we stayed at the dunhill....for a long birthday weekend celebration. We had never been to charlotte before and we were not there to shop, so we found the location perfect. We walked to the museums and symphony. The mattress on our queen size bed was way too soft, every time my husband moved the littlest bit, the bed did too, totally...

So parking was fine, check in went well but she forgot to validate my parking ticket so if I had not remembered at checkout would have cost me another $12 (she did tell me that was the charge at check-in). Apparently for $225/night they do not have any bellmen. Arriving in my room I sought out an ice bucket. Looked...

Dear Foodandwine60, I'm sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. As a full service hotel, we take pride in serving our guests instead of them having to serve themselves. It sounds like there were some missed opportunities on our part, and for that, I apologize. There are some quirks being an historic property--like temperature control being limited to...

We recently spent a few days at this wonderful olde worlde hotel in the heart of Charlotte. Check-in went smoothly and we had a beautiful room with sweeping views of the city. All good except for the breakfasts which are included in the tariff. On my second morning I found that the breakfast table had been almost totally raided except...

I am VERY picky about hotels, and I love the Dunhill. I have stayed on two different occasions, once in one of the executive rooms and once in a standard room. The hotel is very clean. They provide soda and water each day and chocolates at turn down service. The rooms are simply and beautifully furnished, and lack the standard...

We stayed here 2 nights for a wedding in the area. The complimentary car service was great, the customer service was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a bit more European than most hotel breakfasts (cold meats and cheese) but still has much of the usual (cereals, breads, etc). Rooms are a bit small, but so long as you know...

Dear KP1935, We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. I appreciate your comment about the outlets. We know that they are a premium at our historic property and we are investigating some solutions to help accommodate charging more electronics. We hope to see you again when you return to Charlotte. My husband and I have stayed a few other hotels in Charlotte, and we have liked all of them. However, on this visit, we were looking for something less "chain hotel"-ish while still being in close to everything in Uptown Charlotte. I wish I had found the Dunhill sooner! This is a restored historic, boutique-style hotel with all the amenities...

We only stayed at the hotel for one night, but it was a wonderful experience. It is certainly a hotel with character and elegance - certainly not a cookie cutter chain hotel. The staff was exceptional in their service, always greeting us with a smile, and helping out in any way they could, even to small details like opening doors...

The Dunhill Hotel was the last historic place to stay on our 10 southern states trip. It is located in downtown(uptown) Charlotte. The check in people were very nice, very professional, very helpful. The valet parking was easy and efficient. The room was very pretty. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler. ... more   less
