I typically don’t leave reviews, but I need to brag on two of the Valet staff at the JW Marriott in Charlotte, NC. Tony and Jules are absolutely phenomenal people. Not only are they highly professional, but they make you feel like family and go above and beyond to make sure all of your needs are met while you’re staying at the hotel. Extremely courteous, kind-hearted individuals. Their level of care greatly heightened my overall experience at the JW Marriott. In this day and age, it is increasingly more difficult to find people who are passionate about providing fantastic customer care. Tony and Jules deserve all the praises (and raises.) They were both super quick to respond to any communication/bringing my car up front. My fiancé and I brought our dog to stay with us, and Tony would make sure that our car was pulled around every night around the time we would normally take our dog out to use the restroom. The attention to detail/remembering that we would need our car at a specific time, and pulling it up without us having to ask was incredibly thoughtful. He would also bring treats for my pup, and was always incredibly friendly to her (he’s her new favorite person ☺️)

In all, it was a pleasure dealing with Tony and Jules, and they have raised the bar VERY high for future valet experiences!!

Axum, who was stationed at the front desk, extended a warm and inviting welcome that immediately made me feel at home. Her exceptional warmth and helpfulness truly stood out.Cindy and La Shaun, who oversee the lounge, ensured that I could enjoy my breakfast in a tranquil manner. Additionally, Glenda and Arri, responsible for housekeeping, went above and beyond to maintain my room in a pristine and orderly state. Their meticulous attention to detail ensured that I never faced a shortage of amenities, and the cleanliness of the room was consistently impeccable. Came down from North Daytona with my family for the weekend, loved the high energy that the valet team gives off before entering the hotel, really felt welcomed! Thank you Gregory for the kind words during my check in process. Looking forward to eating at Deans during my stay. I generally love JW Marriott's, so this is a much anticipated addition to the Charlotte hotel scene. Overall, this is a very nice new hotel. Came here for an overnight stay and a private dinner.

When I arrived, I asked the front desk what was open for lunch, and was told that only Deans, the lobby steakhouse was open. Would have liked to have eaten poolside but understand there are limited services these days and the pool/lounge doesn't start service until 3pm. I went to Deans and was given a menu and directed to a lounge type seat near the entrance. Fine. Except I sat there for about 15 minutes and there was no service, no one came to take my order or otherwise acknowledged my in any way. I left and walked over to Jinya for some nice ramen.

Enjoyed the rooftop pool/lounge area, nice comfortable seats, small pool and nice hangout area. Due to the pool/lounge location next to the hotel tower and all the other nearby downtown towers the pool/lounge area only gets limited direct sunshine at a very specific time of day, I believe early afternoon, however it did get some reflected sunshine off a nearby tower. A waitress came around and gave me a menu but never came by to ask if I wanted to order anything. I wasn't dying for a drink or bite but thought this was strange and another service miss.

Had a private reception and dinner in one of the private meeting rooms on the fourth floor. Food and drinks and service were very good.

By the way, not sure what is up with the dozens of reviews of the valet service. They got your car and bags, cool.... Seems like a way to pump up reviews for a new place? I can't imagine writing a hotel review based on successfully retreiving a valet parked car or luggage.

Got a room on the top floor, room 2220. It was decent sized, good view, well appointed, modern decor, all good. Except there was some nearby buzzing/humming noise that became apparent at night when it was quiet and time to sleep. I got back to the room and noticed this noise and called the front desk, they said they would investigage. But not sure what they can do. Luckily I bring ear plugs with my for the occaisional stay that is noisy and they helped, otherwise it would have been difficult to sleep.

Overall a beautiful new facility but there were some service misses and the noisy room must pull down the rating. If I came back would try a different room on another floor.

Sometimes a few minor things are just as disappointing as one larger issue.

I really, really wanted to love the JW Charlotte but....

Had a corner room on the 6th floor.
Photo attached.
Plenty of wonderful, natural light during the day, totally dark at night. No floor lamp, just lights on both sides of the bed and a tiny lamp on the desk. Something definitely missing.

Club lounge on Saturday morning missing spoons. Yet still had to ask attendant for plastic silverware hidden in the back.

No water or sodas replenished in lounge Saturday afternoon onward and obviously no one checked to see how messy the room was.

Club lounge on Sunday morning insane. Food not replenished in a timely manner so had to walk out and went to Dean's for breakfast.

No breakfast menu at Dean's on Sunday morning at 9 am. Only a brunch menu.
No omelets (only eggs your way) but pizza and hamburgers readily available first thing in the morning. Would love to know the F&B Director who thought this was a great idea.

As someone who's been in a hotel 65+ nights this year all for leisure, this is pretty shocking. Most upscale hotels do breakfast til 11, then do a slightly different menu for brunch. Shocking.

Hotel is in a great location, airport/shopping restaurants all close by.

Upon checking out,never asked how my stay was but Front Desk agent said "I'll take your key since you're leaving,"
Definitely a first there, too.

Sadly, not up to par as an alleged 4.5 star hotel

The JW has always set the bar high, but unfortunately this perfect uptown location falls well below that standard. The check-in process was slow (only 1 guest in front of us) and after waiting a period, a very nice British speaking young man was very helpful, and escorted us to the high tech elevator (loved the technology). From there, everything was very un-JW! The concierge level room was average (Westin beds are far superior) and the concierge breakfast was no better than Marriott’s lower level brands. The executive room was nice, but very under stocked and not as clean as expected. NY day breakfast, there were ketchup and drink spills that remained on the floor and seats for an extended period of time. Great ambiance and view, but seriously lacking staff to maintain. The valet parking is a train wreck. Following their protocol and technology, the three times I requested my vehicle, I waited over 10 minutes after arriving there and their text told me to hurry to the valet stand because vehicle would be ready in 5 minutes. So from my text to picking up vehicle, at least 20+ minutes. Maybe NY weekend was the problem, but they should be used to the volume. We tried to get to the Aura, the roof top restaurant/bar, but it was closed due to cold temps. Really? What are the portable heaters for? The only bright spot we found was Caroline’s Oyster Bar. We ate there twice and each time was delicious. Very tasty meals with good service!
Maybe NYE weekend created all of these issues, I doubt it, but hopefully corrections can be made and restore this JW back to JW standards!

Just stay elsewhere. There’s too many hotels in Charlotte to stay here. I’m not sure if you’ve ever had someone walk into your hotel room while you’re sleeping, or had staff pound on your door hours before checkout like you’ve done something wrong but that’s what happens here. I’ve never stayed at a hotel, let alone an expensive hotel, where housekeeping went around in the morning, three hours before checkout, pounding on guests doors like a dorm. I was even more shocked an hour later to have my door opened and a person walk in, and again pound on the door after they’d already opened it, HOURS before my checkout. This isn’t OK.

Wonderful and professional service from Rachel at Dean’s. The food wasn’t the best, but we really enjoyed Mai Tai mimosas. We also received fast service from Alessandra at valet, and valet is only $15 at JW Marriott which beats a lot of the nearby garage pricing if you’re parking for more than 2 hours.

What an amazing hotel! The attention to detail & level of accoutrements in this hotel was superb! From the USB-C outlets & automatic drapes in the rooms… to the gorgeous Executive Lounge (thanks Tricia!) & delicious food options, the JW Marriott has it all. Even my room was kept spotless by the housekeeper Arri… something you just don’t see in today’s typical hotel environment. I’m saying this as a 90% Hilton “guy”… but the JW Marriott Charlotte has set a new level of excellence for my business travel standards!

This is a beautiful hotel. We had a spacious king room. The bathroom was good size and had automatic lights in the vanity when you entered which is a nice touch. There was a fridge in the room. We ate at Caroline’s Oyster Bar for dinner and had excellent waygu burgers and fries. We only spent one night so we didn’t really take advantage of the amenities, although there is a nice rooftop pool. We chose to park in the adjacent garage and I thought it would be connected to the hotel, but we ended up having exit the garage and enter the hotel from the street - not a huge deal, but if you have a lot of luggage it would be a drag.

There isn't a dedicated Airport Shuttle. However, I work closely with this hotel and several of the other luxury hotels in the Charlotte Uptown area. 24 hours a day by appointment. Ask for me at the Front Desk. Alpha Car Services

What? I can tell you first hand I am NOT on their staff or work for JW. We live in Boston and our daughter happens to live down the street on East Stonewall. We stayed there over Thanksgiving for several days and our stay was phenomenal and EVERYTHING I commented is 100% the truth from us their customer who made our stay truly fantastic. The rooms, the staff, the food, the ambiance was superior. I mentioned names because they went out of their way to make our experience fantastic and deserved the great kudos. Why are you so suspicious? I promise it is truly unfounded!
