Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed here for one night while RVing around B.C. The spots are clean and well maintained. We could see the river from our spot. For an RV spot with water and electricity we paid $38, and there were spots with full hookup as well.
The campground manager Doug really made this a pleasant visit, he raced over in his golf cart to give us the necessary information and get our information down for contact tracing. He was friendly, energetic and helpful. It was nice to see him and his family together at a campsite nearby.
During COVID, the showers and the games area are closed. Checkout is 11 am and there is firewood available for $8 a bundle.
As recommended by Doug, we took a short walk along the river in the morning, and saw lots of wood chewed down by beavers, and a lodge across the water.

One of the kindest caretakers. Both husband and wife are amazing, friendly and caring. Would easily recommend this spot. Surrounded by trails, access to the river, full service sites, and a fun playground.

This was one of our best places to stay. Check in was easy with the friendly campground host. We had a nice site for our pickup camper and the walk along the river on the path was beautiful. There’s a big play area for kids, a grassy open area for sports. The washrooms & showers were quite clean. We’d come here again!

My husband and I desperately needed a place to camp and sleep for the night. In our small self contained RV we did not need any services, just a safe parking place. The Smithers Municipal RV Park first said they had space, but when they realized we were US citizens passing through to our home in Alaska they said we needed to provide “proof of our essential travel”. While we could provide all kinds of identification proving our residence is Alaska they said that was insufficient proof. But they couldn’t tell us what the “proof” they wanted.

Can’t get too excited about 2 inch deep mud so bad that I drove my truck around and around so that when I opened the door I could step down in to grass! Fairly curious electrical distribution system such that when I switched off my single pedestal supply to leave the campground it also switched off the supply to a neighbor site with no indication of being connected. Had to use 4WD to leave the site with trailer due to steep and slippery exit road!

We headed West of Prince George in search of clean air after weeks of smoke from forest fires. We happened upon this campground with our kids--thinking we would prefer a provincial campground as we usually do--and fell in love with Riverside Park. The campground is bordered by a beautiful river on one side and forest on the other three sides. The campground itself does not have private sites, but we appreciated it in this location! The lack of trees allows for a view of the river and mountains, the warmth of a big blue sky, and creates a safe open space for kids to roam a bit. It also gives the campground a friendly feel as you get a sense of the other families there and may meet other travellers. The playground is absolutely lovely, the groundskeeping immaculate, the communal cooking/group eating area clean and tidy, there are very clean locked washrooms and lots of additional well-kept outhouses for tenters. There was no generator noise due to the availability of hookups, and the friendly caretakers run the site with great attention to safety, curfews, quiet times, and even have a locked gate. We loved the huge trail network which leaves the campground on both sides, lands you in town if you wish, or connects to many other more trails which seem to circle Smithers. It was fun to be able to bike or hike into town along the river interpretive trail. Smithers itself has a great selection of things to do for all ages if you are open to what a small city has to offer. We loved it so much we left our trailer in the site and will be returning next weekend for four more nights! We camp a lot, and this campsite is a gem!

We totally enjoyed this municipal campground. The setting along the river was very peaceful. The restrooms were adequate and the showers were good. We used their Wi-Fi to make more reservations. We are glad to have found it. Will stay there again.

Smithers Riverside Municipal Campground - Perfect little campground right in Smithers and along the river. Free wood, showers, water, electric, wifi! New mgmt in the last couple of years and this place is immaculate! They even clean out the BBQ pits! No hesitation in recommending this campground in Smithers, BC. Signed... past campground employee from different province...

The campsite is right near town. Well maintained and clean facilities. Not a ton a probably between campsites. They offer firewood. $21 a night for a tent. We stopped here for one night before heading to Babine.

We stayed at Riverside Park Municipal Campground and had the coldest shower we’ve ever experienced. We complained to the caretakers who stated it was something that they were aware of, they consistently get the same complaint and that yes it did need to be addressed. Duh! Then they gave us the number of the “manager” who said basically the same thing. WHY DO THEY ADVERTISE COMFORTABLE SHOWERS THEN?? We were originally planning on staying 2 nights but left after 1 as we figure the Town of Smithers doesn’t deserve our tourist dollars.
