Marilyn is a gracious host and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. We arrived 4 days after Hurricane Matthew had gone and she had been overfilled in order to accomdate those running from the storm. Yet was ready for us when we arrived. We had booked a room upstairs but there was a room available on the...

Our accommodation was in Chestnut Manor, a rental house around the corner from the inn. Tryon was busy because of the second annual Tryon International Film Festival (TRIFF), and the Melrose Inn was filled with film people from all over. Melrose is located right across the street from the wonderful Tryon Fine Arts Center. We were attracted to Melrose because...

We had the privilege of staying at the Melrose over this past Labor Day weekend. We actually stayed there a week while preparing for my son’s wedding and a family get together after the wedding. I just want to say that staying with Marilyn was more than just another accommodation, but was a family experience. My wife and I arrive...

Vacation Lover needs to get a clue. This was one of THEE most memorable stays I have had anywhere in the world and I have been around. The staff alone would take a page to praise. Marilyn, the owner, has done an incredible job in the "funky" décor. Some of her works as a world renowned quilter hang in the...

Love staying @ Melrose Inn! It is an enchanting experience, from sitting on the front porch in the afternoon to waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking in the morning. It is so dog friendly that Marilyn offered to scramble eggs for our four legged children! Located in the charming historic district of Tryon, the foothills of the...

The room wasn't as clean as it should have been and had some roaches. Staff was okay. Tryon and the surrounding area was very boring, couldn't find a good restaurant. Think i will look elsewhere next time.

My sister and I took my mom on a trip to where she was born, Tryon. Melrose Inn was the perfect spot and a block or two from downtown. The afternoon snacks and beverages, the breakfast, and coffee set up showed the love and effort the owner gives her guests. The rooms all have different themes and the beds are...

This was my first solo stay at a B&B and I could not have picked a better place. Marilyn is so kind and welcoming to all her guests, and we chatted for nearly an hour in the parlor after I checked in. I loved the history of the inn and the "Egyptian Room" was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The inn...

This is Marilyn's home which she loves and loves to share. Her website is accurate in every respect. She has beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks out all the time. Breakfast is a good, hearty meal that is more than enough to eat. Marilyn is very attentive without hovering. To be clear, this is not a noveau, ultra-chic, spa-in-the- bathroom...

Thank you again Marilyn and staff for hosting another of our company's Christmas parties. We really enjoyed our dinner, the warm weather out on the porch and our stay in the golf room. Oh, and I certainly can't forget breakfast! Also, that you as always for being so welcoming to our four-legged friends. Peabody enjoyed his time at the Inn...

Marilyn's Melrose Inn and Artist Retreat Center defines elegance and character. This inn, from 1889, has themed bedrooms -- Egyptian, Equestrian, Floral Abundance, Renaissance, Whimsy, Golf, Asian Influences, French Provincial, Ocean, Country, etc. -- All with private baths. The 'grand old dame' is loaded with artwork of all kinds in every nook and cranny -- even the closets! It oozes charm, grace, and intimacy everywhere you go or look. The grounds, including a goldfish pond and hundreds of flowers, bushes, and trees, have numerous private little nooks to sit, relax, and enjoy the peace, quiet, and tranquility.
