1st time review. It was fortunate that we had a cancellation for the cabin so that your children didn't have a wet camping trip. The mountains of Western NC are a temperate rainforest, so there is a chance of an afternoon shower--somewhere in the area--most days. Plan for that and... More

I've been coming here for nearly a decade... I call it 'A slice of paradise'. Mark & Steven deeply care for the campground; therefore, most all of the campers do as well. I appreciate being at a place that is so clean and natural... It doesn't compare to other campgrounds, which seem over-used and often rather disrespected by the campers.... More

My husband and I stayed at the Iris site for 5 nights in July. It was outstanding! The site is very secluded (as most are). The only advice I would give is either pack light or be prepared to haul your things (the way back is uphill from Iris). But the scenery is totally worth it, in my opinion! Mark... More

Thank you for camping at Ash Grove. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Our walk-to tent sites are between 25 and 200 yards from the bathhouse, so we can try to tailor your site to how far you want to walk (and we even have a few drive-to sites). We look forward to seeing you again. More
