The Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel stands out for its prime location, with guests frequently applauding its proximity to various attractions. Visitors have consistently extolled the hotel for its cleanliness and the modern ambiance of its decor. The rooftop bar and generous amenities, including complimentary refreshments, are popular among patrons.
While many commend the attentive service and lavish comforts of the rooms, some have faced challenges with overbooking and rate inconsistencies. Despite the praise, the value of staying here comes into question for some due to steep parking fees and unexpected rate hikes.

My wife and I were in town for a short stay in Uptown Charlotte. We enjoy staying at Kimpton hotels and proactively look for them whenever we travel. This was our first time staying at the Kimpton Tryon Park and it did not disappoint. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The location is extremely convenient to most Uptown attractions. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip.

This was one of the most comfortable Kimpton hotels that we've stayed at. Our room on the top 18th floor had a spectacular view through its huge windows overlooking the park and the horizon. The staff was very courteous, helpful, and friendly. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the room temperature was easy to adjust. The hotel offered concierge parking for $48 per day with unlimited in-out. Instead, we decided to park our car in the underground ramp for $30 per day and adjusted our schedule so that we didn't get charged for more than one day at a time. We chose this hotel because we were interested in visiting Charlotte's downtown which was very walkable, but having done that, if we returned to Charlotte, we would stay in a different neighborhood that had better parking and easier access. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to be close to downtown during their stay in Charlotte.

Cleanliness was about a 4 out of 5, which is good for Kimpton brand (I usually find them to be dirty) but a 5 is the desired mark. Cleanliness in highly public spaces such as hotel rooms - with showers, bathrooms and bedding - is the most crucial element. We come in contact with many potential biohazards when a room is not cleaned properly - and this one was less than perfect. Not the dirtiest room ever but there were random hairs and dirty spots. For the price point, not fantastic.
The room was in decent repair. Broken items here and there but mostly fine.
Service was fine. Everyone was nice and welcoming.
All in all - the hotel is pretty much fine. It is par for the course of Kimpton hotels. Lots of style, great service but the rooms have hair and dirty spots in the corners.

We booked our stay through booking.com. I doublechecked - through that portal - that we could bring our two dachshunds and got a reply that said yes. I then reached back out to make sure that there would be a bath tub in the room. We do not currently have a tub because we had a leak in the only bathroom we have with a tub and that necessitated a complete remodel of the bathroom. The hotel was in a great location in uptown charlotte and my partner used to take baths to relieve stress, so i thought it would be a great valentine's day gift to get a room with a tub. I did not receive a reply on the bathtub question so i looked at online room pictures and saw a tub and though we were good. immediately after checking in, we went to the room to find no bath tub. I immediately called down and asked if they had a room with a tub and went over the back and forth through booking.com. i was told there were no rooms available with a tub so i asked if we could cancel our reservation. i realize that there is a no refund policy, but we were not responded to by the hotel through our booking.com reservation and it was an honest mistake. i was told the best they could do was give a $50 credit. we reluctantly agreed, since there was no other option, and at least got to enjoy the merchant and trade bar at the roof top. Upon checking out, i was told that the $50 credit was not going to be returned to my card but instead would be a credit to be used in the restaurant. john anthony also denied that the email i sent to booking.com making sure that there was a bath tub, was a legitimate email, even though I showed him the back and forth emails on my phone. Today, I find out that there has been a refund of $38 returned to my card. I can't recommend this hotel, and the unprofessional, dismissive manner that john anthony treated us with is unacceptable.

Hi Shawn, Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about it. We pride ourselves on providing great guest service and great accommodations, so it's disappointing to see that we failed with you and for that, I apologize. I was able to pull-up conversations, but did not see a request for a bathtub. Can you please send me a screenshot of your request, because I would like to know where we went wrong with this? As such, that does not excuse a staff member being unprofessional, because that's not what we do around here. Again, my apology and I look forward to your response.

Showed up and they were overbooked and couldn't fulfill my reservation. I arrived at 11pm for a business trip and I got to the counter and they told me they were simply overbooked. They took about 20 minutes to find me a Holiday Inn Express 30 minutes away I could go to and I just booked another hotel a few blocks away (The Dunhill).
Totally insane to show up to a hotel you have a reservation at and find out they don't have space for you. This may be the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel ever.

We used IHG points for one night, but on a Saturday it turned out to not be such a good idea. We asked for an early check in (Diamond IHG), but were told the room was not ready; no problem, we said, but asked for a call when the room was ready, but that never came.
Pros:
Our room on the 9th floor was a corner room with lots of light, but the many windows were not soundproofed (see comment below). Very spacious room, especially the bathroom with all high-end fixtures, e.g., chair-height Toto toilet with soft-close lid (attention to detail). Nice linens, but only one really tired Frette robe in the closet.
Neat elevator system where you select your floor and the screen tells you which set of doors will be opening and no pushing buttons once you get inside. The only downside I saw was that there was not room key verification to ensure you were a guest and not someone off of the street.
Cons:
Noise: The hotel fronts Church St. which seems to be a practice area for the local speedway. There also was a corner preacher with a loudspeaker who railed for hours, an Iranian protest march, and sirens all afternoon and into the evening. And then the cars with loud mufflers and dirt bikes racing up and down the street until the wee hours of the morning. I had to wear my Bose noise cancelling earphones, but even they were not up to the task. Lesson learned: ask for a room away from Church St.
No coffee machine in the rooms. If you want an early morning cup of Joe, you would have to get dressed and go down to the lobby. Weird.
Limited breakfast menu; very slim pickings. Restaurant was cold.

The hotel is beautiful! The location is perfect. The staff is wonderful! Upon checking in (no wait) , I was given a brief summary of the hotel amenities which I appreciated very much. I had received a courtesy text message letting me know my room was ready EARLY for check in. The elevators are super cool too, you pick your floor ( instead of up or down), when the doors open it takes you to your floor (no buttons on the inside). No waiting on the elevator either. Very classy! My room was very nice & I was welcomed with a little snack and a sweet note offering help with anything I might need to make my stay more comfortable. My view was incredible!! I was so excited! The minicar was stocked with premium liquors AND snacks (gourmet chips, candy & other special items you just have to check it out yourself!!! The bathroom looked newly remodeled, the shower was very roomy , great shower head & soft towels! I hurried to get ready to go to the roof top bar ( Merchant & Trade) WOW! It was breathtaking! Wonderful craft cocktails. It was a great start to a wonderful evening! After experiencing the sunset over the beautiful city of Charlotte & a few delicious adult beverages, I went downstairs to the restaurant in the Hotel (Angeline’s) where I had a great dinner. I took the recommendation of the waiter & I was very happy! I went the distance and had dessert with an Irish coffee too! I had to tap out on the dessert about 1/2 way through I was so stuffed ( took it back to my room) . I enjoyed a little television before sleeping like a rock. The bed had first class linens & pillows. The next morning I knew I needed to hit the gym. The exercise facility is well equipped and lots of ceiling to floor windows providing a great view while on the Elliptical or other machines. They had free weights & everything you need to work off those dessert calories! The morning coffee makes the lobby smell wonderful, I’m a tea drinker & I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of quality teas offered. They had hot chocolate too. It was a totally wonderful experience & I will definitely go back & take someone with me! So in summary, one I parked my car ( they offer valet), I never had to leave the hotel. I had one of the best times by myself I’ve ever had! The Kimpton checked every box ! LOVE IT!!!

Overall extremely unpleasant stay. Both nights were sleepless due to the loud music at the bar across the street (we stayed at the ‘quiet’ side of the hotel as other reviews mentioned noise). I wish that hotel warned about the noise and at the very least provided earplugs (to really solve the issue they need to replace windows, etc). Large group of people tried to open our room while we were inside. To our great surprise they opened the door with one of their keys… On check out we waited 30 min for valet to find our car. They somehow lost the key and the car, showed me key from another car (?), gave the excuse that young team over the weekends is ‘not trained well and they park cars in the wrong places’. We checked out a day earlier, received a discount after complaining to the manager about sleepless night (second night was awful), I am tempted to never stay at another Kimpton property again. Unless you plan to party whole night, consider staying elsewhere.

We had a perfect stay. They have the friendliest and most helpful staff ever. I left one of my bags at home. They had most everything on hand, including a hair straightener, which was in our room by the time we returned. We had a beautiful view of Truist Field. The bed was very comfy and the shower was awesome, I love a hot shower and they definitely provided. Location was perfect, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go including the Bank of America stadium to see Kenny Chesney!!! If you want somewhere nice to stay, this is it!!! You will not be disappointed.
