We stayed one night in Mount Lodge and would return! Airy and peaceful bedroom (AirCon) with a view in a small green patio, a lovely housekeeper couple who prepared a tasteful breakfast. Be prepared to travel 30min either by train (5min walk fm hotel) or TukTuk / Uber to city center.
We stayed 2 nights at mount lodge. It was probably the best accomodation we had in our 3 weeks vacation. The host and his wife are beyond friendly. The breakfast was very good (toast with egg, fruits, jam, butter, tea, water..) The room was well furnished and the bed is very comfortable. As mentioned before the bathroom is outside the bedroom but thats no problem. There are only 3 other rooms in the house. So its quite and peaceful. The architecture is awesome! Very open and clean. We loved it!
Mount Lodge is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Columbo and set in a quiet residential are and only minutes from the city beach. We were greeted by the most delightful housekeeper couple I have ever encountered - Gamini and Padmini - just looking at them brings a smile! Nothing was too much trouble from organising transport, offering advice on local attractions and ensuring every whim was met. The hotel entrance belies the beauty within. Renovated with imagination and flair the rooms and outdoor spaces are full of exquisite decorative details chosen with discerning guests in mind. It is a small but perfect hotel serving traditional egg hopper breakfasts - although Gamini and Padmini offered just about anything we asked for. Beds were very comfortable and linen of high quality with good sized bathrooms and homely touches. …
My husband and I stayed at mount lodge boutique hotel and loved it. Padmini and Gamini were excellent and gracious hosts and nothing was too much. Our accommodation was first class. The bed beautifully comfortable, and the en-suite very generous. Breakfast was substantial and tasty, including a Sri Lankan spread and fresh fruit. Highly recommend staying here.
Everything about our stay at Mount Lodge was great. Gamini and Padmini were the most gracious hosts; we could come to them for anything. The lodgings were very clean and kept up. The service was amazing from food to transport plans. They provide you with info for what to see and when. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.
I very recently spent five nights at Mount Lodge and would highly recommend this boutique hotel to singles and couples for business or pleasure. The staff are super accommodating and very helpful. Only an hour+ from the airport, close to the beach, other hotels and restaurants, art galleries and all you may need including the train station, it's the perfect mix of a modern rustic vibe set perfectly in nature and art. Clean, secure and a fab breakfast which is included, Mount Lodge has a charming atmosphere.
I do not understand the good reviews for this. I was awaiting to go into hospital as I had suspected dengue fever. This place had lots of mozzies so I couldn't stay here. They wouldn't give me my money back either. Not a great experience.
We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is easy to locate and close to Mount Lavinia train station. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable, and the communal sitting area was a nice place to relax after a long day exploring Colombo. The beach is a short walk with a few OK restaurants. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable and relaxed. Breakfast was huge and delicious and set us up for the day! We didn't bother with lunch both days as breakfast was so filling!
Having stayed in 3 different hotels in Colombo on previous visits, this was my first time in a boutique guest house and what a lovely stay it was! Mount Lodge is beautifully designed with open areas and greenery that give respite from the hustle and bustle of the city outside. With arrival at 8:30pm, we had decided to have dinner at Mount Lodge and invited three local friends to join us. What more can one say when locals consider the standard of food as some of the best they have eaten? Padmini and her family are so kind and nothing is too much trouble. The top floor room was charming, and the sitting area with small patio perfect for having tea or a cold beer or two with our friends prior to venturing out into the city. My son especially loved the fact that it was mango season, and the tree outside would bear at least a few mangoes every day that he would collect and then give to Padmini to have for breakfast. The reservation process was fast and efficient with Ben replying promptly in answer to any question or request that was posed. Highly recommended for those who prefer charm and an intimate atmosphere as compared to the standard hotel fare.…
We were welcomed at 10pm by the lovely Giamini and his wife Padmini and shown to a beautiful room with huge double bed draped with large mosquito net. It was air conditioned and also had a large ceiling fan. We fell into bed and next morning had a wonderful breakfast of Hoppers (rice and coconut pancakes) with egg, and a plate of fresh tropical fruits. We stayed 11 nights at this lovely architect-designed guest house and used it as our base for exploring Sri Lanka. Padmini is the most amazing cook and we were treated to some fabulous breakfast and dinners. Extras worth mentioning are the excellent wifi, laundry facilities, comfortable sitting areas including pretty courtyard gardens and large library of books & DVDs.
