I am a frequent traveler. I am also a SPIRE ELITE member of IHG which is the highest tier travel program that Holiday Inn has. That simply means I have a lot of experience with all of the IHG hotels. I can say without a doubt that this is the worst experience I have had at any of their hotels. While I like a friendly, clean experience I am not overly picky or demanding. Look at my other reviews most are very positive. So, sit back, relax and let me tell you THE TOP TEN REASONS YOU SHOULD NEVER STAY AT THIS LOCATION: 10. THE LOCATION IS TERRIBLE-I lived a number of years in Winston-Salem. It is a beautiful city that I love. This location is rough for several reasons. The hotel is difficult to access because it requires a U-turn on a very busy parkway. There are frequent wrecks in the area and entering and exiting are challenging. There are no pharmacies, grocery stores, or markets anywhere close. While it is centrally located, it is a less-than-desirable part of town. 9. THE HOTEL IS LOUD-RIGHT IN THE INTERSTATE- Look on Google maps, the hotel is located in the middle of a clover leaf off of I-40. The windows are unsealed, single pain glass. You can hardly hear the TV in your room from the roar of the busy interstate. At night I found myself counting the number of seconds between bursts of traffic. I can't fathom that they built this location with such poor windows. I woke up one night thinking I was about to be hit by a passing semi since the traffic was so loud. 8. THE PROPERTY IS AGING AND POORLY MAINTAINED-I had access to several rooms during my stay. All of the rooms had peeling wallpaper, loose baseboards, and non functioning exhaust fans in the bathrooms. It was cold during our stay, the room heater/AC unit was non-functioning because the plug was messed up and unplugged. There was just an overall "rough" aging appearance. 7. THE WORST INTERNET OF ANY HOTEL I'VE STAYED AT SINCE DIAL UP-The internet was very slow, would not stay connected and was basically unusable our entire stay. This was on various devices, in various places. Others in our party said the same. 6. POOR RESPONSE TO COVID-19-The location took the easy way out by limiting services. The breakfast options are minimal. There is no seating area for socializing or eating. (It is closed because a drunk driver apparently drove through the side of the building and a large gapping hole covered by plastic tarps is now in its place.) The lobby looks like a crime scene with yellow danger tape and a wall made of furniture to block access to the lobby area. 5. POOR SECURITY-We were given key cards to access a room at check-in. When we went to the room, it was already occupied, opening the door the beds were unmade and the room was filled with luggage and personal items. The front desk seemed confused. I'm glad someone wasn't wondering around in my room unattended. 4. LOTS OF SMOKE FOR A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY-On three different nights we were disturbed by the strong smell of cigarette smoke. The hotel is non-smoking but people were smoking inside somewhere. I looked out the window, and even walked around outside. It was not coming from outside. 3. ROWDY CLIENTELE- This was the loudest hotel that I have stayed in. Nearly every night of our stay people came in, loudly talking, slamming doors, beating on doors, banging on the walls, joking, playing, running down the halls. I tolerate this when children are coming in. These were adults. When the front desk was contacted they said they would look into it. Nothing happened, the noise continued. One night until 3:00 in the morning. Our party had rooms on the first and third floor. The noise was on both floors, on multiple nights. 2. LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS-The staff is annoyed by having to serve customers. When we asked where guest laundry was located the desk clerk snapped back, "We don't have guest laundry." A few moments later we found the guest laundry on the second floor. When we asked for change to use the guest laundry, we were told, "We don't give change." No other options were given, no apology no gesture for other options for where to find change. Just an annoyed look and a rude wave of the hand. When we arrived there was only a half roll of toilet paper. When we went to ask for an extra roll, the desk clerk said, "Why do you need more toilet paper, you out?" (I wanted to say, "no, I collect it for a hobby.") She then said, "Go find a cleaning lady, they have it." No offer to find it, no offer to give us any, no apology for not having an extra roll in the room to begin with. The only efficient and kind staff member we encountered during our entire stay was the poor young lady that ran the breakfast area. She had to run herself to death because of how they operated the breakfast due to COVID. She was sweet and really tried. It is unfortunate that she has to work in this lousy location. AND FINALLY THE NUMBER ONE REASON TO AVOID THIS HOTEL-RUDE, RUDE, RUDE STAFF- Other than the breakfast area attendant, the rest of the staff was rude, unfriendly and inefficient. I am used to being greeted as I pass through the lobby. At this location that would never happen. As a matter of fact, you are gawked at as if you are in the way and an annoyance. I even tried speaking, and at the best the staff would mumble under their breath. There was no desire to help the customer in any way. There is a need for a complete turnover of staff. BONUS REASON NOT TO STAY HERE: While I was here they decided to trim the trees and bushes around the property. They did not bother to ask anyone to move their vehicle. I came out and obviously a branch or two had scraped my car as they were working. I looked it over and didn't notice anything permanent. Later I saw that they had indeed scratched my car. It was my fault for not pointing it out before I moved the car. So, that was the last slap in the face from this terrible location. You might wonder if I complained about all of these things. I did kindly approach the front desk with many issues. Basically I gave up. I was intimidated to even try to pursue anything. I did not have time to find another location. I should have asked for a full refund. Of course I was never recognized as a SPIRE elite member as usual. There are MANY accommodation options in Winston-Salem. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere besides the Holiday Inn Express Peters Creek Parkway.

Used to stay here several times a year. It has become a dive.Went to room. Toilet stopped up. No maintenance to bring plunger. Had us pick up move to another room. No biggie. Closed the curtains and the privacy curtain was ripped and shredded like Edward scissorhands attacked it. Couch stained everywhere. It was a disgusting visit. Customer service is not so good. Cleaning crew had vulgar unedited rap music playing, with F this and that and nigga this and that. Ridiculous.

We tried to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding weekend. The representative we spoke to was a little rude as she explained that we could not hold a block of rooms without giving them our credit card information. We thought this was very odd as we have held blocks of rooms with other HiExpress locations before. As a result, we simply asked our guests to call or go online for their reservations. A week before the wedding, my mother-in-law called to confirm her room. Even though she had a confirmation email with a confirmation number, the person at the front desk told her that her reservations had been cancelled. We then found out that they had added 2 rooms to my husband's reservation. We spent about 2 days talking to different representatives trying to figure out what was going on. Then my mother called to confirm a handicap room for my grandparents. The representative she initially spoke with was very unhelpful. However, The manager, Jamie, was able to assist her only when she visited in-person. Next, upon checking-in, my out-of-town wedding coordinator was shown not one, but TWO moldy/musty smelling rooms. The young man at the check-in counter was very patient and even agreed that the rooms did not smell fresh. After the second room did not work, they volunteered one of the executive suites. Stick with me, it gets better. The day of my wedding (actually 3 hours before the ceremony started), the hotel staff began harassing other guests because they were trying to get in get in touch with my coordinator. They wanted her to switch rooms because they now needed the suite for someone else. Later, the guests they contacted let us know that the hotel staff was very short and rude to them while on the phone. I was so embarrassed that we had recommended this hotel.

This Holiday Inn was right off the interstate which was nice at 11;30 pm and road weary .The front desk clerk was very nice and informative. Usually at this time of night they can be on the rude side, but her positive attitude got me though the check in process. Hotel was clean, smelled clean as well. lighting was good inside and out. I did not stay for breakfast and it would have been simple due to Covid. I recommend this hotel if traveling

We found conveniently located, quiet and we got a good nights sleep. The "breakfast" was the worst of four different Holiday Inn Express hotels we stayed at during the Covid 19 restrictions. No coffee available!
