These are great clean, quiet accommodations. The staff are friendly and gave us helpful suggestions about the island. It is located on a hill providing a beautiful view of the ocean.
Two of us were travelling with a family of four, they had a double cabin we had a single cabin. For the minimal cost difference I would recommend a double cabin regardless if it's just two people. More space, better view of the ocean and a picnic table outside which we used daily. Although our single cabin had a window of a forest in the back. There are fully equipped kitchens which are needed as restaurants are limited on the island.

Thank you for explaining the better view to everyone. I totally agree it's a more enjoyable stay in the Double Bedroom Cabins. When you travel all this way why not enjoy the view! Hope to see you and your wonderful family again sometime. Chris

Very clean and comfortable cabins with an ocean view from the front and a meadow view with trees out the bedroom windows. It was so quiet and peaceful! We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen to make our meals and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch after dinner to have a tea. The U'Mista Cultural Centre is very interesting, and we hiked many of the trails on the island. I would highly recommend these cabins!

Fabulous cabins, fully equipped with everything you need. Great location for walking. Friendly staff. Very clean. Extra blankets to put over your lap as you sit out on the front porch watching the water and waiting for a chance to spot marine life. Covid restrictions were in operation.

Booked and paid for a 2 night stay in Nov 2019 , then Covid struck and travel was impossible even more so to FN areas. At first was told we could rebook, so that was good, Now being told that rebooking was only valid until May 2020. So we lost our money . Epic fail in times of covid, you do the right thing and people take advantage. Note to owners recreational travel was forbidden in May 2020
So the saga continues. Checked my Travelzoo account and the vouch is marked "redeemed". So someone has my money. When this began Travel Zoo told told us that only the owner could make the changes, there was nothing Travelzoo would do due to Covid. According to the TravelZoo site This voucher (“Voucher”) is issued by the hotel or merchant named above (“Merchant”), who is solely responsible for honoring this Voucher in accordance with its terms. We have an emaii from you pushing the date off till May , but the entire province was closed to recreational travel in May.

Forget it, booked pre covid and when the province closed down travel they kept our full payment. Guess they figure nothing they can do about well Epic fail. Total scam. Making sure everyone one I know hears about their business practises.
Lots of other accomidations in the area to give your business to.

The Alert Bay Cabins are well-kept, clean and updated with enough space for everyone to spread out and relax. Our family of four and dog had a wonderful stay. The property is large, the cabins are nicely spaced out and there is a nice ocean view. It was very peaceful and quiet.

These are charming cabins that are unbelievably equipped. There is a full kitchen. Usually key items are missing, but this kitchen was complete. Full sized fridge. Four burner stove & full oven. Cute porch with a table & chairs. Comfortable bed with lovely views out big windows. Reading lights on both sides. Lots of privacy. Parking right at door. Trails to the entire island leave from the property. There's free wifi. Great value. Excellent rates.

Room Tip: I prefer the cabins further down the hill, but those further up, probably get a good panoramic view.

It’s been a few years since I was part of this. In fact, the name of the place has changed. So maybe there is new ownership, maybe not. There is a usually large group of us in a variety of planes that spend at least two nights. Someone would bring the breakfast fixings and we would gather at that cabin.
Basically we would take over the whole resort and it is very quiet and comfortable. Since we came in by plane, any ventures into town would be on foot. The resort is at the top of a very steep hill, but there is a reasonable path into town that will cut out the very steep bits. Start out by walking north down the runway and you will see the path off to the left through the trees.
Make sure you visit the Um’mista museum. A vist to the totems on the main street is a must. Make sure you don’t walk into the cemetery. All is easily viewed from the sidewalk.
If you ask at the office, there could be arrangements made to get you over to Telegraph Cove by boat. Or you can take the ferry to Port McNeil and catch a cab. Porgie was really hospitable to our group when we were there a few years back.

Hello Flying Club, Thank you for your write up! I have only been the manager here for the last 3 years so haven't experienced all the planes at one time before. The way into town is all paved roads and we have a taxi service that will take you from point A to point B for about $7 now. U'Mista museum is still a must see and we can put you in touch with Captain Porgie for any boat trips you might want to go on. Thank you again for the wonderful review and hope to see you all again one year.
