Room was mouse infested, mouse feces under the sink, and my kid watched one run across the room. Egg yolk baked on the plates, burnt food on the fry pan, had to scrape the left over food off the spatula with a knife, and my girlfriend opened a towel off the rack and found a big clump of hair in it. Do Not Waste Money on this Property, if you dont want to be dissapointed.

The lodge is situated in the middle of the Village. The location is convenient to shops, restaurants, and ski lifts. Check-in was pleasant and welcoming. We were able to store our luggage as we arrived early, and our room was not ready. We were booked into room 405 through Bear County. The photographs on the website are accurate. There is a small kitchen with basic cooking utensils which like most lodges are cheap but adequate. The bed did not have a mattress protector on it which we found not to be hygienic. The sheets were also ill fitting and constantly popped off the corner of the mattress. The bedding needs attention as it is hard to relax when you do not have confidence in the cleanliness of the bedding. Other than that, the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The ski/snowboard locker room is inadequate. It consists of ski and snowboard lockable racks, but room is tight and crowded. There is more chance of winning the lottery than finding a spare rack for your snowboard. Skiers would have more luck. This lodge has potential but the at the price of around $CA300 per night including taxes and charges, for what it is, there are better valued accommodation options available.

We love the cozy warm feel of hearthstone. We have stayed at 2 other hotels in sun peaks and much prefer this. We returned for a second year. Unfortunately our first night also coincided with the plumbing lack of hot water problem that others have referred too. We received an email and phone call the next day and credit for the night. The issue was all fixed the next day. I was impressed by bear company’s positive response. We will be back next year.

We stayed here last year and gave it a 4/5 rating. This years stay of eight nights was a bit of a disaster to be honest, but I will come to that shortly. Like last year this property has many good points. Ski in ski out central location close to the chair lifts and restaurants/shops/bars. The room was warm and clean yet a bit tired. There is also a somewhat cramped room to store your skis and boards. Right, now onto the disaster. Four days with no hot water in our bathroom. Depending on which staff member you ask, 5 or 10 rooms were affected due to a plumbing issue and ours was one of them. We were told by the front desk staff we could use the gym shower which had hot water. The problem was this was located two floors below us and was also being used by the other rooms with no hot water and the gym/spa users. If we had wanted a shared bathroom experience we would have booked at a hostel and not paid the premium to stay here. The staff did not really seem to care about the issue and were completely non- proactive when it came to updating us as to what was happening. They told us they were booked solid and unable to move us or other guests to empty rooms. No compensation of any form was offered to us to during this four day hot water outage. If we had not had the hot water issue then this review would be very different. However, I only review on what we encountered during our stay and not what might have or could have been. Next time we return to Sun Peaks we will be looking at a different accommodation provider, we will not be coming back to Hearthstone Lodge.

We have not had hot water for either shower or washing for 4 days. We have spoken with the front desk at least 3 times daily since arrival. Staff at front desk continue suggest we should shower at the fitness centre in the hotel, which we have done for the past 4 days. They don't seem to think the lack of hot water is important. Apparently maintenance staff is unable to find the cause of the problem. Management has neither contacted us to express sympathy, nor let us know what is happening, nor offered a monetary compensation.
