We stayed here for a quick weekend trip to the beach. The rates were good and we were only going for a couple days so we decided to book it. If you have realistic expectations the property will be exactly what you expect. An old motel with no bells and whistles (except for the coffee available in the lobby daily)...

I appreciate your review and feedback. Our location is certainly key and I can say our staff works very hard to maintain cleanliness. I will certainly let them know your kind words to that regard. We are an older property but each off season work to improve every way we can before the next season. I hope you can return...

This place is old Nags Head, nothing fancy. At first sight, I was disheartened. The rooms are small and dark, but after staying two nights, even the room grew on me. It had a king bed and small refrigerator and microwave and that was about it. But it was clean, the bed slept ok, the shower worked well, and we...

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to review our property on Trip Advisor. I am happy to hear that you found our place in July and we were able to provide you with a decent and comfortable stay at an affordable cost. We are an older property however the owner invests each year to upgrade the rooms while maintaining...

When we checked in the bathroom sink was half full and stopped up. We called the front desk and a nice young man came and looked at it and said it would slowly empty and he could not fix it but would have maintenance come in the morning. We were leaving in the morning. It eventually went down if you...

We stayed one Saturday night while passing through the Outer Banks. It is difficult to book a room for one night in that area, but the Colonial Inn was happy to help. It is an older style motel with a few modern conveniences. The rooms are small but adequate. A mini-fridge and a microwave were included in the room. The...

Very comfortable smaller independently owned motel with the character of old time Nags Head w/updated renovations and amenities. There's a wonderful seaside deck w/picnic table and Adirondack chairs that's great for people watching, reading or having morning coffee by the water. Office staff and maid service very kind and accommodating. There's free coffee in the office morning to eve. Make...

Hi Maizy! Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay at our hotel. We are very pleased to know that you appreciate the old world charm of our hotel and noticed some of the changes and updates that we've made this year. The new deck and adirondack chairs are the new favorites of our guests,...

This place was disgusting. A room so tiny it could be my closet, that smelled (like mold, like animal, like dirt, or like the maid who constantly smoked outside our window)...I wanted to shower every second I was in this place...but no way you could pay me to get in that shower..even if I did, chances were I couldn't lift...

I sincerely apologize that your stay was so far below expectation. I do appreciate the feedback. I can honestly say of my four years managing this property this seems very atypical of a stay with us. I hope otherwise you enjoyed the beautiful Outer Banks and are able to return to the beach soon.

Rooms where OK, bed was very firm. But the staff was fantastic. When we told the guy at the front desk we were celebrating a birthday he gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. The cleaning ladies were also exeptionaly friendly.

We like to stay at the Colonial for a couple of nights prior to checking into our week vacation house. If you are looking for a place right off of the beach at a decent price during peak season this is it. It is not a new build so expect some old charm. Nags Head is not as commercial as say a Panama City Beach so getting a room right of the beach is not easy unless you are renting...

Decent place if you're not staying the whole day inside the room. Wifi though has bad connection, you have to be close to the office. I like that there's a kitchenette in every room I think. The pier is right next to it. Perfect spot for sunrise.

I appreciate your feedback as it only helps us improve. I can say we doubled our WIFI speed and placed additional hot spots to improve connections. Of our 38 rooms 16 do have full kitchens that are fully equipped. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and the beautiful sunrises. Hope you can return soon.
