Stayed for 3 nights
1. Rooms - good view and a lot of light, facilities are good but just a very weird smell like the carpet just had been washed before...
2. Internet access - on todays world, it shouldn’t need 3 different staff and...More
My wife's former employer booked the hotel for their Annual meeting and they invited us to go along. Its an amazing hotel and very friendly to foreigners. Check-in was on the slow side but when you show up with over 150 people it really puts...More
Due to travel delay, I only got to stay for one night, instead of two nights as originally planned. The bed is comfortable, and room is spacious. However, I booked a room with river view, and all I see outside of window is a sports...More
I have been staying at this property over the past 6 years and is still the best hotel in Yangzhou in my opinion. I was assigned to my preferred room on the 25th floor away from the major road. The quality of the breakfast at...More

If we're talking about the same two cities, Guilin and Yangzhou are nowhere near each other. It's like a 4 and a half hour flight. This particular Shangri-La is in Yangzhou, but the Shangri-La hotels is a chain throughout China. Make sure you're booking the correct Shangri-La. There is one in every major city.

There's a nearby shopping mall about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. It's bigger than a community mall, it has a steakhouse, some international fast food chains, Starbucks, Watsons, even Zara. I don't remember / notice a 711 but if they have all these stores, there must be a convenience store around. I didn't get to the city center but I heard it's about 30-minute taxi ride from the hotel. This Shangri-La is sufficient enough as it has several restaurants in its hotel, and it has more than enough bottled water in the room.
