Called to see if we needed to book. We're told we could be fitted in. No one there when we arrived but quite a few when we left. Menu is good Aussie tucker. We had the burger and that was food for the rest of the day. The pub is historic and a chat with the publican revealed part had... More

Called in for lunch whilst touring clare valley. Lunch was excellent for very reasonable prices ... chunky chips sensational. Service great. Great outdoor dining area. Worth the stop! Classic old style pub.

Stopped there for lunch. Great generous portions, yummy pub grub and friendly staff. Missed the specials board and their beef cheek pies (apparently very good). Next time we will be more onto it. Good basic seating outside along with the magpies.

Stopped in for lunch after visiting Martindale Hall and Mintaro Maze. Both of us had the stump burger, which we both enjoyed a lot. It had heaps of filling and was very tasty, and came with chunky chips. All cooked just right. Would definitely recommend, and go again. Good old fashioned country pub, friendly service.

We had a great day out with members of our car club and finished up at the Magpie and Stump Hotel for lunch. We had a special menu as we were a large group. The meals were really good and we had a choice of 3 main courses and 2 desserts. I chose the roast beef which was very good.... More

I found the meals at this pub to very ordinary for the price paid. I thought the service could have been better as well. I had the Asian Duck and Sticky Date pudding. The duck was tough, and the sticky date pudding had the taste and texture of those ready made puddings that can be bought from the supermarket. They... More

Went there for lunch and dinner (only place in town for a pub type meal). Menu is decidedly ordinary, as is the wine list (in the middle of a great wine area!). Food took an hour to arrive on each occasion and the staff were completely overwhelmed by what I would have though was just and average day (two tables... More

Another day out with the Ulysses( motorcycle club for mature adults Over 45) on the 19th of April landed us at the Magpie & Stump hotel in Mintaro, Clare Valley, South Australia. There were about 15 or 16 of us here to enjoy a lunch in a wonderfully peaceful & historic setting. The little town of Mintaro is certainly worth... More

Spent a fantastic couple of hours sat in the beer garden at the front of the pub. Mintaro is a beautiful little heritage town and the pub is right in the heart of it. The food is basic pub grub but was tasty, fresh and very well presented. Well worth popping in if you're in the area.

We stopped off here for lunch on a lovely sunny Sunday, from the outside it looks very authentic and welcoming. The staff were friendly but the meal was decidedly average. The burger was ok nothing special in taste terms but it had so much stacked on top of it that it was very off putting. The extras were all mentioned... More
