You will never meet another couple like Bear and Diane who are so humble and kind that are genuine with sincerity in all they do for their horses, chickens, dogs and cats and all wild critters that cross their ranch. That in itself gives you such an uplifting experience at any one of their camps. Camps designed to meet all needs and requirements that touch you mentally, soulfully and physically. I have had the utmost pleasure over the years taking my granddaughter to these camps and went back for day visits to say how much they have touched our lives and continually uplifted us with each visited. Their cabins at the Fort Phantom are beautiful and the peace and tranquillity are only broken with the laughter around evening campfires. I have also attended Diane’s craft course making willow benches and chairs with a friend. So fun and rewarding. The horse herd is so wonderful. Each with their personality that give the love they have received by these great caretakers. You would never know some of these horses were rescue horses that never knew this kind of Life. Please take this wonderful experience and walk away with such an open heart that touches your soul. I know I did - and the gift they gave my granddaughter of believing and enjoying - an experience we both never forget. So highly recommend- there are so many experiences that are personal that this could be a book. Hugs always to Bear and Diane 😍🤗

The weekend was above and beyond right from the start. The cabin we stayed in was spotless. We got to use the wood stove at night which heated up the cabin and was a nice experience. Outhouses were clean and tidy as well. All the meals were delicious and enough food for everyone. Absolutely zero complaints from the kids! We always left happy and full. The horse experience you get is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. You get to be in the field of apx. 50 horses and can just be there with them. It is soothing and calming. You didn’t just hop on a horse for a trail ride. You had to do the whole experience from start to finish. Go to the field, find a horse suitable for your ability and take him to get saddled. You saddled your own horse to ride. After the ride you had to take off the saddle and take the horse back to the field. My son was nervous at the beginning of the trip, and by the end he didn’t want to leave the horses. We also got to go on a wagon ride to see the property and the lake. There was free time to enjoy a nice walk or take a break. Bear and Diane are kind people. They want you to enjoy the experience of the wilderness and the horses. We got that and more! Can’t wait to go back to reset and recharge!

I stayed at Wildhorse Mountain Ranch for 2 months and it was the most wonderful time. I was blessed with the opportunity to learn from both Diane and Bear about horsemanship, gardening and Canadian ranch life. Being in such a beautiful place, surrounded by such special people and animals really has a lasting and profound effect on one's self. I could not thank them enough for this unique experience. Come to Wildhorse with an open heart and mind, something very special awaits you there.

I’m taking time to write a review for this amazing ranch because it has been a tremendous blessing in the life of my family. The ranch provides structure and support but more importantly it allows for freedom and adventure! Wholesome food, winsome horses and wonderful folk; what more could you ask for. Check it out; you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks Jen for your positive review. We do believe that people arrive as guests but leave as family. I have really enjoyed spending time with and teaching your daughter about the "power and wisdom of horses"! Horses are amazing beings who make the world a better place and they help us discover who we are... Happy Trails and I know we will see you again.

We are seasoned travelers and over the last 40 years have been privileged to have visited, bothfor business and pleasure, a large part of this amazing and constantly intriguing and astonishing planet we inhabit. China, India, Russia, Africa, the Far East and most of Europe have been our playground. This is something else! Wildhorse Mountain Ranch is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Unlike the ‘tourist’ experiences we have ‘enjoyed’ during our worldwide travels over those many years, this is entirely different. Bear & Diane Baker, the owners, are real people, living, working and surviving in one of the most challenging environments on earth. The extreme winters that can sometimes hit -55c combined with their obvious love for their herd of beautiful and gentle horses, has clearly assisted in moulding this wonderful couple into the nicest, most fun loving and caring people you will ever have the privilege to share some of your life with. This is a genuinely beautiful and life enhancing experience. If you do nothing else of any significance in your life to enhance and accentuate your future sense of well being and ‘Joie de vivre’, make sure you visit this haven of love, laughter, peace and tranquility. The bonus is, you also get to ride beautiful and willing horses through the ranch, amongst the herd and on into the wilderness, to experience the genuine wild beauty of Wildhorse Mountain Ranch. Unfortunately, like us, you will also only get the option of giving a maximum of 5 Stars on your review. Do it, before it’s too late!

Thanks Leslie, we really appreciate your kind words and heartfelt appreciation of what we provide our guests with. Horses are our passion and we love to share our herd with all who drive through our ranch gates. We pride ourselves in the quality of horses that guests interact with on the ground and in the saddle. We had a great experience with Leslie and its very rewarding to get this kind of feedback from a guest! Safe journeys Leslie where ever you travel to next.

My daughter attended summer camp at Wildhorse Mountain Ranch three years in a row and loved it. Diane and Bear create a safe and welcoming environment to experience horses. They are the kind of people who I hope my daughter choses to emulate as role models. Please be aware that this is a rustic camp experience and what you are paying for is not amenities but the experience.

Hello KC, thanks for your review of our "experiential horse camp". We have rustic cabins, clean and warm and they are a great place to sleep at night. Our focus of course is leadership through heart to heart horsemanship and giving the girls lots of time to learn new skills and then practice them! Its the hours spent with the horses that make a skilled horse person and we enjoy the journey with the girls. The other best part of camp is all the life long friendships that are made and the fun that the girls have while they are here. We appreciate your support. Happy Trails Diane

Diane & Bear were awesome, they shared their land and horses with us to ensure we had the experience of a lifetime! We stayed in their rustic cabins which had bunk beds with mattresses and kerosene heaters. They even had extra blankets if you needed one. We brought our own sleeping bags and pillows but you can rent sleeping bags if you need to. I have never experienced anything quite like this; free roaming horses that live off the land on hundreds of beautiful acres. No arena, stables or english saddles or riding here! Many trails to ride on and the rides are organized and very well supervised. They ensure you are safe and learn how to connect with your horse prior to taking you out on a trail ride so this is an excellent place for anyone that has never been near a horse and wants to experience horseback riding in a very well supervised setting with horses that have been and continue to be handled by humans! Ranch hands from other countries help out in exchange for room & board and experience and are there because they enjoy it making your experience wonderful! Awesome food! Don't come here thinking you will be hungry 'cause you definitely won't be! Bear can really BBQ! I would suggest you bring bottled water as the well water does have some sulphur in it; mixed with their iced tea you don't taste it but if you prefer to drink water do bring your own. Outhouses are there but no showers, electricity or running water in the cabins; do bring a flashlight for getting to the outhouse at night! This is a suitable experience for all ages and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a truly rustic and unforgettable experience with me memories to last a lifetime! Bear & Diane I can't thank you enough; please give Ranger a big hug for me!

Hey Theresa, thanks for your kind review, we appreciated you joining us for this women's retreat. I saw some big Ah-Ha moments that that is very rewarding. We have upgraded the heating to wood stoves or propane heat which is easier to use and there are rustic showers out in the Fort :) Always improving and loving life outside. Thanks for coming and sharing our home and the Wildhorse Herd!
