Old Edwards Inn and Spa offers a luxurious and inviting atmosphere, with many guests appreciating the cozy rooms equipped with modern touches such as heated floors and fireplaces. While the spa and dining options receive positive remarks, some visitors note service can be hit or miss. The hotel's cleanliness earns praise, particularly for the well-kept bathrooms. However, opinions on value are mixed, with several travelers feeling the experience does not justify the cost, pointing to overpriced services and pool access issues.

My husband and I just got back from a blissful week at Old Edwards. We had an absolute ball and did not want to leave!!! My husband recently had knee surgery, and everyone at Old Edwards Inn was extremely accommodating from start to finish. Our reservations specialist Dillon made sure our room was in a great location and also made arrangements for us when we added days to our trip at the last minute. If not for him, it would have been difficult for us to stay the amount of time we did, especially if we had to move rooms. The housekeeping department was very attentive and frequently brought us bags of ice for my husband to ice his knee. Our room in the Lodge was spacious and spectacular, and we were greeted with a champagne cocktail at check-in followed by a delicious bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. Most afternoons and early evenings we relaxed in the Lodge bar, Art’s, which we was one of our favorite places to be. We had an amazing dinner at Madison’s for Valentine’s day and both agreed we could eat at Four65 Bistro every day of our life!! SO much fun!! Everything we experienced was top notch…the reservations department, check-in, housekeeping, the food, the service, the spa, our gorgeous room...I could go on and on for days. Thank you Old Edwards staff for making our trip happen…and making it fantastic!! We absolutely loved every minute of it. I want to be back there right now!!

Our Falls Cottage room was ready upon arrival. Everything about the room was perfect! Great bed, nice views, beautiful bathroom, nice wet bar complete with refrigerator and Nespresso machine. It snowed about five inches while we were there and the parking lots and side walks were kept very clear.

Spa was excellent. Services were great but a bit pricey compared to other resorts where we frequent. Took advantage of the steam and jacuzzi in locker room. A very nice area to relax and get away.

Fitness Center was very complete! Very clean and modern. TechnoGym equipment as well a free weights. Lockers and towels along with bottled water was available.

Dined at Madison’s where we had the trout and vegetables. Service was good along with good meal. Our favorite was Four65 Bistro! Awesome bartender, drinks and food. We also enjoyed drinks in the Hummingbird Lounge.

Just a great get-a-way!

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary at Old Edwards Inn and Spa after hearing about it from a friend we were not disappointed. The staff here treats you with kindness and respect and makes you feel as part of their family. You can tell the leadership of this organization has instilled a pride in all the employees. The facility is beautiful and the Falls Cottage where we stayed was outstanding .We enjoyed our time at the spa with an outstanding massage and time spent in the huge hot tub in both the men’s and women’s area as well as the steam room. Our dinner at Madison’s the premiere restaurant on the property was a great experience. Our server Shafrey was outstanding and the food was very good. Lunch at the Wine Garden was great and Jessie the bartender was a very nice young man who made us feel right at home. When we arrived we were greeted by a young man named Faroouqe who took care of us like we were part of his family. He took us to our room, carried our luggage and made sure everything was perfect in our room. His champagne greeting was a nice touch and really got us off to z as great start on our three day stay. The pools on the property our great and the attendants were very nice. Our room attendants were very personable and really took great care of our room.
This wax just a wonderful experience and we will definitely be going back. Thank you to all the staff who made this a wonderful 40th celebration!

We recently visited OEI to celebrate our son's college graduation. Everything you have read about the serenity, comfort and food are spot on. The first 24hours of our stay were beyond expectations. Upon checking in, the staff congratulated our son and had a cake (that we pre-ordered), and a gift (nice surprise) in his room. These were thoughtful gestures. The following day, our son went to the pool area to order lunch. As soon as he entered the gated area, one of the attendatnts approached him and requested his name and room number. He responded, the attendant verified his information and told him that the other pool served food. He went to the second pool and ordered food with the bartender. Another attendant approached him requesting the same information. By the way, we are an African-Ameican family. Once he shared this, I went to the front desk to express my disappointment. After speaking to three different managers (one called later), we only had inconsistent policies, contradictions and no apology. While eating breakfast the next day before our departure, we were given a complimentary "fruit plate". Racial profiling at its worst! Our son was made to feel singled out and suspicious. We never saw anyone else approached for identification. We will never return. I urge other people of color to be intentiional about where you choose to spend your money. For everyone who believes in the principle that no guest should be made to feel this way, I urge you to reconsider visiting OEI.

Response from Amanda S, Marketing Director at Old Edwards Inn and Spa
Responded Jun 8, 2020
First of all, congratulations on celebrating your son's graduation! We are so glad you chose Old Edwards for your celebration, and we appreciate your mentioning the things that you really enjoyed about your stay. Please know, as our general manager explained during your conversation, that it is our strict policy to have all guests and members sign in at each pool, and the pool attendant was just doing his job. We greatly regret that this was taken to be racial profiling and are unsure how this conclusion was reached. Since I am not aware of a connection between fruit and racial profiling, I cannot speak to that perception. However, we do greatly apologize that you were left to believe that this abhorrent behavior occurred at any business of, or by any person associated with, Old Edwards Hospitality Group, as that is simply not who we are -- on any level.

We chose Old Edwards to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. It was a wonderful stay with the most professional and helpful staff, trained to perfection. Our room in the Falls Cottages was ultra comfortable with a fireplace that worked very well. Our bathroom had Molton Brown products, a fabulous shower with multiple sprayers and a valve that sets your water temperature.
The in-room coffee maker made the best coffee! Overall, our room felt very clean and bright. Next to our room was a heated outdoor pool with year round swimming!
We loved all the restaurants and had excellent food. Great shopping and more restaurants are only a block away. We recommend a Spa Package. Visiting the Spa is more luxury to enjoy.

My husband and I had the pleasure of a weekend away at the Old Edwards Inn & Spa and I can honestly say it was the best weekend away that we have spent together. Stephen and the front reception team made us feel welcomed and valued as guests and the meals that we enjoyed at Madison's Restaurant were exceptional. Jennifer "Jenny"was our server for our lunch on Saturday and was polished, professional and attentive without being "too" much. We definitely will be making future reservations and will strongly encourage our friends and family to take a much needed break and visit as well.

When covid keeps you from Europe for your 20th anniversary, then head to Highlands and the Old Edwards! We had a fantastic stay in a Lodge One Bedroom suite with a nice welcome cocktail upon arrival. We were across a small parking lot from the Lodge building (where you check in and the location of a bar) and close to both pools. Service was great and we were surprised to find rose petals, an anniversary card and a split of champagne when we came back from dinner our first night. I could have lived in the bathroom solely because of the heated floors! Several reviewers mention the daycare behind some of the Lodge accommodations but we were not bothered by the children's voices. There was a rear porch which might have had some increased noise at certain times, but we did not use the porch on this stay. It was a bit dark and I was seeking warm sunlight!

The walk to Main St can be achieved either by walking out of the Lodge parking area to 4th St or you can wind your way down through the pool deck and several sets of stairs and gates. If you head towards 5th, it's a quick 2 block walk down to Mountain Fresh. All depends on what you feel like doing.

It really was a great time. The highlight for me was afternoons spent in the warm October sun by the pools, which were still open and heated (slightly heated). The gentlemen working at the Hickory pool were super nice and accommodating even when we ordered a snack 20 minutes before they closed up. The Falls pool felt a bit more secluded and has a cool fireplace with seating on both sides-one side inside the pool area and the other faces an open grassy courtyard by the Falls cottages. The fire gets lit as evening approaches.

However my cherished October pool time almost did not happen because I read online that the pools were closed for the season! However I'd read somewhere else that they were heated and I've stayed at 200 Main on previous trips and knew that pool was open in early October. Therefore I erred on the side of hope and packed a suit. I say all of this to point out that the online communication- the use of the viewer tool to look through the weekly newsletter, etc could be done better with information more easily findable. Also we found the fitness class schedule but no where did it mention whether reservations were needed for yoga or for "aqua fit". We tried texting the info text number that we were given at check in, but we received a generic response that the fitness room is first come first served, Covid limit of 12. I assumed that meant the weights and treadmills, but how does that apply to classes? That info could be better presented.

Regardless, these are not things that would keep us from visiting again nor did they put a damper on the trip; I just like clear information that does not change whether I'm looking on the actual site, on a printed paper, or on an online viewer thing.

Because my wife's maiden name was 'Edwards,' and with the recommendation of friends, we spent a couple of nights at the Old Edwards Inn for our 20th anniversary. (In reality, we only asked for one night, but, long story short, the reservation specialist was able to get us a second night at a slightly reduced rate.)

The entire staff at Old Edwards wanted to bend over backwards to ensure we enjoyed out stay. They even gave us a hand-signed anniversary card. We stayed at the Falls Rainbow cottage. Room was very nice...we made full use of the fireplace and the heated bathroom floors.

Admittedly, we made little use of the amenities at the inn/spa. We don't drink, so we didn't have any of the complimentary champagne; we did not eat at the restaurants on the property; did not use the pool/spa; but we did take advantage of the free Dove bars (a very nice touch)! Because TS Sally was coming through Highlands during our stay, we spent most of our time enjoying the beautiful accommodations. We had easy access to the shops in town, and enjoyed walking up/down Main St (both in and out of the rain).

For our next visit, we might try staying at the inn, just to see the difference between the inn and the cottage.

Our only suggestion (and this is a nit) would be to have a microwave in the room, to complement the refrigerator. Other than that, we were very pleased with our stay. Will likely visit again one day!

We just returned from a short two-night stay for our first visit to Old Edwards. I wish we could have stayed longer. This outstanding hotel is top notch in every way. The decorative and romantic rooms are lovely, and the grounds are truly beautiful. We had an adorable cottage room and enjoyed our fireplace on the cool fall nights. Our bathroom had a great free-standing tub, huge marble shower plus heated floor throughout. Each room feels privately secluded to allow for a relaxing and peaceful stay. It is hard describing this place as the hotel takes up a few city blocks of the main village area of Highlands. Most buildings are spread out yet close enough that you can walk to the spa, workout facilities, restaurants etc. Car parking is available in numerous lots depending on the location of your room. The staff here excels at customer service in all areas. The Madison Restaurant and Wine Garden Cafe serve excellent meals and the servers here will go over and beyond. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about Old Edwards Inn. The location is ideal as you can stroll the village and shop, enjoy the delightful jacuzzi tubs or take a short drive to local hiking trails or golf. This is a wonderful getaway spot, and we will be back.

We stayed in a Cottage Deluxe King Room in the Lodge as we were looking for privacy, seclusion, and peace and quiet to re-energize. We booked a package and the property arranged all of our services with the Spa ahead of time. Rooms had everything we needed: heated bathroom floors, spa like shower heads, large robes, etc. You are able to order room-service from any of the properties restaurants which is extremely convenient. The property has beautiful landscaping and views so make sure you walk around above the pool and enjoy the fire pit, champagne, and the views. We will be returning in a few weeks! :-). Enjoy!

Are you pet friendly? Thank you.
Answer from Escape66307635770
No, we love them but pets are not permitted at Old Edwards Inn. Thank you for asking. However, our sister property, 200 Main, has a few dog-friendly rooms. You could also consider Park on Main across the street, known widely to be very open to pets. We wish you the best as you plan your visit to Highlands.

The lodge is in the center of the OEI grounds, whereas the historic inn is right on Main Street, although I'm sure some of its rooms are not on the street. We stayed in the lodge and found it to be very quiet and relaxing. We reserved a king Lee Suite, which has a great view of the grounds and the mountains in the distance, which, our steward told us, the other rooms don't necessarily have.
