Went here for a wedding. It is far, far away. Quite pretty once you arrive, but about 1.5 hours from Asheville, 3 from Atlanta and I think about 2.5 from Charlotte (not sure). t's an old hotel and my room was nice, but not great. It's definitely not a luxury room, but it's clean. Everyone is very nice and the...

The atmosphere will take you back in time, and we love that! My children especially enjoyed the miniature donkeys, and we all had a great hike around the lake. My kids' favorite part, though, is the bottomless ice cream at dinner. Oh, my! What a time they had with that. Don't plan to bring your work here with you, though....

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We are so glad your family enjoyed High Hampton. Most importantly, we are happy that your children had fun! Spending time with the miniature donkeys, Ed and Fred, and being in the great outdoors is always a hit with our younger guests. Having eight flavors of ice cream for dessert at lunch...

We spent part of our honeymoon here over 30 years ago & have traveled back several times since, including the past 2 years for our anniversary. We always come in the fall & have stayed in the lodge & a couple of the duplex cabins, but our favorite rooms would be either the Honeymoon Cottage, which sits on a small...

What a great glowing review. Thank you very much. Honeymoon is a special cabin that has many memories to a lot of guests. This winter we are making it a priority to get WIFI out to the cabin so one does not feel quite so secluded yet offers that private feel. We appreciate your comments regarding our food. We worked...

Unlike any resort property I've been to before. At night, there are 4-generation families playing Bingo or Skittles, talking and laughing together. People call it "adult" camp, and that's a fitting description. The rooms and cottages feel more like your favorite pair of old, worn Levis and a pair of slippers. No phones. No TVs. But there is WiFi if...

Mountain lodge with large dining room. We always stay in one of the cabin rooms, mainly in the Oak cabin/cottage - typically a quiet night's sleep. Meals included with room - buffet style. Very good food. Not cheap - they also charge a facility fee. Highlands area is ~ 25 minute drive away with lots of shops, some restaurants.

Thank you for writing and especially your visits of twice a year and that in and of itself speaks volumes. Glad you enjoy Oak cottage and have restful nights. We hope that you continue to visit and we continue to be that special "predictable" place. Respectfully, Clifford Meads

Although this property is gorgeous (and we were there during high foliage) with a lovely lake and easy trails meandering through woods, we were shocked to learn that these cabins are made of paper-thin walls, floors, and ceilings dating back to the 1920s. If you are next to a family with children, a couple with a whimpering dog, honeymooners, or...

Thank you for taking the time to write. We apologize for your lack of sleep due to outside noise. You are correct that some of our cottages are in need of sound insulation and were not initially constructed with sound in mind. We have begun in some of our cottages the process of padded flooring for that very purpose. We...

My fiancé and spend the weekend at High Hampton for a wedding recently and just fell in love with this little spot! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms were a little quirky but added to the charm of this place. The views from the tavern patio are just outstanding. Overlooking a huge lake and mountainside, I can't imagine a much...

After much planning and coordination-Booked and paid in full for reservations for two families in November. They called us today and said they were closing October 31 for the season!! This place is a hobby-not a business. Your reservation is only a suggestion. Steer clear!!

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. We are so very sorry that we had to make the business decision to close a little earlier this year based on the finite number of guests the first 10 days of November. We know that you were offered reduced rates and a cabin/cabins that would suit your needs however, you selected...
