The hotel was clean..staff were friendly excellent location. The only negative is the breakfast was VERY expensive..free breakfast should be offered to guests for thank them for their patronage and loyalty and for spending so much money per night!
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the stadium and there are several places to eat within a 5 minute walk. The property is in the financial district of town so there was limited vehicle and very little foot traffic in the area except for the time around the Saturday football game. Everything about the building was clean and functioning well so no overall complaints. I can not say enough good things about assistant manager Noah Clark who actually came out to my car at check-in to assist with luggage (I was walking with a cane at the time) and was extremely helpful throughout the entire stay answering my questions and giving suggestions.
All around, I give this property high praise and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and restful place to stay in the middle of a busy city.
Location: The hotel is located in "uptown" Charlotte which is actually downtown. It's across the street from the NASCAR museum and a few blocks from all the downtown sports stadium, convention center etc. It's also easy to get to off I-277. Location wise it's pretty ideal for either work or for fun in Charlotte. The area around the hotel especially is quiet and there is some limited street parking.
Hotel: The hotel is very nice for an urban style HGI. I was actually surprised it was as old as it is as it seems very new. There's an attached parking garage though if you turn onto MLK from Caldwell be advised the entrance to the garage is the second right. There is also supposed to be valet parking shared with the adjacent Hampton Inn but I didn't see anyone when I was there. The hotel has a small snack shop in the lobby and a lot seating in said lobby along with a currently closed restaurant. The hotel is in fact doing no food service whatsoever despite it being legal to do so in North Carolina. There's also a small indoor pool which is currently closed.
Check In: I had to use digital key as no one answered the intercom when I tried calling from the parking lot. When I came into the lobby there was no one at the desk. This was a common problem, the desk agent would disappear into the back and I'd have to wait for her to come out so I could get assistance. Â
Room: A little on the small side but overall quite nice. Large TV, desk, easy chair, nice view of downtown, a large bed with outlets next to it and a small bathroom. Wifi and water pressure were very good as is soundproofing.
Dining: As mentioned everything is closed except the snack shop. Â
Overall I liked the hotel but I was very disappointed in the staff. It was impossible to find them and when I did interact they were rude and unhelpful. I understand times are tough for the industry right now but people here weren't even trying and it was very offputting.
Location is good, within walking distance to everything but away from the nightlife. Close to Whole Foods.
Parking is a bit crazy, make sure you check in before trying to park yourself (don’t bother with the $28/day valet) because you need a room card to get in the garage.
Overall, okay for one or two nights, but I wouldn’t want to stay for an extended period of time.
I have canceled my account with Hilton and will never be back.
