Detailed Reviews
We booked a last minute stay at Sandy Beach Lodge & Resort in June. The representative with whom we dealt (I believe her name was Chris), was exceedingly helpful and friendly. Both the property and the cabin we rented were immaculate. I was travelling with my husband and 2 children and we had an amazing time. It was relaxing for us (we could just sit on our patio and look at the beautiful views) and fun for our children, who could walk out of our cabin and play on the beach and in the water. We had an amazing time there and we can't wait to return!

We stayed here for a week on the recommendation of our son. We were not disappointed. Although the resort is not cheap, it is worth every penny that you spend. We stayed in a wonderful waterfront cottage. It had all the amenities and was worth every penny. We got to go wine tasting and ride the Kettle Valley Railway for a few days. The best thing about this resort are the managers, Suzanne and Chris. Suzanne went out of her way to ensure that we had a cabin, then a better cabin, then the best cabin!! Thank you so much, Suzanne! We are returning next July for the gran fondo, can't wait!!

Very comfy, cozy and warm. Suzanne is a very sweet and caring host, and her staff are the same. The resort is very secluded. We had our own private beach and the view is incredible. We were offered a delicious breakfast that felt like home.

The resort is definitively worth it because of its location, wonderful views and amenities (canoe, ping-pong table, tennis courts), but the service is terrible.
Sadly, the owners are not there any more and the employees (a couple) that are "running" the hotel show no interest nor actual care for the place or its guests.
However, they do care about collecting their tips, since they did not forget to leave in our room not one but two envelopes for tips. Interestingly enough, they did not notice that:
(i) there were NO teas available (even though we had told them that we did NOT drink coffee but we liked Earl Grey tea),
(ii) they only left in the bathroom a tiny piece of soap that more than a soap resembled a piece of sand paper and it was almost gone after a hand wash;
(iii) they only left a tiny shampoo container that was barely enough to wash my long hair;
Needless to say, the next day we bought a very good quality soap (made by a Naramata neighbour of them!) and a decent shampoo.
(iv) breakfast was made and served in such a dry and carelessness fashion, and despite being in a fruit paradise, the fruit serving was lame and tasteless.
Pity that such a place is ran by people lacking so much love to give and share.

This is a lovely lodge in an idillic situation and my husband and I have been staying in the lodge at various times over the last 40 years. On our arrival this last August we were surprised to find that the kitchenette and BBQ facilities which had always been available to lodge guests had been removed. This year for lodge guests a set cooked breakfast was served at 9.15 sharp or not at all. The breakfasts were very good but plonked down by the manager (who was also the cook) without a smile or a 'good morning'. We found the hosts to be very dour. These hosts did not have the same interest in the upkeep of the grounds and equipment as we had previously found. There was initially 4 paddles for 3 canoes, but one was broken whilst we were there leaving 3 paddles for 3 boat - a very dangerous situation. The bolt was broken off the pool gate allowing little children free access. And if you wish to play table tennis - do take your own bat!

Sandy Beach Lodge is a beautiful gem. A quiet corner of paradise. We stayed in the B&B section of the lodge and would recommend this accommodation to anyone. It’s not fancy but certainly clean, quiet and has a beautiful view. The managers Sandra and Leo were awesome. There is a reason that folks come back year after year. This will be on are list again in the near future.

I have to say my experience was mediocre but perhaps this place just isn't for me. I was there for a wedding, The setting is lovely but it is a bit out of the way. I do find it over priced for what you get. Breakfast at the B&B is not served on Sunday so be prepared to find your own food. The management seemed a bit overwhelmed with any issues that arose though there are weddings there almost every weekend. It isn't a place that I would go back to anytime soon.

Just got back from our 26th year of mid-summer holidays at Sandy Beach, and it was a fabulous as ever. After all these years, we still wouldn't miss it for anything. Our kids grew up there with other families' kids, and our daughter still comes from Calgary to join us and reconnect with old friends. New managers Sandra and Leo met us with a lovely, warm welcome. They are wonderful hosts, and have assembled an excellent staff team--friendly, genuine, tirelessly helpful and caring, and clearly committed to maintaining the high standards we have come to expect. Nothing is too much trouble for them! The cottages are tasteful, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, and the grounds are gorgeous. A beautiful sandy beach and plenty of activities on site, for those who want to be active--it's absolutely ideal for toddlers to teens--which is exactly why so many families return year after year. At the same time, the atmosphere is quiet and low-key, and perfect for those who want to go for quiet walks or sink into a good book in the shade. Many wineries (some with excellent bistros), cycling routes, and artists' studios all within a few minutes drive. The setting, the accommodation, and the staff combine to create a little slice of holiday heaven.

My wife and I have been coming to the B and B Lodge at Sandy Beach for 9 years, and we have met a number of managers over that time. This is not meant to be a criticism of past managers, but the new managers, Sandra and Leo, have no equals, and frankly, this year's stay was the very best in our experience and this outstanding new management team was a major factor in the quality of our stay. Their instant likability and openness, their attention to detail and to the comfort of their guests, their charm and their expansive hospitality, the care they show to the resort and to each and every guest, their courteousness and conscientiousness, their supreme professionalism, and much more, all contributed to a stay for us that was never better. We felt like we were staying with old friends. And at last, morning coffee with depth and flavour, and that was actually worthy of drinking (a first for the lodge at Sandy Beach). Indeed, the breakfasts prepared were better than they have ever been. Simply stated, Sandra and Leo have brought renewal and a new appeal to Sandy Beach, especially the lodge. As always, the lodge rooms are extremely comfortable, and while one needs imagination and perhaps a higher degree in Engineering to manage the interior of the tiny box fridges in each room, the lodge accommodations are excellent and very well maintained--housekeeping is crack-shot. The sheer beauty and privacy of the setting, the ample amenities, the easy access to a beautiful beach, the prevailing sense of welcome, comfort and ease of the resort, and of course and especially, the new management, all contributed to a truly wonderful stay--as noted, our best ever at the resort. In our numerous and lively conversations with Sandra and/or Leo, it was clear that they were eager to hear any suggestions or ideas we might have for improvement. This was also a first for us in our years of visiting; that is, the management was keen to hear about our stay and take any suggestions we might have, and we were impressed with this truly thoughtful approach. Obviously, we booked for next year, and can't wait to return.

Sandy Beach Lodge is a gem! Whether you are renting the cabins or you stay at the Lodge (our first time at the lodge this July), you will not be disappointed. The grounds, cabins, lodge, and facilities are all kept in excellent condition. It is a high quality resort and very restful. Plenty to do and everything you need is right there. As well, it is a 5 minute walk into the village where there is an excellent restaurant. Wineries galore to explore and a short drive to Penticton. We loved it and will go back.
