I was able to stay in one of the updated rooms which was fine. I needed to leave early but it was workable and convenient to the Sylvan Heights Park. Area seems to be a pass thru for travelers and local sightseeing activity is the Sylvan Heights Bird Park.
We stayed the night for an event at the bird park. The Inn is a little dated. Check in was pleasant. The rooms show their age but overall it wasn't terrible. Access overnight or early in the morning are difficult. The main entrance locks when you go out and you have to ring a bell for entrance.
very nice place. quiet, very clean. the owners are friendly and very accommodating. I have stayed there for several months during the week for work in the area and I would recommend it. should I be working there again I will definitely stay there.
This is a very clean, comfortable and surprisingly unique inn, very high quality and good value. We arrived late at night after a long day travelling. The owner checked us in efficiently and even willingly found a home for the nearly wilting flower bouquets I had with me. Our room had more than the average amenities that would have come in handy if we were staying longer -- a mini-fridge, microwave, two-burner stove and sink in a kitchenette area. Alas, we had to check out early the next morning so we had no time to sample the breakfast, but the common areas felt like home. I highly recommend staying here if you are anywhere in this part of NC.
A recent visit to Scotland Neck, North Carolina afforded a stay at Scotland Neck Inn, a nice, very clean inn with a lovely, gentle proprietress. Lots of plants in her lobby made you feel you were in her home instead of a hotel. Our room was clean and neat, and less than $100! But a warning to the wise: there are only two restaurants in town besides fast food, and they close early and often, so food is a problem. FRANKIE HOLBROOK, NEW YORK CITY
