This was the first time we've stayed in the actual village. There aren't enough cross country trails at Sun Peaks to keep us there for more than a day or two, so the thee night minimum of most rentals don't work for us. We were able to stay in unit 220 at the Fireside for just two nights (rental through Top of the Mountain Accommodations). It was clean, comfortable and had the best equipped kitchen I've seen in a vacation rental in a while. the king sized bed was very comfy and the bathroom has a nice, deep soaker tub, This unit was considerably less expensive than others in the building. It's quite small, but very cozy. Best for couples, I think. And there's no private hot tub, which isn't an issue for us, but there is one in the building for general use. Perfect location right in the village, and extremely convenient to the cross country trailhead - a 3 minute walk. Our two nights cost us less than a hotel room alone would have at most other places in the village.

We appreciate the updating with this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom ski in ski out condo situated right in the villiage.

The beds have just been replaced and there is a king and 2 queens.

3 TV's, 2 DVD's, and lots of movies on hand make this a family friendly condo.

2 weeks skiing trip to Sun Peaks. The hotel is made up of privately owned units, some for residence and others leased as holiday apartments through various accommodation companies. We booked through Bear Country and found the process very good.

We stayed in room 202 which was very good. The rooms are clean and well set-up. The rooms are not serviced, but linen and towel service is available every other day, this may not suit everybody but we were happy with the arrangement. If you want full hotel service, look elsewhere on the mountain. The room decot is not the most modern but everyything functions.

The location is great, true ski-in/ski-out and very good is you have a little one as it is close to village platter so when they get tired it is not far away.

Also, unlike other apartment accomodation, it has a full kitchen with a oven, some other apartments only have a stove. While we do eat out a couple of nights each week, we generally cook our own meals and an oven is so handy.

The only down-side to the room was that it was facing the road (Mt Morrisey) and early in the morning the snow clearing trucks could be heard.

We would recommend these apartments for their great location and value.

The place is well located it is the only reason why I gave it a 2. Be careful here. I am talking about 1 the building in general but also unit 103 where I stayed.
The building in general is maintained at a basic level. Floors are not cleaned regularly so is the elevator (controls/buttons). There is garbage in the garage that someone left there and it stayed there for more than 15 days. Kids have put ketchup on the wall by the elevator door, it took 5 days to get cleaned. Building is well located in the village and it is ski-in/ski-out. It is an old hotel that was converted into condos. It need lots of refreshing.
As for the unit 103 and I do t know about the other ones but this one is rated at 0 for me. The dishes are all broken, knives and forks are from the dollar store, the dishwasher is falling apart, barely any pots and pans to cook and has for the cleaning of the place well good luck. I found popcorn in the carpet, glass mirror doors have finger prints and streaks and same for the walls. Crumb in the drawers, kitchen cabinets are falling apart. There is so much dust under the furniture that I don’t even want to look under the bed. There is also moulds on the wall. This rental place needs to be renovated big time. It is definitely over price for what you get. It is a studio with one bed and a broken pull out sofa. Most of the bulbs are burned or not working.

Spent two weeks at Fireside Lodge, arrived via rented car from Vancouver. Rented car off-airport at Airport Hilton (Richmond, BC), despite name of hotel it is off-airport, reach with free shuttle.
Beautiful drive to Kamloops, then 45 minutes to Sun Peaks.
Accomodations just great, cafes/restaurants superb, shops above average. Scenery spectacular, golf course: final 9 still under construction. Staff very accomodating, parking inside. Sister lodge is the Hearthstone, almost next door. Returning in March 2004, that's the best recommendation. A real family spot in the mountains.

Hotel is in a good location however Unit 105 needs work.
Fridge makes a strange bang every time it shuts down, Kitchen is not well equipped: not enough cups, cutlery and cooking trays and pots and pans, no mugs etc. Oven was dirty. Dishwasher does not clean the dishes.

Vertical blinds for the patio are damaged. Closet door was broken . Dirty walls, no remote for dvd player. no wireless internet. No dresser in the bedroom and had to put clothes on the floor. Cannot have TV/ Internet and DVD plugged in at the same time as there are not enough plugs.

Bear country(property manager) was very inflexible in dealing with payment. They did not want to split the bill without incurring additional costs.

Think twice before renting this unit it is dated and needs work.

For a nicer hotel go to Cahilty Hotel across the street. Much nicer hotel like night and day.

The location of these apartments is fantastic: the last property on the main “pedestrian-street”. True ski in/out it takes 4 minutes to slowly ski down to the chair lifts in the morning (past all of the shops, cafes and restaurants). At night time the entire village is within a 10-minute walk: most of which is under cover. The supermarket is only a 3 minute walk.

We had a two bedroom apartment and it was a good size and the kitchen had all of the facilities you would require. The quality is slightly ‘basic’ and slightly worn, but still good. The pool in the complex is smallish (would seat 10 comfortably) and was a lovely heat. The two times we used it, no one else was in it. Heating in the apartment was good although the gas fireplace takes a while to warm up.

Staff of the complex are excellent to deal with and very flexible (although surprisingly there is no bag storage). The TV had approx 40 channels plus there was free DVD hire. We were also lent locks to secure our skis in the ski room.

Horrible on every level. So many maintenance issues like no power, muddy hot water that you cannot shower in and a lift broken for days on end. If TopOfTheMountain are your managers forget any sort of assistance, communication or professionalism. Avoid like the plague

We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo during our stay while participating in the Spartan Race. Not once during our 3 day stay were the towels replaced even when calling guest services. We were told housekeeping is done at 5pm and they would pass along a note. The price was fairly decent but due to lack of housekeeping I doubt i'll stay there again.

We arrived about 9pm Saturday night and the lodge rental office closes at 8pm so as agreed, they left our keys and info in an envelope taped to their office door. Unfortunately, neither key card worked. I called the emergency number provided and someone showed up in 10 minutes with new keys so our problem was solved quickly and efficiently and friendly. Great service but it would definately be better if the owner of this condo switched to a combination kay pad as these key cards are notorious for not working. The accomodation was very good; fairly clean and well equiped and a great location right on the edge of the village.
