We just spent a weekend at Cataract Creek - amazing. I had originally planned to head out to Bluerock Campground in Sheep River Provincial Park, but was told about Cataract a day before. We took a chance and headed out there and it was worth it! It's so beautiful there. Quiet, and nestled beside mountains, this is a location that is worth returning to. We attempted to hike to the waterfalls about 3.3KM away, but got distracted happily roaming through the meadows and riverside - we'll return and get to those falls yet!

Cataract Creek lies in the extreme South of Kananaskis Country, out of the way of most tourists, from Highwood House 13 km south along the gravel Highway 940, but it's slowly growing in popularity.

There is much to explore: The three cataracts of Cataract Creek (downstream to the North in walking distance), Mount Burke (2540m) for a day hike starting right from the campground, the unique Plateau Mountain (~2500m) in easy mountainbiking distance, and various other peaks of similar height...

The campground manager is very helpful and friendly. He took my food into his shed for the night (I hadn't a car to store it in since I biked there) and he even gave me a replacement battery for a clock that had run out of power.
