Once a church, our log lodge is perched on a knoll on the south shore overlooking the Johnstone Strait. The beach is just steps away. Constructed entirely of cedar, the Great Room (the former worship room) of this magnificent building features vaulted 14” cedar ceilings, four conversation nooks and a dining room with ocean and mountain views. Indigenous art hangs on our walls, and books of many variations grace our library. Outside is a wrap around sundeck. The lodge is the perfect place to take in the ocean, inhale the cedar aroma and loose yourself in the serene vibe of this place. We offer wildlife trip bookings, a choice of four included hot breakfasts, and a dinner service. Wifi and parking are included.

The hosts and the place were completely welcoming, cozy and charming. Pablo and Paula made sure they attended to all the details to make sure my stay was top notch. They went out of their way to provide information that I needed for my business stay. The room was spotless and well appointed. The menu choices which was delicious and ample. I will definitely be coming back to stay with them at Alert Bay Lodge. Thank you Paula and Pablo.

Love our two night stay at the Alert Bay Lodge, we stayed in room number 4 it had a patio attached to the room. The log cabin feel is great, staying in this converted church. The host Paula and Pablo, were very helpful and catered to all of our needs Breakfast was included and we booked one night dinner with them as well. One in our party is Gluten free and also Vegetarian but they catered to all our dietary restriction. They also store some salmon in their freezer for use that we got during our travels We would definitely stay here again with the Lodge and Paula and Pablo there.

This is a charming lodge with a lovely view from the great room across the Johnstone Straight to Vancouver Island. Our room was spotless, with its own bathroom and fridge. Scott and Nina were charming hosts, and very helpful with travel, tour and eating tips. The breakfasts were wonderful and made to order. We enjoyed sitting on the wraparound deck outside and in the great room with the fire going for coffee and drinks. The lodge is close to main town. We were able to keep busy for almost a week seeing Cormorant Island and the surrounding area. We were there in September, which is just when things were starting to quiet down. The people on the island are friendly, and there are a number of amenities. We brought a stash of food for lunches and snacking at Nina's recommendation. We recommend the lodge for a nice getaway in a very interesting corner of the west coast!

Rustic, charming, and wonderful. Great location, easy walk to main hub. Generous and delicious breakfasts. All the rooms are nice but we had #2, the only one with a nice soaker bath tub, which I love. Nina is a wonderful host who will keep you informed on what is going on in Alert Bay.

Highly recommend the lodge as a place to stay during your visit to Alert Bay. Clean cozy room, choice of breakfast in the morning (as someone who is gluten free I really appreciated the oatmeal with fruit and nuts) and a thoughtful friendly host. The main room is a nice space to relax and read or visit. They also did a great job keeping everything Covid friendly. Great view of the ocean with the beach across the street, and walking distance from downtown.
