Southern Pines, North Carolina

This old hotel has been around since the early 1900's when Southern Pines was first establishing it's bona fides as a resort. The main building in it's day was beautiful and it has had upgrades throughout the years. The staff is accommodating and attentive but the food leaves something to be desired. The latter is a shame as for many...

This course was beautiful! Fairways, tees and greens were in great shape. The bermuda greens rolled straight and true. Only 2 issues: the pace of play was a little slow and some of the bunkers had more dirt than sand, so the lies were inconsistent. Other than that, I would play again in a heartbeat!!!

The brunch here is much acclaimed- both in reviews and by local reputation. And, all the usual ingredients are present- a bountiful array of food, bottomless champagne, and omelette/carving station. So, what's missing? To start, the dining room where the brunch is served is dated- not quaint dated, but old dated. Think of your grandparents living room- old furniture, worn...

Mid Pines completed a restoration project about 3 years ago and now that the changes have grown in the course is fantastic. This was my forth round in past 2 years and it is getting better each year, that is the course not my game. Greens will absolutely challenge you on every chip and putt. The routing is excellent, no...

Magical place. Yes it is old and creaky, but then so is your wonderful grandmother who could take you on a trip to yesteryear with her imagination. Don't miss this place with its sense of history and grandeur from days gone by. Staff is fantastically friendly. My grandkids were allowed to roam the common rooms, playing the grand piano, playing...

Located alongside the mid pines golf course, when you drive up this place looks spectacular. However, even though we were one of maybe 5 other guests, we were given a view that overlooks a rusted roof. I closed the shades it looked so terrible. The carpet in the room did not look as if it had been vacuumed in a...

Stayed here for a cga event. This place is old, creaky, and a little tired but is one of the classic pinehurst area inns. Temper your accommodation expectations and soak in the history as this place is oozing with it. Would stay again. And this review doesn't take into consideration the fabulous golf course outside! Classic Sandhills !

We went there to play golf and stayed at the resort. Golf was great at Mid Pines and Pine Needles if you like Donald Ross golf courses and I do. Also the accommodations were good and the breakfast was really good. Also the accommodations were really close to the city center for good places to eat and be entertained.

For almost 100 years Mid Pines has been welcoming golfers and guests to this magnificent Resort. Donald Ross designed a golf course that tests the skills of seasoned pros and amateurs with the same challenging standards. Go across the street and get that same challenge turned up a notch at Pine Needles. Donald Ross courses would require more words that...
