Nimpkish was a perfect home for our two days on Cormorant Island. We could have stayed another day very happily and probably should have arranged a whale watching tour with Seasmoke Tours. The hospitality was outstanding, the bed super comfortable and kitchenette facilities thoughtfully stocked. The stunning view from the deck was a delight as was beautiful flower garden outside our room (#8) The kitchen and hearty continental breakfast were much appreciated given restaurants were generally not open while we were there. U’Mista Cultural Centre definitely worth a visit and lots of good trials.

Mr. and Mrs. Brent Hauser gave my wife and I the most wonderful experience, by their gracious and kind hospitality. Our room was immaculate and the view magnificent. Brent arranged the use of a gas BBQ, the use of cozy cushions to lounge on the outdoor deck, where we could view the setting sun, in the comfort of an outdoor heater. Brent helped me arrange for adventure excursions with skilled people who shared with us their love of nature. The hotel was our gateway to viewing grizzly bears, sea lions, and humpback whales. The breakfast items were fresh and chosen with care, satisfying us with delight. This hotel is a perfect for couples, families, and for groups such as small churches or businesses. This place reflects the love and care of Brent and his wife Jen. They even went out of their way to buy a cherished souvenir for my wife from the museum, as a favor to us. If this keeps up, I will need to book a year in advance to return, as this place should be your first choice to lodging in the area. Charles and Lily.

The Nimpkish Hotel and cultural/sightseeing
attractions of Alert Bay met every item on our wish list during our recent stay. The natural beauty of morning mist, sunsets, calm waters and occasionally whale sounds, interesting sea life and lapping waves created the perfect backdrop for our getaway. Our hosts,Jan and Brent, created an atmosphere that made us feel like lingering; the home-style breakfasts and little extras were so lovely. We are looking forward to our next visit!

This is a lovely small hotel right on the water in Alert Bay, with unbelievable views of the water, the sky and Vancouver Island across the water. Alert Bay has limited facilities once the summer season ends, but the Nimpkish’s restaurant operates 7 days a week and serves delicious food even in the off-season. Eating dinner on the huge sunny patio watching for whales was brilliant. The people are fantastic, the beautiful 100+ year old building (which was barged to its current location nearly 100 years ago) is lovely and spectacularly maintained. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed three days/nights at Nimpkish on Comorant Island. Our pet friendly room was located on the garden and a few steps from the expansive deck overlooking Alert Bay and the Strait. The room had a kitchenette with everything you needed. The included continental breakfast was excellent with a daily variety of homemade jams. With the exception of Leonard Point (a great place to chill), everything is within walking distance. The local grocery has a good selection of fresh foods and we grilled our dinner on the deck two nights. We saw Humpback Whales, Resident Orca, Sea Otters, Sea Lions and Seals. Bald Eagles landed right next to the deck. Jennie and Bill were perfect hosts and noticeably attended to details. If you are visiting the Islands off of Vancouver Island, do not miss this one.

After two separate stays in July 2022 at the Nimpkish Hotel, the best thing we can say is "we'll be back".

First of most importance is the Hospitality! 6* (out of 5) all the way! Friendly, courteous, helpful, always there if needed - cannot say enough about the Owner / Management team.

Rooms were comfortable and during our second stay during a heat wave, a fan was provided for even further comfort. Complimentary breakfasts were delicious and well-received.

We would highly recommend the Nimpkish Hotel for a 1 night or 1 week (or longer!) stay. Now one of our favourite relaxation retreats!

The Nimpkish hotel was such a gorgeous spot to stay. You feel warm and welcomed the second you arrive, the staff take initiative and go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. The breakfast is just what you need to start the day and the sunset will take your breath away. Stunning spot!

We had the most remarkable experience at the Nimpkish Hotel in Alert Bay. The service was truly unparalleled – they treated us like family from the moment we arrived. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel incredibly valued. The genuine warmth and hospitality added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay.

The hotel’s ambiance was inviting and relaxing. The cozy rooms were a sanctuary of comfort. Being right on the seafront, the breathtaking views of the surrounding area added to the overall charm.

The dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The culinary creations served at the hotel were a true delight for the senses.

With its warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the rich cultural experiences that Alert Bay offers, the Nimpkish Hotel is an unforgettable destination that leaves guests yearning for more.

This establishment is more than just a hotel; it's an experience that leaves a lasting impression. I can't wait to return to the Nimpkish Hotel for another memorable stay.

We brought 13 students up to Alert Bay from the North Vancouver area for a 4 day cultural exchange. The Nimpkish Hotel staff accommodated 13 youth and 7 adults with such generosity and we all felt like we were at our home away from home. It’s an older hotel with lots of character and history, the students absolutely loved it. The rooms are clean, bright, comfortable, and the view is one of a kind as the Nimpkish is right on the water. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck when the weather was nice. The owners Janet and Brent were extremely helpful and kind during our stay and Pemba did an excellent job to accommodate us and even feed us an authentic delicious meal. The breakfast they provided was good as well. The students didn’t want to leave and they all want to go back! Overall we had an amazing time and truly enjoyed our stay at the Nimpkish.

Highly recommend this newly renovated and up to date small hotel right on the waterfront in Alert Bay. The continental breakfast was BEAUTIFUL and generous. Fresh flowers from the hotel garden on the small tables. The inn keepers were very kind and helpful. Our room was clean and the bed comfy. Lots of hot water and fluffy towels. Well equipped kitchenette. BC had mandated MASKS for all indoor spaces and every guest complied. I used the breakfast room for an afternoon read on the sofa looking out over the ocean. FANTASTIC stay. Oh - and of course U'Mista Cultural Centre is well worth the trip to this remote part of Northern Vancouver Island and Alert Bay.
