What a disappointment this was. I had booked and paid ahead ($140) for one night. Arrived to find nobody in the office, our key was left in a drop-box with wifi numbers. The wifi never worked at all. The air conditioning was quite broken, it worked at 100 percent or nothing, so either froze or nothing. There were no screens on windows or the door. Solid block room, so no air circulation as door had to be shut as there were many flying insects wanting to share the accommodation. The room was okay, the bed was quite comfortable. Everything else was 2 star, if that. TV recepition poor. Hardly slept at all because of freezing air conditioning or nothing if turned it off. Worst night's sleep I've had for years.

Room Tip: I would never book a room sight unseen again after this experience. It was dreadful.

At the time of our visit the Restaurant was not open but the manager - Georgie - and her husband provided an excellent room service. We had a ground floor twin-bed unit and although it felt at times a bit cramped with all our month-long touring necessities, it was clean, comfortable and had a large refrigerator for all of the essentials. Better yet, Georgie made us the best Lamb Shank ($30.00) we've EVER had! And the mountain of fresh wok-fried vegetables were tasty, deliciously flavourful and altogether too much even for adult appetites to demolish entirely. The owners of this motel are clearly not spending much on its maintenance but Georgie's (and her husband's) friendliness more than compensated for those deficiencies.

Rooms are very dated but clean and comfortable. The management are very friendly. The in-room meals were huge. And there's a mini bar. Pity the restaurant wasn't open because of covid. It's a great old building. Don't expect the Hilton but if you want character it's got heaps.

We hosted the North Burnett Tourism Forum at the Monto Colonial and the lessee Georgie was extremely helpful. The food was amazing and so was the hospitality. Our presenters stay in the accommodation and were pleased with the clean rooms and comfortable quite nights sleep. Thank you
