We ended up here, because the hotel we reserved had a glitch in their online booking system and overbooked rooms, leaving us without a place to stay. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were nice and large. The beds were comfy, but the room is a bit tired. We had a toilet that leaked all night. Had we been staying for more than an evening, we would have requested a room change, but we got in late and were up and out early. The rooms were clean, however, and the breakfast that was included was a sit down, not a typical continental one you get in most hotels. It seems there is a newer part to Dickinson where hotels like the Hawthorn are, but this served us well for the night we stayed.

If it wasn't for Delano (hotel staff member), I woudln't give this 3 stars. First, they closed the bar and restaurant 2 weeks prior to us arriving. I suspect we had a mouse in our room as I found some what I think was feces on a pillow on the floor the next morning. I was supposed to get reimbursed for 1 night because we needed to leave earlier than first scheduled but still haven't seen that come in on my bank statement so essentially my card is still being charged full. The pool area is hot and quite small. What happened to pool areas being big where people could sit in there and watch their kids, have a table and chairs, etc.. I feel terrible for the staff that do show up to work. They work endless hours trying to be everything for everyone. Some rooms got cleaned over the course we were there but ours did not. AC filter must have been bad because it was cold in our room but way too much humidity so our sheets felt damp each night. Lots of out of service restroom issues in common areas. Plus side...rooms are big. That was the awesome part. Parking was adequate as well. location is close to pretty much everything in Dickinson and close to Interstate.

This rambling wreck was probably a stately hotel at one time. Don’t let the name “Astoria” fool ya. This is far from fancy or even nice. It appears to be sorely overstuffed with splatters on the walls, threadbare towels, empty shampoo dispensers and suspiciously stained chairs. But wait there’s more! Smears all over the doors of the elevator, shabby furniture falling apart and halls and stairs not vacuumed. The only reason it didn’t garner a 2 star rating is the pool and gym are oddly nice and well maintained.

TV kept freezing up at night but worked fine during the day. Wifi internet was very very slow during the evening as well. The room smelled like smoke (non-smoking hotel) and the parking lot was filled with construction trucks. The suite had a kitchen with no plates, utensils, or glassware. The room only had plastic cups and only one operational ice maker (on a different floor). It felt more like a motel than a hotel. Not a good value nor a pleasant experience.

I got into the hotel late at night and asked the receptionist working the desk if the gym was open. She said yes. The next morning when asking where it was located the man working behind the desk said it's not open which I found odd so I went to see for myself. No "closed" signs, lights on and my key worked so it was obviously opened to customers. I went in to use the treadmill and the man working the front desk came up, opened the door yelling and even shut off the lights and continued to yell. I felt this very clearly crossed a line and was an extreme over reaction. As he yelled he mentioned who I worked for and said "you think you are so special" which I found very odd. Our company uses this hotel regularly but he obviously has some aggression towards my company or others who have stayed here before me. He continued to yell "GET OUT" but I refused until he left first as a screaming man with the lights off doesn't seem like a safe place for a woman half his size to maneuver. I went out for a walk to cool down and wrap my mind around what had just happened and came back to find my key card no longer working. I went downstairs and asked the same man who was behind the counter to reactivate my key card and he replied no. There were other customers standing there and when I said I need access to my room he eventually did reactivate it. This is a hotel my work uses but I've written to my work reporting the incident and I am hoping they will cancel the contract. This man doesn't seem safe to be around and was unnecessarily aggressive about a gym. I was here for two nights for work and it was extremely uncomfortable and I worried about leaving my belongings in my room unattended as I wasn't sure how far he would take his aggression.

We booked this hotel because my nieces wedding reception was here and they reserved a block of rooms for us. I found out later that it was cheaper to book through booking! The lady at the desk was rude! I was going to pay cash and she said she wouldn’t take it because of COVID. I said this was the first place I had been to that didn’t take cash. She told me that if I was going to complain she wasn’t going to rent to me because she doesn’t rent rooms to complainers. We got our room and went to put stuff in the fridge and found that it didn’t work and the freezer was full of mold. When we told them they switched us to a different room. That room was t much better but the fridge worked. The air conditioning wasn’t cooling so we pulled out the filters to find they were so dirty the unit couldn’t work. The bathroom sink faucet wobbled, the cabinet where the fridge was had the door broke off and it was leaning against the wall, the ottoman was missing a leg and was stained, the thermostat on the wall didn’t work, the wrap on the box spring was ripped off and there was a dirty napkin on top of the lamp. We were there two nights and they didn’t clean our room or bring clean towels. We had to go ask for more toilet paper!! The room wasn’t very clean overall. Our friends checked in after us and were given the first room we had. They wiped the freezer out!! The fridge still didn’t work. I would never stay there again!! The outside of the place was over run with weeds and garbage.

The service I received was principally just from management. The occupancy rate is so low, that they're being intelligent , that's fine. Seems perhaps the location manager ( whom I mostly dealt with ) was overworked and overstressed. She may be worried about losing her job, I don't know but to me she was very rude and my experience was difficult

So on the surface, the place seems nice... but underneath the surface, my experience was difficult and disturbing.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The curtains were shredded, the refrigerator didn’t work, the rooms were never cleaned, the room smelled like pet urine, the pool was cold, the hot tub was broken, they didn’t serve breakfast, the dog walk area was a weedy dump filled with glass and trash, the staff were rude and the bar closed early. I would have NEVER stayed here if I would have known it was this bad. Find another hotel, there are many other places to stay in the area.

The hotel is a two star hotel so a person needs to lower expectations. The room is good size and clean so that was nice. It has a fridge, stove top, microwave in room. Outside sign says rooms start at $1000 for month stay. I suspect some people here are living here. There are three things that made me give this 2 stars versus 3. 1. Breakfast service stops at 9 on Sundays. 2. At least one of the towels in our room belonged in the rag bag versus a guests room. 3. I was making the bed and noticed blood stains on the blanket. Just small stains like someone cut themselves shaving or something but it kind of made me gag. I had that replaced and new one doesn't have blood stains but has some other kind of stains on it.

Carpets are stained and extremely dirty. I do t want to take my shoes off. Needs a update badly, as cabinets in the room are damaged. The hallway to the rooms smell like they were wet and not all the water was extracted. Sad story but want others to know
