Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stopped in for three nights to ski at Castle Mountain, an easy (and FLAT) 20 minute drive away.
PRO: The location was quiet, the rustic cabin (one of two) was warm, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the water was hot, parking was easy and close, the cat was delightful and the breakfasts, well, they were great. We didn't use the small kitchenette or the TV, which only shows DVDs; since they have no cable access here.
The local general store is about three moments' walk down the street, and it offers gifts, minimal convenience items and an excellent (if limited) sandwich shop. That's the only place locally to eat lunch or dinner, but Oldman Brew Pub in nearby Lundbreck was a good option, and we we also enjoyed the Rum Runner in Crow's Nest Pass for dinner... with a short drive for each.
Our hosts were very helpful and responsive in every way. It was a pleasure to stay there.
CON: Not much to complain about, but a suggestion might be in order. Our cabin was large (two rooms), yet space was limited once the bags began to be emptied. A dresser would have been nice but there wasn't room for one. That space might be freed up if some smaller (apartment-style) furnishings replaced the traditional-sized easy chair and end tables.
Castle Mountain was an undiscovered gem for intermediate skiers, and Stepping Stone B&B was in a sweet spot in terms of location between two nearby towns and the ski area. We would love to return; they say that this is a paradise for hikers and fishermen in warmer months.

We loved it! We stayed there during a ski-trip out to Castle Mountain, and will definitely return.
The location was easy enough to find, no trouble there. It's not really all that close to anything interesting, we took a drive back into town to go for dinner... but if you don't mind driving a few minutes it's in a pretty good spot between the town and the ski-hill. I'm sure there's some great summer activities to be had around there as well, it's certainly beautiful country.
The cabins themselves: There are 2 guest cabins that are side by side, and then a few dozen yards away is the main house (where the host family lives). There is a big hottub on the deck between the guest cabins with a gorgeous view... The rooms themselves make you feel right at home. Very clean, nice stuff, comfy bed, we felt right at home. Very quiet at night, we slept wonderfully.
Our hosts made us a delicious breakfast (included in the room price) and quite honestly I'd be happy to have breakfast with them on a regular basis. The food was delicious, and what truly nice people.
If you're going to stay around this area for any reason, I would DEFINITELY recommend this B&B over a hotel any time.
A fantastic experience, we will be back! :)

We found this place by chance and we were so happy there. The cabins are clean and cozy. There is a hot tub outside were we enjoyed drinks at night.
Kevin and Jolaine are wonderful hosts, and made us feel like home. Breakfast and coffe were excellent.

We were here for two days and enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin was very comfortable and clean, it was quiet, the area was beautiful and very interesting, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and the family who owns it is friendly and welcoming! It is an ideal place for two related couples or friends because the two cabins are connected by a deck with a large hot tub and a barbecue in between. We also recommend eating at Stella's down the road. Great place and all homemade food. We would definitely stay here again!

The only sign that you have arrived at Stepping Stone is literally the sign. The actual cabins are not visible behind the quieting curtain of greenery (see photo). In fact, we had to look to find the path to our accommodation. The invisibility of the cabins caused us first to inquire at the neighbour's home (they use the same driveway). The rather rude neighbour implied that we were idiots for not noticing which direction "the bear on the sign is pointing"... which is very funny when you think about it... more-so when considering how small the "bear" is.
But the interaction with an unfriendly neighbour was the only downside to our stay at Stepping Stone. These cabins are very rustic in their outer appearance, but inside they are finished floor-to-ceiling in beautiful cedar, and everything is neat as could be. There is a small fridge, a microwave oven, a coffee pot (with coffee), a kitchen sink and dishes. The bathroom is very large with tub and shower. The bed is comfortable, and a small adjoining room has a foldout bed and television.
There is virtually no sound during the night, unless you count the occasional coyote's howl.
Breakfast was a hot meal with fresh-baked fruit scones, a frittata, potatoes and fruit. It was more than adequate. Just as breakfast was being served we were treated to the visit of a black bear (see photo) which ambled into the yard and posed outside the window for several minutes, not two meters from our window.
I highly recommend Stepping Stone Cabins, especially if you crave a few nights of absolute quiet.

Hi Nathan, Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review. We are slowly becoming more adept with websites such as this! The black bear's visit was exciting at breakfast! I ended up seeing a total of 28 bears this summer in SW Alberta/Glacier NP in Montana (4 being grizzly)... some while hiking, some from our home windows, and of course some from the car. We appreciate you mentioning the quiet night sleep. It is a true pleasure to only hear the sounds of nature while sleeping at night. I'm sorry you caught our neighbors on an "off day." They are actually quite lovely folks. All the best!

Lovely, friendly couple run this accomodation. We did not opt for the breakfast option offered. There were adequate facilities in the room to make hot drinks, toast etc and a fridge/microwave provided.
Situated in a rural quiet location in the woods. About 15 minutes from Pincher Creek and 45 minutes to an hour to drive to Waterton Lakes National Park.
Overall it is a very comfortable base in which to explore the local area and wildlife. Good value for money.

This place may be perfect for you if you enjoy getting away from it all. There are two cabin type rooms which share a common outdoor area with a hot tub. We had the larger of the two which had a queen bed, a small sitting area, a tiny kitchen with coffee and tea, a TV room with couch, and a bathroom. It was woodsy and shady with trees crowding around the building. Next door was the house where we went for breakfast.
The owner of the place is a young man whose wife and daughters happened to be away when we stayed there. The thought that maybe the food would not be up to scratch did cross my mind, but I shouldn't have worried. He made a quinoa quiche with scones the first morning and fluffy blueberry pancakes with sausages the second. Coffee and juice? Of course, and the coffee was served in a gleaming stainless steel coffee pot almost worthy of Buck House. The breakfast room is in a sunny porch type part of the house with large windows looking out onto the property.
As a little bonus, they make their own soap which is in the cabins. It is a friendly and happy home which my wife and I quite enjoyed. We think you would like this place, too. It may not be quite as dust free as some would like as the interior makes extensive use of wood and there were some cobwebs here and there. However, all things considered, it is a good place to stay .

We stayed here for one night in June. The cabin was very comfortable and warm and have everything we could have wanted - TV with videos, cooking facilities, very warm shower. Breakfast was great as well. We had as many pancakes as we could eat!! The area is really quite and we had birds all around. It is about 30-40mins from Waterton Lakes so perfect stop after hiking all day. We stayed in the Castle which is the bigger cabin. Note that the two cabins are seperated by a common area (with BBQ and spa) so if you are after privacy this is not it. Definitely recommend.
