We loved the secluded location and the beautiful views. At check-in, Matthew gave us excellent and detailed suggestions for hikes in the area suitable for our skill level. They turned out to be great! I highly recommend booking breakfast and dinner at Fire Mountain for at least one morning/night of your stay. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is...

Fire Mountain is a peaceful retreat from busy lives. Matthew and Hiram have found the right combination of tranquility and gorgeous views to restore your soul. My husband and I enjoyed 2 very refreshing days amongst the mountains. Breakfast each morning was a real treat! Anna makes a biscuit with a crispy exterior and melt-in-your-mouth interior. We also enjoyed baked...

We look forward to our next stay at Fire Mountain Inn. We stayed 2 nights at Fire Mountain and enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful views. Our room, Cloud Climber, provided a space to rest and enjoy magnificent views of the sunset. The delicious gourmet breakfast each morning was a perfect way to start the day. The staff...

We are frequent visitors to Highlands, NC (have been since late 1970's). First time staying at Fire Mountain. Beautiful property located about 9 miles from Highlands. Given that Highlands was extremely busy and crowded, we were especially thankful that we were somewhat removed. Stayed in the Satohla room. Beautiful sunrise and sunset mountain views. Hiked around property on first day....

A year ago, January 1, 2016, at this time in the evening I had just returned from a fabulous day of hiking with a friend to settle into the comfort of the Star Maiden Room. We had headed off that morning filled with a delicious breakfast served in a beautiful room by hosts who seemed to think of absolutely every...

My husband and I stayed at Fire Mountain Inn last April for the first time. Our room, Star Maiden, is off of the library as are a few other rooms. They were vacant while we were there and so it was like having this huge luxurious suite all to ourselves. We sat and watched sunset from a cozy couch in...

Chose the Inn based on the internet..the pictures were wonderful but could not do the property justice. The fine details placed into each room and the property itself were above expectations. Would have been nice to have a TV, but this place is not meant for entertainment, it's meant for pure relaxation and reconnecting with nature. Can't beat the mountain...

The fire and water dining experience is what you would hope to discover on any excursion, domestic or abroad. It is a hidden treasure, that once discovered, is whispered to others for fear of losing the intimacy. No worry! Hiram and Matthew successfully attract the repeat guest without catering to those interested in the next new "hot spot"

We visited the Fire Mountain Inn for a quick get away at the peak of fall. We reserved a week before departure, as we made plans very last minute. And what a wonderful find it was! We had been to the Highlands, NC area fifteen years before and had forgotten how beautiful it is. The Inn is only a short...

My wife and I chose this Inn based on reviews we read about it and the surrounding area. The Inn exceeded my expectations. It was a combination of great service, excellent breakfast, immaculate grounds and rooms, and especially stunning views of the mountains and sunsets. The hiking nearby is excellent, the town of Highlands is quaint but also has excellent...
