This hotel was very clean, staff was friendly, and close to restaurants and shopping. Pet friendly though no pet smell. Grab and go breakfast was good. We will definitely stay here again when passing through.
My husband and I decided to stay in this hotel due to rating and cost. We found the staff to be very welcoming. We reserved a king suite. The room was large and roomy. It had a slight musty smell; I assumed it was probably dampness from carpets being cleaned. When staying away from home one of the most important things is having a comfortable bed to sleep on. The linens were fine, but the bed was extremely firm for myself and my husband. If you like a firm mattress, this is the place for you.
My husband and I booked a room at this hotel in order to break up our drive to the beach. First, I thought I was booking thru Holiday Inn but it turned out I was actually in the booking.com website - which I HATE with a passion. Using booking.com often limits any changes you can make to your reservation and I have gotten burned by them in the past. So, I booked the room and specially asked for a King suite with a sofa and a bath tub. I have restless leg syndrome and a bad night for me means being up and down all night with leg spasms. I often need to run a bath to settle down the nerves and I also end up on the sofa at home some times so my poor husband has half a chance of getting any sleep. I was contacted prior to my arrival to say they did not have rooms with both items so I settled on the bath tub and two side chairs with ottomans that sat in front of a silly fireplace that did not produce any heat. Evidently since the room had a large whirlpool tub the fireplace was to add to the ambience for a romatic getaway. The room was clean and the staff was all pleasant, but I never thought to ask about the "hot" breakfast that is included with the room or use of the pool. The next morning I got up and went down to get breakfast only to have the desk clerk roll out two small carts with packaged pastries and two types of bagels, oranges, and sunny delight to drink - no milk and no toaster for the bagels (but they did offer cream cheese). I don't ever mind paying more for a hotel room if it includes breakfast since it is convenient and still cheaper than going to a sit down restaurant nearby and ordering breakfast from a menu. I paid almost $165 for this room and got no sofa, a whirlpool tub in the same room as the bed so I could not take a bath late at night without waking him up, no sofa, no amenities and no hot breakfast. Had I realized that before booking I would certainly have looked elsewhere. The hotel was nice but nothing special and the price just made me want to kick myself that I did not pay closer attention when booking this room at a hotel surrounded by many other hotels that were probably cheaper and gave me what I wanted.…
Was told we couldn't check in early because there was nothing available but parking lot remained pretty empty even at 9:30 p.m. one of our beds was slanting and it wasn't a visible problem. Mattresses were springy. Pool was closed. They said it was because of the virus but we stayed in another Holiday inn an hour away the night before and that pool was open so we were surprised. That wasn't a big deal but would have been good to know in advance. Room was spacious.
Very friendly staff. On Thursday evening they offer a managers reception with cookies, cheese, Chex Mix, and if you wish two adult beverages. As with most small town hotels they usually have dated and worn furniture. For example, the dresser drawer will not close and the microwave stand worn. Not usual, but dust along the edges of the carpet and my worst fear mold along the shower door and crevices. Is it a bad place to stay, nope, I’m just a germaphobe. If your tired after a long day driving, you can park the car and walk to several restaurants and cross the street to shop. It’s also very close to the Andy Griffith Museum and Pilot Mountain.
