Detailed Reviews
We held our 15-person staff retreat in June 2019 (and held a two-day staff retreat three years ago). The space was beautiful, the grounds were lovely, the food provided by one of their recommended caterers was superb, and all in all it was a wondeful experience. I highly recommend!

We were invited to a wedding here and it was a beautiful spot--serene and lovely with a pond and pavilion, buffet/dance room and gardens. Very romantic! It is on a hillside so high heels are a bit tricky, and there are stairs to climb to the main room.

My husband and I just got married at BOI, an absolute gem of a spot to have the wedding of our dreams. The waterfalls, koi, abundance of butterflies and flowers created a gorgeous backdrop to our intimate celebration with friends and family. All of our guests loved the venue, especially unexpected details like the hidden swings, fire pit and lovely goats! We had our ceremony at the pergola, surrounded by guests seated around the pond. Our reception tent was on the other side of the pond, which allowed for guests to roam the grounds freely to the pavilion.
The owners Susan and Alan were very attentive and accommodating, always offering a helping hand and smile. We were able to plan our wedding and details with them well ahead of time with regular check-ins leading up to the weekend, which gave us peace of mind to enjoy our special day. We highly recommend Bend of Ivy, a treasure of a place in the beautiful mountains of NC.

The location is beautiful and really gives the feel of being remote. The meticulously maintained grounds, including a pond and trickling stream, add to the serene setting. There is ample outdoor seating around the pond, along a path, and in the boathouse. The lodge is just a bit more rustic than anticipated, but was very clean and comfortable. Our group hired a caterer to provide our meals; I'm not sure how food is handled if you do not have your own caterer. Overall a very good experience!

Wonderful lodge and grounds set in a gorgeous valley. So many nooks and quiet areas around every corner. A peaceful pond and a stream run through the middle of the property. Several nice trails to hike around. A great place for a retreat or special event.

For the second time, a large group of us met at Bend of Ivy Lodge for an annual retreat.
The peacefulness and cleanliness of this property is beyond expectations. It's located down in a "hollow," and you truly get the feeling you are away from the world.
Twin beds in each bedroom provide enough sleeping arrangements for probably about 20. There is a large kitchen that can be used for an extra fee and enough bathrooms to accommodate our group of women.
There is a large open seating "living room" with enough chairs for everyone (comfier than 3 years ago!) and dining tables on the enclosed back porch.
We did have issues with the dishwasher but could use the industrial washer/cleaner in the larger kitchen.
I was sad to hear that Bend of Ivy is being sold, but hope whomever sells it will still offer it as a retreat facility.
