Nestled in Charlotte's Uptown area, the Hilton Garden Inn is a popular choice among guests, thanks to its prime location and a host of amenities including quality dining and a buffet breakfast, despite some concerns about cost. The hotel's atmosphere is frequently described as welcoming, with special nods to the comfy pillows and renovated rooms. While the overall cleanliness and friendly service receive accolades, some guests have noted issues with daily cleaning and maintenance. Visited Charlotte over Labor Day weekend for the Clemson-Georgia football game and wanted a reasonably priced place to stay near the stadium. I previously stayed at the adjoining Hampton Inn (they share the same parking garage) and this time chose the Hilton Garden Inn which was also an excellent choice.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the stadium and there are several places to eat within a 5 minute walk. The property is in the financial district of town so there was limited vehicle and very little foot traffic in the area except for the time around the Saturday football game. Everything about the building was clean and functioning well so no overall complaints. I can not say enough good things about assistant manager Noah Clark who actually came out to my car at check-in to assist with luggage (I was walking with a cane at the time) and was extremely helpful throughout the entire stay answering my questions and giving suggestions.

All around, I give this property high praise and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and restful place to stay in the middle of a busy city.

Hotel staff exceptional. Rooms beautiful. Breakfast gross. During covid do prepackaged like your hospitality hour snacks. The corn beef hash and mush just looked like bad school cafeteria food. and OJ and juice machine not working and coffee wasn’t hot/strong. I was upset that as a Hilton honors member I didn’t get the free internet. Every other Hilton I stayed at during my trip had the internet upgrade included for free for members but this one wanted me to pay just for regular internet. So that was a bummer

We cherish your loyalty as an Honors member. I believe there may be some confusion as we do not serve corn beef hash and do not have a juice machine. Please be informed that we do offer complimentary internet access and should you need additional bandwidth, Gold and Diamond members can enjoy the upgrade free of charge. Thank you for traveling, we wish you well.

The overall experience I would describe for this hotel was adequate no more, no less. The building and my room were aesthetically pleasing. Customer service was moderate. If you are looking for a place to rest your head in a clean room that’s downtown you will enjoy this location. However if you’re looking for above average anything this place isn’t it. There were zero perks except complimentary water. You pay to park $20 per day, you pay for breakfast $14.99, no pool or jacuzzi, no free snacks, and no vending machines on the floors. For the price i paid there should be more perks and amenities. I wouldn’t stay here again unless every other place downtown was booked.

Stay Report - 7/15 - 7/16

Location: The hotel is located in "uptown" Charlotte which is actually downtown.  It's across the street from the NASCAR museum and a few blocks from all the downtown sports stadium, convention center etc.  It's also easy to get to off I-277.  Location wise it's pretty ideal for either work or for fun in Charlotte.  The area around the hotel especially is quiet and there is some limited street parking.

Hotel: The hotel is very nice for an urban style HGI.  I was actually surprised it was as old as it is as it seems very new.  There's an attached parking garage though if you turn onto MLK from Caldwell be advised the entrance to the garage is the second right.  There is also supposed to be valet parking shared with the adjacent Hampton Inn but I didn't see anyone when I was there.  The hotel has a small snack shop in the lobby and a lot seating in said lobby along with a currently closed restaurant.  The hotel is in fact doing no food service whatsoever despite it being legal to do so in North Carolina.  There's also a small indoor pool which is currently closed.

Check In: I had to use digital key as no one answered the intercom when I tried calling from the parking lot.  When I came into the lobby there was no one at the desk.  This was a common problem, the desk agent would disappear into the back and I'd have to wait for her to come out so I could get assistance.

Room: A little on the small side but overall quite nice.  Large TV, desk, easy chair, nice view of downtown, a large bed with outlets next to it and a small bathroom.  Wifi and water pressure were very good as is soundproofing.

Dining: As mentioned everything is closed except the snack shop.

Overall I liked the hotel but I was very disappointed in the staff.  It was impossible to find them and when I did interact they were rude and unhelpful.  I understand times are tough for the industry right now but people here weren't even trying and it was very offputting.

Good news, our restaurant is open as of 8/8 for breakfast and dinner(5p-10p). We regret you had to wait a few minutes for our desk agent. Our team is doing our best to facilitate the property on a skeleton crew. Needless to say, we'll use your comments as coaching tool to uplift our spirit. Be well.

I’ve stayed in a lot of HGI hotels, and this one definitely makes it to the bottom of the list. The furnishings and fixtures are all quite dated and there was mold on the wallpaper in the bathroom, not to mention the leaky faucet in the bathroom that went drip, drip, drip all night. Not the cleanest hotel, bring your Clorox wipes and you’ll feel better, just feels like it’s not that clean because of the dated nature of everything.

Location is good, within walking distance to everything but away from the nightlife. Close to Whole Foods.

Parking is a bit crazy, make sure you check in before trying to park yourself (don’t bother with the $28/day valet) because you need a room card to get in the garage.

Overall, okay for one or two nights, but I wouldn’t want to stay for an extended period of time.

There were so many things wrong with this hotel, but the worst would have to be the customer service. Just about every employee working at this place was rude, uninformed, and dismissive to any concerns we brought up. We were told our breakfast would be included in our room cost but then during breakfast it changed to only having $20 credit which was never applied, and we ended up paying for the full overpriced breakfast. Then when we accidentally left something in our room and called to get it back, we were treated horribly by customer service who refused to help us look for it and hung up. Their hot tub isn’t in commission so you don’t even get one of the amenities listed on the website. Don’t make the mistake of coming to his hotel the ones right next to it are likely much better options.

We flew into town for the Genesis concert at the Spectrum Center; this hotel is 3 blocks away so it was in a great spot for us. I will say there aren't that many restaurants around, we had to walk up further north towards Tryon when we wanted to eat. They don't currently have an airport shuttle but the airport is only 8 miles away and the Lyft didn't cost much. The staff are really friendly and the breakfast buffet was great. Highly recommend.

The staff was very friendly. Although we were there for cheer leading event and it was very busy, we felt like our business was very much appreciated. Noah was very kind and considerate. The breakfast was a little pricey, so we did not partake. The location of the hotel was in walking distance of plenty of restaurants.

In all the years of travel I always try to book at a Hilton Hotel. This Hotel is not managed well at all. Upon arrival the lobby smelled of marijuana and the two employees that were there were high on something. I requested the security manager contact me . The next day I received a call from a person named Paul Horner claiming he was the head of security. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. This person has no business dealing with the public , let alone being in a customer service business. The langugage that this employee of Hilton used is absolutely disgusting.
I have canceled my account with Hilton and will never be back.
