This was an wonderful place - peaceful- beautiful - private- safe - and friendly. The staff were interactive and very professional, balanced with friendly and helpful. The accommodations are top notch - Comfortable beds, welcoming decor, ample space (we stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin) well equipped kitchen ready for a chef and hungry folk (the small touches meant alot), and a fantastic porch to watch the night sky go by. It is as it is shown - clean, neat, tidy - an unexpected find. Some helpful hints - The dinner in the dinning room is excellent - expect a slow pace with a delicious result - The breakfast is Chef's choice - and very tasty - Remember to bring all you need if you are using the kitchen - There are coffee pods - (we brought our AreoPress), and tea but for the rest you need to bring what you need - Ice is recommended to bring - (This place certainly called for a lovely slow beverage!) The tub takes forever to fill - but the hot water tank seems to provide! The fire place is so lovely. Take your time to wander the grounds - we had rain- but they looked lovely- and if it wasn't raining we would have used the fire pit! Enjoy!

This is our second winter visit to Prairie Creek Inn, and we had another amazing weekend. We stayed in the Owl’s Nest cabin this time as we prefer to have a table to sit at to play games and cards; the Birchside cottage has an island with no cut out for legs so is awkward to sit at for any length of time. Other than that, these two cabins are similarly appointed (no oven in Owl’s Nest but has counter top burners.) The views are gorgeous outside every window, including the tub! So much privacy because of how the cabins are situated in the trees. The floors are heated, and be aware that these cabins get super cozy fast….the heat was cranked when we arrived, which I’m sure is intended to provide a welcoming atmosphere (along with the jazz music!) but we had to open windows to cool it off. We kept the thermostat turned low and used the fireplace to warm it up, it doesn’t take much as it’s a small space. We made good use of the fire pit outside, and had plenty of wood that was nice and dry and burned beautifully; axes are at each cabin. The bed and linens were very comfy. Lots of satellite stations on TV, and a Blu ray player.
We had dinner at the Hearthstone and loved it, the chef is amazing and the service was friendly and efficient despite there being a very large dinner party in a side room. We had our breakfast delivered twice and enjoyed both, although the frittata had chorizo sausage which was a little spicy for us. Ah well, that’s what water is for! The puffy apple omelet/ French toast casserole was amazing! There is no cream for coffee, just whitener, so bring some from home if that’s important to you. There are Keurigs in the room and Tim Hortons pods are supplied.
This is such a romantic winter weekend getaway-the cabins appears a little pricy, but you have to look at what you’re getting. You’re not in a condo; you have your own fire pit, tons of privacy, and amazing views wherever you sit (including on the loo haha!). If you are lucky enough to wake to freshly fallen snow like we did, you’ll really get your money’s worth!

We very reluctantly left this beautiful place yesterday after3 days of pure pleasure! We had both Creekside and Fireside cabins, plus all the stable rooms. They were just delightful and immaculate, with lovely and tasteful decor well suited to the surrounding landscape. Perfect accommodation in a perfect locale and very private.
The grounds are spectacular with seating areas dotted here and there throughout. Especially down by the creek, with a lovely log swing to tempt one into a moment or two of solitude... Our fire pit, which we surely made good use of every night, was very generous with dry chopped wood, and obviously well designed with safety in mind.
As most of our gang generally consider themselves "almost chefs" we handled all our own meals, with the aid of three extremely well equipped kitchens, barbecues all over and they just did an outstanding job! And of course as always, there was too much food so we all went home with care parcels.
The staff were most accommodating as there was a small issue with one of the thermostats which was low on battery and which was immediately dealt with.
It was a truly wonderful place to relax, unwind and just be. Even the younger ones had disconnected. As a News Junkie, I didn't consider even once turning on the T.V., and my phone stayed in my suitcase as I listened to the gentle wind in the trees.

We last visited here 9 years ago. It’s a beautiful spot, very quiet and lots of space but it has been sold since and definitely needs some updates. There are about 5 firepits outside throughout the property for guests to use, with wood plentifully provided. The problem is there is no matches or fire starters provided at the fire pits at all. The lobby puts out a few and when they’re gone, there’s nothing. Waterproof Containers with items need to be provided at the pits. The rooms are themed and decorated accordingly although all furniture is original and really showing wear and age. There is no daily room service provided unless on request. Mattresses are extra high and soft, very difficult to get in and out of. Extra long soaker tub in bathroom but no salts or bubble bath provided. Restaurant is closed for the first half of each week and the drive to restaurants in Rocky Mountain House is 15 minutes each way. Breakfast can be ordered in advance but a light continental breakfast in lobby would be lovely. Not worth the prices until it gets a bit more TLC and upgrades.

My husband and I spent last weekend there (July 10/11) for our anniversary. We had been told that it had a GREAT restaurant, breakfast in bed and lovely rooms. So my husband went ahead and booked it. When we arrived , they said we hadn’t said whether or not we wanted the breakfast ( which I assumed was complementary as there was no menu to tell you what they had.) so we said sure that would be nice. The room amenities were nice, although not what we expected for the money. So we unpacked and thought we would stroll over to check out the restaurant. We were informed by the desk person that the restaurant is closed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Great! We are there for Sunday, Monday! When booking my husband said we had heard the food there was great. Telling us it would be closed on the days we were looking at would have been helpful! So we had to drive 20 km to the closest town to eat. Breakfast arrived and it was not great…pancakes with chocolate chips in it??? The second day it was eggs Benedict which my husband ate half of and I ate none as I’ve never liked them. Hated them actually! So when we check out on Tuesday we were informed the breakfasts were $60 extra. Not impressed considering we had no choice in them . The room was nice enough but the rest was VERY disappointing. By the way, the room was down in the basement (walkout)…in a corner …very dark. There ARE rooms with balconies which would have been much nicer. There were no other cars there, so I assume we were the only customers. Really? We would have paid for a better room had we known if the prices differ from one to another. They were TOLD is was an anniversary celebration for us so maybe an upstairs room would have been a bit nicer when they were obviously empty. Soooooo……ask questions before you book. We spent well over $500 and were NOT impressed with what we got for it.

Response from , Owner at The Prairie Creek Inn
Responded Aug 19, 2022
Thank you for your comments, Shirley. I am sorry you assumed breakfast is complimentary because when I spoke to the gentleman who made the reservation, I specifically told him breakfast is $15.00 per person per day and it is Chef's Choice. Additionally, he asked about other suites and after explaining the different features, he is the one who picked the suite located on the lower walkout level of the Main Lodge because he preferred the double soaker tub and separate glass shower. I also told him the restaurant is not open for dinner from Sunday to Tuesday and told him there are several choices in Rocky Mountain House. I am sorry Eggs Benedict and Pancakes with Chocolate Chips are not your personal favourites but they are 2 of our most popular breakfast items. Also, let me assure you that an empty parking lot does not mean we have an empty Inn, as you suggested. Our records also show that an email confirmation was sent to the address provided by the gentleman at the time of booking with me. This email confirmation has the information regarding restaurant hours. Let me assure you that questions were asked at the time of booking and answers were provided at the same time. Again, we thank you for your comments.

This is closer to 5 stars to be honest. The only bad thing I could think of is the small drive up to get to our room/cabin. It is not the fault of the staff, per se, but it does detract from the experience. We just had a hard time driving up because of the snow. I'm not sure if there is a way to resolve this problem in the future.
That little thing aside, I loved our room and the Spruce Treehouse Suite is just amazing, with a secluded feel. I could just stay in this beautiful room all day watching the snowfall and drape over an expanse of trees. It was such an experience just having that view. The soaker tub was great and this one also had a view if you time your bath before it's completely dark. We had a fire pit right outside our room... I just thought everything was lovely.
We enjoyed the food. If we could suggest something, it would be a bit of variety. We were served a sort of pastry bread with fresh blueberry jam on Sunday, which I think a lot of people would enjoy, but unfortunately not to my husband's taste. If we were given a choice or the option to skip this breakfast, that would have been preferable.
The food in the restaurant was good. The steak was perfectly cooked and the glaze was delicious. There was a mix up with our reservation, but the staff did their best to accomodate. The ideal scenario is to have reservations digital with a confirmation instead of a phone conversation, that is just written down on a logbook, so the conversation doesn't sound like a he said, she said scenario... just a thought.
There are complementary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap and small tube of lotion). Surprisingly no bath salts or bath gels (which is fine). These info is just for future guests who are curious and/or would like to be prepared to pack their own things.
The staff are very engaged and kind. Thank you so much!
I would definitely want to come back.

My husband and I booked two nights at Prairie Creek Inn and stayed in the Birchline Cabin. We had communicated in advance the meals we wanted delivered and staff brought hot food at the allocated time to our cabin. (The on-site restaurant was closed due to provincial restrictions.) The cabin itself was spotless and had everything you would need to prepare meals, if you chose to. The bed was comfortable and cozy. The setting was very private with other cabins being more than 100 m away. We brought our own snowshoes and snowshoed up and down Prairie Creek. The Inn has some for guests to borrow as well. The cabins do not have wifi and cell phone data was weak, however, wifi was available at the main lodge. It was an opportunity to unplug from the world for a while. We would highly recommend it.

This is a lovely getaway in a peaceful rural area, with a nearby creek, wide green lawn, and charming rooms. There is a restaurant on the property with excellent food and service. I went with my mom for a relaxing weekend away from the city. The service is excellent and professional. The wifi service didn't work, however, and I couldn't get cell data. I will definitely go back. Of note is that there is larger cabins where families can stay. We were on a main floor suite with a walk out patio.

This was our 5th visit to this charming inn and once again we had an amazing and tranquil long weekend. My partner proposed while we were there which made it extra special! The accommodation was homey and comfortable as always and just what we needed to unwind.
The only thing that prevented me giving it 5:5 was the food. I mentioned I was vegetarian when we booked but although they accommodated this in our breakfasts and meal, it was disappointing that their solution was just to remove the meat from the dish (while charging the same) and not substitute any other ingredients -mushrooms or a plant based alternative for example. Their dinner menu also offered no specific veggie option under main courses. Not even one which is pretty customary in most restaurants these days. While I would understand more if I had turned up last minute and not given them notice to prepare, we booked this trip and stayed my dietary requirements two months prior. That being said it didn’t ruin our trip. We will be back again for sure but I hope they consider this feedback for future guests with similar dietary restrictions.

Spent the weekend and this was a nice quiet relaxing trip. This is a small place so you won’t run into too many people. The staff are great. The rooms are clean, well decorated and cozy. Bed is comfy. Having the patio is great.
They have taken a nice approach in that they don’t clean your room everyday so it kind of becomes your room for your stay.
Grounds are nice but not a lot of walking trails.
Restaurant is great.
Cell coverage is spotty and wifi isn’t strong - so if you like us were looking to disconnect for the weekend and enjoy some nature it is lovely.
