Location, sunset, cleanliness, on-site delectable food, this place touches all the bases. We chose a rustic beachside site and (almost) felt like we had the place to ourselves. Kudos to the team operating Alder Bay. It’s a tough gig and they do a terrific job.

We LOVE Alder Bay, We come here as a family in the summer to enjoy the gorgeous setting and ocean activities. And we come back as couple in the off season for some peace and quiet and ultimate relaxation. Always something to see - eagles, bears, whales, cruiseships and gorgeous sunsets.

We stayed five days in June 2023. We travelled with our kids and grandkids in a motorhome and tent. We loved Alder Bay. The park is very well kept and is a stunning site looking over the waters of Johnstone Strait and the Island of Alert Bay. We used Alder Bay as a base for day trips to Quatsino Sound for salmon fishing and Telegraph Cove for ocean kayaking. Staff are friendly and accommodating. We'll be back.

Great location, especially if you have a boat too. Great moorage. The campground is well kept but it retained its natural beauty. The facilities are exceptionally clean, the staff super friendly and helpful. Another nice addition is the on-site restaurant with patio. There is room for any set-up , from large motorhomes to pretty tent sites at the beach. You have a view on the marina and Alert Bay across the water, where you can see work boats as well as cruise ships sail by. Short drive to Telegraph Cove and Port McNeil for shopping supplies.

The campground is very nice with great spots and water views. It was nice that Roxy's Diner was on site so we didn't have to go far to go out for dinner and a beer. Bathrooms were clean and showers had great water temperature and pressure. The staff was friendly. It took us 3 years to finally get here. Delays with Covid and border restraints put us behind in experiencing this great campground. The weather could have been a little warmer but other than that it was a great vacation!

Best place so far on our travels. We spent 8 days at this resort and it was such an amazing experience. Thanks to the owners Ryne and Rebecca and staff Vera, Julie and Roberta for your hospitality. The food truck on-site called Roxy's was excellent and very organized. The washroom facilities were well kept and clean. Awesome laundromat with plenty of washers and dryers. Bring loonies and toonies , they cost $3 per machine. Vera in the office was so very accommodating with changing our sites a few times and booking our whale tour for us. Gotta love her. We saw a pod of Orcas go by and got some great pics of that. You will see Sea Otters, Mink, eagles, heron, seals and plenty of crows and ravens. Put your food away 'cause they are ready to feed on whatever you leave out by mistake. Thank you to Ryne and Rebecca, the owners partnered with another couple for making us feel welcomed. We will be back.... PS. Wifi was spotty so that's why Vera booked our whale tour. Thanks again. Ann & Michele

What a great find to stay, enjoy and visit the great northern part of BC island! We loved the ways of the hosts and appreciated the brand new washer/dryer. We travelled around to very interesting place but it was amazing to come back to a safe place, by the water, with a beautiful view of the bay! Thanks!

This is a very large complex facing Alert Bay with the Reception and marina at the far end of the campsite. There is also a busy restaurant attached to the reception building. For that reason, there is a steady flow of traffic past the RVs much of the day and into the evening. It was unpleasant as a camper and probably dangerous for families with young children. The emphasis seems to be on rental cottages around the campsites that would not be subjected to the traffic.

Hello maureenw107: Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you found the activity at our RV Park not to your liking. Yes Alder Bay has a food truck and an active marina servicing the fisherman and other recreationists who come to be close to the water and enjoy the many activities on offer here. We have speed bumps on our main access road that keeps vehicles coming into the marina and parking area moving slowly. We also have ample signage to this effect. There are areas away from the main access road that can be quieter for that wish that. Our emphasis is not just on our cottage rentals but on providing all of our visitors with a friendly, welcoming, beautiful location to get out and explore the ocean and forests around us. But yes, indeed, as the weather gets nicer we do get busier. For those that are seeking solitude, there may be other spots more to their liking.
