As a long time resident of Sun Peaks in the winter, I decided to give this new residence a try, first red flag was they as for three months upfront.. first last and damage. but i love the people of sun peaks so i let that go. the rooms are tiny very small place to keep your belongings and only a stand up shower that if you eigh over 240 pounds you wont be able to fit. the second illegal red flag was that they charge tax which under b.c law you cannot due for anything over a month rental. When i decided to leave end of december I said ok fine keep my damage /secutiry deposit (another roomate had screwed up the counter as he burnt something) she said my room was a mess when i had never eaten there and only had one suitcase... i should have done a mmore thorough check as she claimed there was spots on my mattress which was ther from the last tenant is what i could only imagine. but i said ok fine i also had January paid for incase i wanted to come back and visit! NOPE!! Mandy kept that then moved a guy from the other room to my bed.. ive warned him and she decided to double dip on a bed that was already paid for! not to mention she decided to go into the grand with her beautiful golden retriever and feel the need to have dinner there while laughing at how she could charge whatever she wanted at the burfield residences because of the demand! BEWARE!!! and to all those currently staying in the hostel get YOUR TAX MONEY BACK! and lets make this place obey the LAWS!!!…
We stayed here for one night passing through from Whistler to Jasper. Very nice and friendly hostess who gave us all the information we needed. We were here in the off season so there wasn’t much activity which was fine for us because we were only staying for one night but the surroundings and the city looked really nice so we might come back in the season again!
Staff very welcoming and helpful, very clean, had a bed in a female POD with own Safe and shared bathroom and kitchenette. Snowboard storage room. Laundry room. Could order food shopping and meals at reception. Bus Stop outside or 20 min walk to village. As a solo female traveller I felt safe enough, stayed 8 nights.
The Burfield is the newest property I know on the mountain. The rooms are well laid out and ergonomically designed. Very functional, maybe the best I've seen at the resort for two or three people. The building is at the farthest location outside the village, across the street from the original Burfield Lift, which I understand is being replaced this next couple of years. It is a drive or a 35 minute hike from the centre of the village. Pricewise I found it expensive, it offers no Hot Tub or gym area, restaurant or bar so evening activity is limited to TV.... oops, did i say that? Funny, it reminds me more of a Hostel with TV's, I feel the pricing should reflect that. The staff was excellent, no complaints. Ill wait till the pricing comes in line, but I would definitely revisit once it does.…
Stayed here over Christmas 2018 in double room, which was much like a small flat. It had great cooking facilities in the room and also a really nice bathroom and shower. The bed was very comfy and had a big TV which you could log into Netflix on. Also nice communal lounge, although didn't need to use this as room was cosy to hang out in in the evening. Ski storage room was also very handy, however good idea to take a ski key lock (skikey.com) with you to use, otherwise you will have to pay to hire one for the week, didn't seen optional. Staff were lovely, very helpful and knowledgable. Burfield lift was 5 min walk away and bus stop also. Great place to stay, much recommend.
