I had a business colleague come to Southern Pines in September 2016 and I put him at Mid-Pines because we both love golf and I knew he would enjoy the history and ambiance of the hotel. Unhappily, he reported to me that it was a little below par and he probably would have been happier at a more modern hotel....

The golf experience is excellent.A wonderful course and a very attentive golf shop. The hotel is historic and adequate. The service level of the food service needs management attention as they understaffed.

We arrived at 11:30. Very few people were there. We wanted to sit and look out over the golf course. NOTE: you have to have RESERVATIONS to sit on the indoor porch. Also, they must have poured the champagne and memosas early because they were flat. Lamb was cold but flavorful. Food including quite a variety of seafood was good!...

The golf course at Mid Pines is a classic. You are better off staying at Pine Needles across the street which is the sister property. There is no way this is a 4 star hotel. Old and classic yes. but the rooms leave a lot to be desired for what you are paying for. Never got the room to cool...

Stayed in Holly Villa on a 3 day golf trip, playing a couple of nameless goat tracks, Mid Pines, and Mid South. The lodging at Mid Pines is what it is and you should not expect lavish and extravagant accommodations, but for a guys golf trip it is the perfect place. Holly Villa has a wonderful view of #10 green...

My wife and I recently moved from Southern California to the beautiful Pinehurst area. We had friends tell us about the Sunday brunch at Mid Pines. Yesterday was our first visit (absolutely not our last) and it was everything we were told and more. From the minute we arrived the staff couldn't do enough to make sure our every need...

We all enjoyed Sunday brunch at this historic place. Yes, it shows its age here and there but that's all part of the charm. The public rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff in particular were attentive and helpful. The brunch buffet was amazing, with carving stations for beef and lamb and a seafood table on one side, a long run...

A quick solo trip for a fix on a classic Donald Ross course. The staff was very professional and accommodating for a single golfer. The amenities were impeccable and very relaxing. And the golf course was beautiful and challenging. Mid-Pines is a must for golfers. For the golf, the surroundings, and the relaxing atmosphere and camaraderie to talk over the...

I do not play golf so I will limit my comments to the hotel room. If you enjoy staying in a hotel built in the 20's you may like Mid Pines. No elevator, steam heat ( not adjustable in the room ), old furniture, worn out carpet, a dated t.v. and squeaky floors. On the plus side, the rooms are...

From the moment we walked through the door to see no one at the check-in desk (he was showing someone the rooms) I knew this was going to be a disappointment. The room needing a good cleaning, the toilet wasn't working properly and the noise from outside was deafening. I would never stay there again. Next time I will stick...
