We wanted to stay over one night in Kenora with our two dogs and coukd find no hotels anywhere near that area. This was a close as we could find available (1.5 hrs west of Kenora). It is older and the beds need replacing but the staff were very friendly. Staff also ran the restaurant attached which had great food and service. Would definitely recommend it for eating and would stay here again for one night if we couldn’t find anything again where we wanted to end our road trip for the night. Note at the bar said rates were going up Sep 2022 fyi.

Meat lovers Pizza was so salty I had to get my blood pressure checked and there was no T.V to watch in the bar. Plenty of VLT's now instead of entertainment and the bar closed at 10' O'clock ..parking lot looked like it was bombed...great place to stop if you sleep in your rig.

I was on my way back to Ontario with my dog after our rafting business got washed away in the flooding south of Calgary. I had stayed at an expensive generic chain motel the night before and had had my fill of fast food. This place looked promising due to all the trucks and transports parked outside. Truckers usually know good places to eat and stay. The staff was very friendly, the motel was pet friendly, and I got a room that was in the new section detached from the main building. The room was very nice, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the flat screen TV got tons of channels. I had a delicious steak dinner in the cafe, with garlic toast, fries, a salad and a draft beer and the bill was $16. No complaints from me, this was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again.

We ended up staying at the Richer Inn for a night since we had an event close by. You are welcomed into the room with a buttload of wood accents. Do not light a candle at this place. Everything is wood. I would also keep your shoes on, everything seems sticky. Going for dinner at the restaurant was alright. The food was great. The service was awful. Everything we ordered was always wrong. Literally everything. But the waitress was very nice and friendly. The best part? The lot lizard that wouldn't leave us alone. She was so adamant about talking to every guy in our group. And then rude and nasty to the woman in our group. She was such a treat to deal with. What an experience. We will say for sure, not a chance we will be coming back. Sorry Richer. You been fun.

As you drive down the Trans Canada highway east of Winnipeg, you'll drive by a big sign that says Richer Inn Motor Hotel. Take my advice and keep on driving. When I called to book a room, I noticed that there was live music at the bar that night. The person on the phone assured me that we wouldn't be able to hear it because there was a restaurant between the bar and the motel. Unfortunately, there is an open hallway connecting the bar and restaurant, and one door was not enough to block more than a few decibels of the loud country music coming from the pub.

Aside from the music, the staff seemed inconvenienced that we wanted to stay there, and even more inconvenienced when we asked for an extra blanket just as they were about to leave for the night. If you need anything after 10 PM, you're out of luck because there is no one on staff after that.

As for the beds, I don't know how old they are, but we could feel every spring in our backs, and hear them creak with every sleepless toss and turn.

All in all, the Richer Inn was the poorest hotel on our trip. If you're traveling east of Winnipeg, keep on driving. You won't do worse than the Richer Inn.

We stopped in for lunch on our cross Canada trip. It is a truck stop so we had lots of room to park our RV while we ate. Lunch was really good. The home made soup and huge sandwich was more than I could finish but it was delicious. The staff are really friendly and efficient. And the bathroom was really clean.

Coming back from the lake, we had noticed the catching name of the place and noticed the always busy truck stop. so we decided to try it out for dinner. and wow, was that a lucky break. No kidding they had a 8 oz Top Sirloin for $14.75 and not just that loaded with unions and mushrooms, fries, and eggs, now that is what they call a truckers meal.
Friendly service but a bit busy, no wonder they where taking "Take out orders" too, but when the food arrived it was an unbelievable treat.
It will be our stopover this summer on many occasions that is for sure.
Nice clean place with friendly service and unbelievable good affordable food.

Pleasantly surprised when we first walked into the room.. furnishings seemed ok and the room looked recently renovated..then little black bugs appeared on the night stand, the bed had springs sticking out of the mattress and there was a musty smell. Worst of all were the paper thin walls. We could hear the drunken couple next door come in after the bar closed..they were arguing and the lady was crying for a couple of hours, till about 4 in the morning. We could hear very clearly. My husband stated he should have kept driving......would not recommend.

Sat in the parking lot from 1045 to 1145. The vacancy sign was on, but no one would answer the after hours line. A very frustrating experience. I was quite surprised by this experience, as they apparently cater to truckers, yet you can't get a hold of anyone to check in.
