I have stayed at this property several times previously, with almost no issues. The location is great and the views are awesome. The staff is usually friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The rooms have always been very clean and everything in working order.

Let me preface what I am about to tell you with I stay in various Hilton branded hotels around the US for 200+ nights a year. Almost all of those locations either have returned to having breakfast, open restaurants, open bars, open executive lounge, or they offer vouchers in place of not having access to those amenities as you are paying the same price for the room but not getting what you paid for.

Now, for this visit, things are different. This location however seems to feel that you do not need anything. They do not have any of the restaurants open, nor the executive lounge, nor are they offering any type of breakfast. They also are not offering any type of voucher or replacement. According to the gentleman I talked to at the front desk I could have a grab and go bag breakfast since I was a Diamond member. It contained a drink, a granola bar, and a fruit or similar items.

Moving on to the rooms I have booked. Like I said previously, the rooms are almost always very clean and functioning properly. However, this time I had to figure out why my tv wouldn't turn on (the plug on the back was not plugged in). I have also found 3 light bulbs that are burned out. In the second room that I have rented for my kids, I found more light bulbs burned out. This is something that the maids could/should check for each day. Quite disappointing visit this time, not the usual standard I get from most Hilton hotels.

I really do not like to mention the Marriott chain as I switched to Hilton after almost 25 years with Marriott, however, they seem to be doing a lot better job offering the customers more normalcy with the amenities. With the exception of any local laws due to COVID-19, there is no reason for some of the Hiltons to offer nothing at all. They expect you to pay the same price and receive no amenities in return. They also do not want to offer any vouchers or anything else as well.

Dear Jerry N, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time share your feedback about your experience. I do thank you for your continued loyalty and feedback which only helps us to improve. I have already communicated with my team as to the simplicity of the expectations to ensure our rooms are clean with everything working. We will continue to be vigilant to this regard and I apologize for any inconvenience. I am also sorry that we only have our café open for food and beverage services. We are certainly focused on reopening our actual outlets as soon as we feel it is appropriate to do so with the best interest of all of our guest and employee safety and welfare as our top priority. Our current rates and the rate you are staying on currently are nowhere need our current rate structure and we have made significant concessions due to the lack of overall amenities surrounding our food and beverage outlets. I truly hope we can continue to earn your business and I welcome you to contact me directly on your next stay so that I can personally ensure a truly positive and memorable experience. Thank you again for your business and feedback and we hope to serve you again soon. Regards, Feliks Schwartz - General Manager

So this was not a bad overall stay at all. That being said, I just dont think that this stay is worth $200 per night. If you are going to charge that much, you should not have outdated bathrooms and double sized beds. Beds should have been at least queen size. The pillows are extremely soft and need to be replaced. The room lacks the newness expected at this price point. There were only exactly 2 bath towels and the paper towel roll was nearly empty. There was 1 small lotion and 1 small shampoo. Other hotels just do a better overall job with the small details at this price point. The caulking in the shower is gumped up and is seen with light mold along with mold in the grouting in the tile. These are small details, but it is the small details that set a hotel apart from others. Now the good part. It is centrally located to the university, the staffing was very very good at the restaurant but staffing at the bar and grill seemed overwhelmed and exhausted. Food was phenomenal as always. Would I stay here again???... I would, and I would reccomend it... but not at this price point. People should know that it will be a good stay but you will not get a $200 product

Dear J1283BFelizabethl, thank you for your recent stay and for taking the time to share your valued feedback. We certainly take your comments very seriously and I assure you our rates do fluctuate with demand and the market. That being said, we have updated all of our lighting in our guestrooms as well as artwork in an effort to revitalize our rooms a bit. We have also in fact, initiated a complete bathroom renovation and have had great feedback on these. I do apologize for any lack of amenities in the room and we are more than happy to provide more for the asking; due to the worldwide supply chain issues, we are at the mercy of our vendors and are doing the best we can to accommodate all of our guests with the necessary products to make their stay as comfortable as possible. I sincerely appreciate your business and support and I welcome to you to contact me on your next trip and I will do my best to get you into one of our renovated bathroom guestrooms. We look forward to serving you again soon. Regards, Feliks Schwartz - General Manager

I stayed here two nights while on business in Charlotte. The University area is so convenient to 85 North and South and I chose the hotel for convenience.
The hotel staff is extremely friendly. There was a basketball tourney in town and room choice was limited because teams were staying there. unfortunately I didn’t have the greatest bathroom (wheelchair accessible tub). The tub was high and hard to get in and out of. Sink was small and no where to store items.
Bedroom though was very comfortable and pillows and bed were easy to fall asleep into.
Diamond members have executive floor access to the lounge where bottles of water and soft drinks were. I did not use it but it’s the first Hilton hotel stay in a while that has opened access. You could request daily housekeeping by midnight the day prior.
Coffee shop in the lobby serves Starbucks menu and plenty of pantry items. Bar area a little small but I didn’t use it. Lobby kiosks had plenty of computer stations and a work area at the far end of lobby. You will have no shortage of restaurants in the area along the main road and “boardwalk” area behind the hotel. Free parking!
I will absolutely be back next Charlotte trip.

We checked in our first room and asked for a room change because the carpet smelled like urine and had some red stains on the carpet which could have been removed if the room was cleaned. We asked for a room switch just to get placed into a room where it looks like someone used the tissue and put it back into the tissue holder, the tub was rusty and dirty, the carpet is disgusting and the water wasn’t going down in the sink. When we asked to have someone clean the bathroom because we didn’t want to ask for another room change we were told that we could get checked out and go to a different hotel if we are going complain when I simply asked for cleaning. They are rude and do not want to accommodate their guest. I think we honestly just paid for the Hilton name but the rooms did not live up to it. This is my first and last time staying at this hotel.

I stayed here at this hotel recently and have stayed here numerous times do to the vicinity of the hotel. The hotel is very poorly ran I have concluded after this visit and has a high turnover of staff. George was the assistant general manager who was quite
nice and I heard he left the hotel to work in Ballantine. The third day of my stay I had stopped by the desk after breakfast to ask Chloe an African American woman at the front desk to have some clean towels sent up which she failed to do and still did not have any sent 2 hours later . Finally, I caught
one of the housekeepers to give me some , however I stayed at this hotels policy is to have them sent up not taking them from housekeeping. When I saw Chloe later I
asked her why she failed to have some sent up and she stated if I did not like the way they did things at the Hilton hotel at University Place then to not stay there anymore . I was quite floored that an employee would say that to a guest. She obviously is quite comfortable saying rude things to guests and asked another employee if she is always like that. He stated other guests have complained about her and she has only been employed by the hotel since January . She is definitely bad for the Hilton brand with her obnoxious behavior! My other complaint during my few days stay was the Executive Lounge most of the time has nothing in it and NOT running at its full capacity. There rarely is any bottled water and the oranges ; also bananas look like they have seen better days ! As a diamond member I will say this hotel is a waste of money . Marriott does a much better job supplying their club lounges with various juices , sodas , snacks , fruits , bottled water , etc. The Marriott hotel chain has much better customer service too ; being they are the largest hotel chain in the world and now I understand why ! I am a high tier member with them too therefore I will be using them more frequently. This Hilton hotel does not have to worry about seeing me ever again ; being the previous time I stayed here there was a wedding and the wedding party was loud , obnoxious and trashed the 12th floor and Executive Lounge too ! Again , there is a lack of management at this hotel . Do not spend your money at this hotel ! You would be better spending it elsewhere…

This hotel stay was not so great. Hotel is not updated or modern. House keeping never came to service our room, we mainly wanted our trash can empty. Our room only had one roll of toilet paper in it. We asked for more at 12 midnight we were told to “swing by and get it”. When we ask for more face towels the housekeeper said she will leave it on the outside door handle which is full of germs. When we left we called the front desk because we believe we left something in the room. Chloe was VERY RUDE! And was rushing us of the phone. She said word for word “there’s people in front of me checking out, I’m not about go look for some AirPods” she was very hostile with us, because we wanted to know why it would take a hour for a staff member to check the room to see if we left something! Never coming here again!

I am very sorry and apologetic to hear of your recent stay and I assure you that your comments are well received and taken seriously. While it has become a new industry norm to not provide daily housekeeping services, we are certainly here to serve our guests and fulfill their requests. I am very sorry for the lack of follow up and courtesy to assist in some very simple requests. I assure you this is not our standard and we will be providing re-training and clarification as to our joint expectations of product and service. I was highly disappointed with the standards of this Hilton
hotel. Hilton is a high quality brand but this hotel definitely
needs some updating. Front desk was friendly and, the
entrance of the hotel was nice but going into my room however
was a different story. When I arrive in my room you could
definitely tell it needs updating the crown molding was coming
off the walls the bathroom looked like a dungeon. I had to
move rooms because the bathroom water was not hot and the
bathroom was not cleaned at all hair in the tub it was awful.
Once i moved to another room that room looked old and warn
down. The tubs were dirty from Constantly being used. The
staff was nice and, beds were comfortable but that was about
it. Breakfast was not included in the price and for a $400 to
$500 hotel room you would expect it to be nice but
unfortunately this wasn't the case. I will not be staying here
again!

Our stay at Hilton Charlotte University Place was riddled with missteps from everything from the facility itself to the poor service and attitude of the staff. We stayed a week and were unable to get our room cleaned, light bulbs replaced and other basic services were never addressed. Often, the staff at the Front Desk would never answer the phone. When speaking with the Front Desk staff in person about our requests, they were combative and totally unresponsive...saying "it's not my fault and I won't apologize ".

Really bad service. Employees do not communicate with each other. I was disturbed by the housekeeping twice in one day, even though I had a "do not disturb" sign on the door. TWICE! Plus, at some point came back to the room and found the door open and nobody around. Horrible. Plus, noisy drilling sounds all day long, including weekend.

I don’t know how this place is still operating. There are giant cobwebs in the lobby windows, the toilets are old and run constantly, the a/c is so loud it’s like sleeping in a turbine, and the staff is clearly overwhelmed. The edgewater bar and grill serves the worst food and the bartender is rude; the front desk is poorly staffed. Quite frankly, I’ve stayed at motels of better quality. Do yourself a favor and just pick another hotel

Oh, that was for the South Side hilton...but, I could see the train station from my window. at the University Location. Lots of places you can walk to for eating though!!! And with COVID restrictions lower, they may be running their shuttle again.
Charlotte, North Carolina
Good Afternoon Peter M. Our shuttle does not transport to Bank of America Stadium. There is a light rail station that is conveniently located within walking distance to the hotel. The 7th Street stop would be approximately a 6 block walk to the stadium. I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to give us a call if you need additional information.
