We've stayed in Grand Forks a number of times. We love the area, its history and geography. Last night we were late getting to town because of mechanical issues so we didn't book ahead and the other places we've stayed were full. We don't expect anything grand but simply clean and reasonably well-appointed. Motel 99 was neither of these. The stairs leading up to the third story were dirty and ruckled. (My husband has a minor disability so well-maintained stairs are important.) The first thing I saw when we entered our room was a large insect leap from the bed. Was it a cricket or some sort of sawyer beetle? I don't know because over the course of our single night we found both in our room and many more on the walls of the motel, the stairs. The room was shabby and not particularly clean. There were dark hairs in the threadbare sheets which of course made me suspect they hadn't been washed after the last occupant. Two upholstered chairs were filthy. The pillow cases were soiled. (We wrapped the pillows in towels.) The mattress was torn and too big for the box spring so it hung over the edges. The shower curtain was dirty. I know these are difficult times for many but I think the bare minimum for anyone offering accommodation is cleanliness and functional plumbing. If a room can't be properly cleaned or serviced, it shouldn't be rented. When I tried to have a shower first thing in the morning, the tap came away from the wall and wouldn't turn on.

Room was horribly dirty. Thank goodness I had sanitizing wipes in my car or we would not have been able to stay. It was obvious that pillow on bed had been used and carpet was so dirty we could not take off our shoes. No coffee, tea, kettle or supplies. Microwave only but nothing to heat anything in. No cups except plastic.
They should not be allowed to stay in business in our opinion.

Have stayed here once in a pinch and got gouged in price for a terrible room !! let's face it, anybody I have spoken with has nothing good to say about this property and its management.

Certainly overpriced for what they have to offer. They also appear to be in direct communication with the other dive in town.

It’s not a place to stay.
Dirty pillow cases and dirty top bed cover.
The reviews on b this place are confirmed by this visit.
It’s a last option and a bad one at that.
Sleep in the car or move on down the road.
Sleep in your clothes is a plan.
Of course try it yourself and then write your review.

69 bucks is too much to pay for this one. Arrived to find dirty toilet seat, faulty plumbing, bath towels that are so thin you can barely dry off. Not to mention spiders and an overall feeling that the room is unclean to COVID 19 measures. One night is way to long to stay here.

Used Booking.com to book
Arrived on said day, place looked deserted, 'lobby' door locked, rang bell at 'residence' door adjacent, no answer, no answer when calling, cars in parking lot, pounded on both door, nothing, no one about. Is this even a hotel anymore? We were fortunate to find an alternative (Western Traveller)

Like most of the reviews said before me, tired, hungry and need rest. Honestly, you are best to go behind the motel and find a quiet road to park and sleep in your car, YES, its that bad. Where to start, toilet was brown inside, the cheapest possible toiletries, dark, air conditioning rattled so loud that your brain started to rattle in sync, tv did not have a full picture, shower curtain and carpet was stained, towels were abrasive, sheets so thin that my husbands pubes were poking through, no coffee machine, no restaurants nearby, I think you get the picture. Save your $135 and go somewhere else. The people who run this place needs to find another job - this place has no care, maintenance, minimal tending to rooms and service.

We called ahead to book 2 rooms for a Hockey Tournament (8/9 year olds) and had reserved 2 rooms prior to the Hotel owner knowing of the tournament. When checking in, the original quoted room rate had been increased. The Owner stated " you will pay what everyone else is paying." The owner not honoring the original quote may have been tolerable had it not been for the state of the room. The room appeared to have been furnished from a Salvation Army/Thrift store. We had a 2 room suite that looked to be originally 2 rooms with a hole cut in the wall and 2X6 boards covering the gap. There were 2 TV's in the room; one was a 15 inch TV and the other appeared to be less than a 12" both were 70's vintage. We were promised a refrigerator (but there was none). The bedding appeared to be econo-Sally ann or the cheapest thrift store variety. The Hotel is only a couple of years old but there wwere signs of flooding and poor drywall repairs.
I would highly recommend no-one stay at this Motel and pick any other accomodation option in this town.

Empty beer cans in the cupboards, knives burnt from smoking hash, dirty as a pigpen. This place is a flop house for people on social assistance. Never again. Sleep in my car first. The air conditioner was pulled apart and the door was at one time kicked open. The tub surround on one side(a 3 piece) was installed upside down. ( The soap slipped off.) This place is a 5 star dump.

Was within a block of walking which was nice. Motel itself has
LOTS TO BE DESIRED .....
Had I been able to get a room elsewhere I would've. Did not unpack my suitcase ,nor walked barefoot on carpet.
Very old looks reminiscent of hotels
Hotels geared towards construction workers or oil and gas field workers.
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable and thought I didn't mind it as much until I seen the cockroach crawled across the floor. I brought that to the owner's attention and all she said is
"well we are in the middle of the jungle up here. "
I promptly dismantled the bed and it's covers checking for bedbugs which I did not find any.
However upon returning home everything is in the laundry immediately.
