We just returned from an Amazing Grizzly watch. But I wouldn't go as far as saying the Sportsman's Inn on the Harbour Front is a friendly place to stay. After your driving all day, you arrive. Only to find out you have to go to Guss's Pub to check in. Ok so I go there. It's busy there wasn't any signage to say go to the bar. They make you sign the waiver extra give you a key, tell you where to drop off said key the next day. Our room was clean until you looked. There was a knife found under one bed, stains on a pillow, no bedding for the pullout sofa I paid for. Tried calling the number no-one would pick-up. The staff downstairs, said unfortunatley their hands are tied. The staff at Guss's handles the calls, etc. After 1 hr of calling, the staff ( at the resturant ) did help us. The tables outside are resty, nasty seats. The door had at one time someone with broke in or tried to open the door with the swing arm out.Broken door, dirty coffee mugs, and coffee maker. The carpets, were nasty in the bedroom. Oh yes, they gave you 1 small shampoo and conditioner, when they know 4 people are staying. Really!!! Just saying not #1 as they may claim.

Doesn't appear like much on the outside, but this was a good stay. The room was clean and appeared recently renovated. The carpet was in need of cleaning or replacement, but otherwise everything else was very nice. It was odd to have to check in at the bar next door, but not a big deal. Would stay again.

Sportsman’s Inn Port McNeil Our first visit to this area. After a 3 hour drive we found a note on the door to check in at Gus Bar next door. We were met by Dana who told us she would not give us the keys until 3 pm. Her reasons was they had the clean the rooms from 11-2 so we can’t let you have the room early. We went back to our truck and spoke with the young lady Bree who was cleaning the rooms. We booked room #11 so she told us and showed us the room was never used so its good to go. She also went to the next level and walked over to let Dana know the room was ready. Dana told her they are not getting the key and she was too busy to check us in. At the time there were two customers in the bar and no one at the hotel. That was a very poor start to our experience, any Manager would have made concession especially when the hotel and bar were empty. We came back to Gus’s bar at 3 to check in and I asked for the owners information so I could speak with him. I also told her how nice she was to me on the phone so there was no need to treat us like this. She told me she was the Manager and there was no need to contact him because he will tell you the same thing. I went on to tell her that I was very upset on how she handled the whole ordeal. She told me that Bree had not been over and besides that we had left. I told her that both were not true and we were sitting in the parking lot basically shaking our heads. Several times she basically argued with me in front of several customers at the bar, gave me the owners card, gave me the key, told me no pets and checked out is at 11 super rude. Later on we find out from some locals that you can’t drink the water which she also failed to tell us. No signs or water in the room so we had to go and get our own. Room was very clean and nice just sad about how we were treated.

Don’t trust this place. We reserved a room for 2 nights - via Expedia Aug 5-7, 2021. When we showed up we were informed that they didn’t have a room for us and they tried to blame Expedia even though I had a confirmation number on me. It looked like a real dump too. Fortunately we did find a decent room at a different hotel in Port MacNeil.

Stayed here for two nights April 15-17 2021. Reception was completely closed and had to go to restaurant next door to check in which was a waitress giving us a key. The room was well appointed for a 2 star but there were coffee splatters down the wall onto the baseboard heater and the tv remote didn’t work so had to use the controls on the tv. Also the safety lock on the door had been pulled off leaving a damaged door jamb and not replaced. Tea/coffee supplies, mini fridge, microwave and nice bed linens. Big bathroom. First night was as expected from a 2 star motel. However when we came back the next day after a long day working the room had not been serviced at all. So we had no tea/coffee, no clean towels and no made bed. The reception was still closed and no phone in the room with contact numbers. The second night was a 0 stars. I know covid has made service difficult but I have not experienced anything like this before in other hotels this past year. This review is the only way I have of expressing my disappointment and concerns. I would have preferred talking to someone

The room was really clean with a spotless bathroom. Lots of space with a front room and separate bedroom area. The bathtub was full depth! Staff were all very friendly. The view from the balcony in the morning was gorgeous, and complimented by coffee for the coffee machine from a high quality company. It was also really quiet. The only weird thing was checking in at the bar, but understandable when it's a small town and you're running three businesses to keep afloat. Definitely would come back. Tried another place on my way back and not nearly as happy.
