Stayed here overnight in a 1 Queen room. Clean and comfortable hotel room, nicely kept property with very pleasant and attentive staff, and plenty of parking. I found their restaurant very convenient, as it was open until later in the evening (until 10 pm) and on a holiday. Nice menu, and the food came out tasty. The breakfast in the morning was a bit of a let down (we were unlucky that it was served cold), but it was still very convenient to have some options available early in the morning before heading out on the road again. The staff at the restaurant were excellent. All in all, a very good option in High Level.

We stay here at least once or twice a year on business. High level is a small northern town with limited quality places for overnight stays, this motel is the exception. The rooms are more than adequate, plenty of amenities, typical of a good hotel. It’s clean, and secure, with great heat and air conditioning when needed. The hotel itself is well maintained with repairs being done when needed, and the lot is plowed and maintained in the winter months, with plug ins for vehicles if needed. The staff is friendly and helpful. Both the restaurant and lounge are well appointed with nice furnishings and a warm atmosphere for dining. Menu items are plentiful and of good variety and available in both the restaurant and lounge. Great presentation and really tasty options. Moderately priced.
There is also an indoor pool, water park and hot tub available if you so desire. We use the hot tub, and after a cold day it’s sure a welcome to chilly feet and hands. We will continue to use the High Level Best Western Plus as long as we travel this way.

On our recent tour of northern Alberta we were staying at Best Western Plus Hotels because of the quality of the facility and standard of service that we have enjoyed in the past. Such was not the case at the High Level Best Western Plus. We found the exterior and interior to be in a state of disrepair and poor maintenance. The eavestroughing and down spouts in places were detached from the building, flashing was missing, paint was fading and the property was not nicely maintained. Along the hallways and in our room was an oder of cigarette smoke, the carpet was dirty, the lighting in our room was dim and a light bulb was burnt out, the ceiling fire alarm was missing and the wires were hanging down, and we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. It was obvious in other hotels that we stayed that particular attention was given to thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the rooms because of COVID. Not in our room! In a matter of fact, when we pulled out the hide-abed we discovered that the sheets had not been changed and there was blood stains. That was all we could take! We typically have stayed at Best Western Plus hotels because the quality of the facility and standard of service are consistent and to our liking. I am totally baffled as how this hotel operates as a Best Western Plus.

Dear Guest, On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. The past summer has been a challenging one for our industry and particularly the hotels in High Level. We dealt with an emergency evacuation of a neighboring Indigenous reserve which left over 300 people displaced from their home. In addition to the abrupt reopening of services for which many properties throughout the province had difficulty managing. During one of the worst labour crunches in decades, especially within the hospitality industry, and the influx of evacuees in our community, we are certainly behind in a number of departments, but we are working hard to catch up. None of this is your fault or your concern, I'm just expressing some of the challenges we've faced in recent months. However, the property has has been substantially renovated within the last 2 years. New carpets throughout, new mattresses, new bedding, new curtains, new granite counter tops, new RFID locks, upgraded WiFi and new fitness equipment, to name a few. Every guest room TV has been upgraded to a 50" or more just a matter of a few months ago. As much as I appreciate your feedback, I don't agree with the extreme nature of your claims and accusations. We would love to have you stay with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. This hotel charged more than 200/night for our room which had two beds. Musty carpets and a tired interior which is worth more like 125 tops. This is High Level's nicest hotel but it's old and needing a facelift.
Friendly staff though, which was nice.
Hotel gouged me for a $5/night sustainability fee after we checked out though, which sucks since the breakfasts are all disposable and they use lots of styrofoam with takeout orders. Mgmt will probably chime in and say how it's for covering sending the laundry to some place in Grimshaw for cleaning....whatever. Beginning to think my best bet in High Level is to just sleep in my car. ;(

I would first and foremost like to say that despite the fact that the Best Western is High Level's newest hotel, built a mere 10 years ago, we have just undergone a number of renovation this past year which have included the following; brand new carpeting in all of our rooms and common areas, brand new bedding, brand new mattresses, brand new curtains and sheers, upgraded wifi, and renovations to our gym. We are constantly making upgrades in accordance with brand standards. Your contribution towards our sustainability levy is greatly appreciated and helps us with a number of "green" incentives, such as towel recycling, use of energy saving initiatives, and other matters of efficiencies which reduce consumption of waste and energy. We are an active "Green Key" member, a leading international eco-label awarded to accommodations and other hospitality facilities that commit to sustainable business practices. Unfortunately, due to the recent circumstances around the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been forced to use disposable packaging to offer our guests breakfast and takeout. Under normal circumstances we offer a beautiful breakfast buffet but that is not permitted during this time. We hope that things resume to normal in the very near future so we can deliver the experience guests have come to know and love at the Best Western Mirage. I expressley rang and asked for a ground floor room as my husband is disabled. We were given a second floor room, which we could not access, so they gave
they gave us a smaller room on the ground floor , I had to sleep sitting up on the couch. And it still cost over $200.
When trying to confirm a downstairs room upon our return, I was told they could not guarantee it, and this is the email I just received.
"we cannot guarantee a specific room, on a specific floor or a specific side of the hotel, I did say the booking is of course guaranteed by your credit card but your requests are not.
This is just how it is in the hotel industry"

Not only do Tareq and his staff provide a great place for guest of High Level to stay, they are a great asset to the town of High Level in general. I was unable to deliver, due to road closures, a whole bunch of live lobsters that needed to be refrigerated. Tareq and his staff were willing to store the lobsters in their cooler without hesitation, until the road to Rainbow Lake opened again. It's those kinds of businesses that build community.

The staff at the Best Western Mirage Hotel make your stay feel like you're visiting friends and family and like you are there for rest and relaxation. They take such great care of their guests and make everyone feel like they are someone special. Though I am always in the area for work, my time at the hotel is like a holiday. The care and treatment at the Mirage is above and beyond and I enjoy my time there immensely. The food in the restaurant was also amazing. We had to take a lunch with us as we travelled away each day and we loved the lunch that was sitting there ready for us to take in the morning so much that we ordered it again the next day! This is truly an outstanding hotel.

We were a travelling hockey team and not the only one in the hotel. We let our boys loose in the pool so they would bit be crazy in the hotel and were constantly told they were being to loud in the pool.
The fire alarm was pulled late in the evening and then tested numerous times after that. They refused to give any kind of compensation. The power was out in the hotel the next morning (totally not in there control) but made packing up extremely difficult. As a team we had the same rooms and a flat rate… some parents were charged different amounts for these rooms and they would not correct them and said it was accurate. Not just $20 different.. like $80 difference for the SAME rooms! There was a quiet down time at 10 we did well to keep our kids in our rooms after this point but the hotel was still very loud and not very well insulated for noise reduction. You could clearly hear the rooms right above you.
