The Backeddy Resort made us feel very welcomed. My friend and I got one of the waterfront cabins and after our stay, we wouldn't want anything else. Waking up to see the ocean right off your deck was nothing short of amazing. The room itself was simple yet elegant. You have a king sized bed with two night stands. The night stands have drawers in them but that's really all the clothing space you're going to get. I lived out of my suitcase so I didn't really care. There was a place to hang items but it was over the fridge where the Keurig machine was so if it was longer than a shirt, there wasn't much point in hanging anything. There was one hook on the wall. There was also some shelves under the sink but we didn't utilize them. We lived out of our bags. There are outlets in the cabin. The nightstand lamps came with USB plugs (which was great--they say to come unplugged but it's hard not to). You get access to their wifi for free. Things to note: - The water from the tap is drinkable - this was very helpful as we went through a lot of water due to hiking in the area. - They are on a septic system so please be responsible and follow the rules - There is a mini fridge, but that's exactly what it is... Mini. - We were greeted with drinks and snacks - The shower and toilet are in a room with a sliding door; the light switch is also the fan and that's located on the outside of the entrance to the room. Our shower had a handheld extension which was great after all the hikes we did and getting all areas clean. I did noticed that there were parts of the shower that needed some repair and love as water might be leaking in those areas. - There's a sink located on the outside of that room, in the main room. We were provided with toiletries but my friend and I both travel with enough toiletries combined to open our own store since our skin and hair have different needs. - Housekeeping (Hi Meri-Lynn!) will get you extra everything if you need it. Due to COVID at the time, they did not come in to clean (which was fine with my friend and I). Pro-tip: Please strip the bedding (the white sheets) and towels and put them all in the shower at the end of your trip. Helps the staff do the change over and cleaning in a faster and more efficient way. - The bed was a little dated and only had a rough feeling flat sheet over a smaller mattress protector. Oddly enough, the bed was super comfortable and I didn't have any trouble sleeping. Apparently at some point I became a thread count snob somewhere along in my life and wished the flat sheet had a higher one. LOL - There was a fireplace but it was too hot to use it. We had the use of fans. - There is a small table with a microwave where you can have a meal or use as your drop off table. - There was a hair dryer. I'm trying to picture everything in my mind. - Outside there are two plastic adirondack chairs (one which we completed forgot to mention was cracked at the back and you couldn't lean back--sorry about that, Backeddy). You also have two metal chairs and a glass top table. - the outside deck is HUGE. I spend a few nights out there cuddled up and laying down, which star gazing. My friend did her yoga in the morning. I did my own yoga in the early morning - I call it "planking in bed". Everything was clean and welcoming when we arrived. We had just hiked and so I promptly showered, put my towel out to dry on the chairs outside and flopped into bed. Plenty of naps were had. - Bring binoculars. This is something I didn't even think about but it would be cool to have as there were many seals who popped up and said hello throughout the day. - There is a pub on site. Please see their website for more information on times and when they're open. They follow strict COVID protocols as well. - The reception area was also a mini store that had some items for purchase. I guess that because it's a marina that they have laundry that you can pay for?... as they sold Tide Pods and other little tidbits. What made me so happy was they had a bit of a food section with coffee. I had the most amazing raspberry scone drizzled in white chocolate and it was fresh out of the oven. Dear heavens. I could have eaten a few more of those. My friend and I went out onto the dock to look at things and she kept talking about items in the water but I wouldn't shut up about the scone. There was no hope for me. I was a goner. Everyone was super friendly. It was quiet but there are also a few cabins around so it's not exactly a secluded area. In fact, most days you'd hear the motorcycles come up just to have lunch at the pub. My friend and I are looking to be back in the fall and winter and I'll be able to provide an updated review on the fall/winter conditions which will be interesting since most of the services (the pub and expeditions) close towards the end of October. The sites whole area felt welcoming. My friend and I cannot wait to go back.…
I planned a solo getaway to work on my 2nd book and was met with stunning views, a serene little getaway with a great sleep in a little vintage cabin. It was the best little getaway I could ask for as it had all the amenities I needed. Thank you to the staff for all their hard work. It was so appreciated and yes, kudos will be in the book... you will have to wait for the stories. :)
I stayed in one of the vintage cabins for one night having stayed in an AirBnB belonging to Peter the owner, which was so wonderful I asked him if he could find me somewhere to stay for one more night and he gave me an amazing deal at the Back Eddy. The staff are wonderful, the cabins quaint and quite unique with a lovely view over the inlet. The pub has great food and sometimes live music, and the whole place has a kind, fun, family atmosphere. I also got to go on an amazing night time Bioluminescence kayak tour with Greg and Mariel of Metta Ecoadventures - incredible! Next time I’ll be back to stay in one of the cool geodesic domes! Thanks so much Peter and Suz, and amazing staff members Beth, Daryl, Danny and Mel!
Love this place! Great rustic cabins but still nicely appointed. Friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful property. Loved the wood burning stove in the cabin. I have been here 3 times and I will certainly be back again!
We loved our 4 night visit to Egmont. Backeddy staff were so awesome (Kathleen) and the owner Peter was so friendly and inviting. It’s like staying at a family friends place. Next time we will definitely book the modern waterfront cabins. Yes.....there will be a next time. We stayed in the vintage A frame which was right on the ocean but not as bright as the waterfront cabins are. The bioluminescence kayak tour out of back eddy blew our minds. It was a must do along with the skookumchuck narrows. A natural phenomenon. Loved our time there.
