I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! We stayed in the Alma Shore Retreat. An entire house to ourselves. The place was immaculate. It had everything we could ever need. Kitchen had plenty of dishes, pots and pans cleaning supplies, sugar, flour, paper towels and much more. Alma was under a boil water order and she even supplied drinking water for us. Had a nice fire pit outside and picnic table. Also had a gas grill with propane provided and a charcoal grill. Chairs were also available for sitting around the campfire.

Our daughter was camping in Fundy Park (yes in April) so we wanted to stay near by. We booked directly with the owners and not through the online site.
Room was very large. Table and chair for two. Dishes, bar fridge and microwave. Queen Bed was very comfortable with nice pillows and linens. Nice electric fireplace and large tv. Bathroom was very modern and clean. They supplied toiletries and a hairdryer. You can also get access to a kitchen if needed. I was surprised to see other cars in the parking lot in the morning, we didn’t hear anyone else coming in. There’s a fire pit and bbq for communal use. We walked to the restaurant next door. Great lobster rolls! Then strolled the beach. Only complaint was it was too quiet. I had to turn the table fan on during the night....

Response from Catherine MacDonald, Owner at Alma Shore Lane Suites & Cottages

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us! When you book directly with us, by phone or through our website, almashorelane.com, you are guaranteed to get the best rate. We are open all year round and the electric fireplaces have been newly added to provide some extra comfort and coziness to our suites and cottages. One of our cottages also features a real wood fireplace! Though Alma Is quiet in the winter, the snow promotes fantastic scenery, crisp views of the Bay, and Fundy Park offers excellent snowshoeing, cross country skiing and often uninterrupted trails throughout. For a little more activity and excitement, come again in the summer months when the Lobster season, the restaurants, gift shops, golf course, and all the local attractions are open and ready to welcome you and your family.

Had a fantastic staycation at Alma Shore Lane Cottage. It was cozy and so close to the beach and the Lobster Shop. Oh the Lobster Shop not only was it delicious but they even took the time to carry over our meals to us at the cottage. So amazing when you have kids. The hospitality of this place was amazing. They asked how we were doing several times over the course of two days. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the lovey people and the wonderful cottage on the beach. We will be back.

We selected Alma Shore Lane Suites and Cottages based on availability; there aren’t a lot of places to stay in Alma, even when booking over four months out.

Our “suite” was the Lobster Den. Not really a suite, more of an average size, basic motel room with a small sofa and a barely functional kitchenette.

The “kitchenette” included a small dorm size refrigerator, which was very noisy with constant near death sounding thuds, gurgles, and wheezing; a small under powered microwave; and a barely functioning Krueg coffeemaker (not a Krueg fan). A good amount of flatware, glasses, bowls and plates are provided, but no counter space for preparation. There isn’t a kitchen sink, so water would normally be sourced from the bathroom, except Alma is under almost constant boil water restrictions, so a five gallon water dispenser is provided. It’s easier to get water for kitchen use from the dispenser, but it took up the only possible kitchenette working space.

The bathroom is small and basic with no counter space.

The Lobster Den has NO air circulation to speak of and no air conditioning. Windows barely open and one wouldn’t close. ( I will also note, even though we we were there in stifling summer heat and humidity, I saw no source of room heating, except maybe the fake plug-in electric fireplace . ) A provided floor fan was broken.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beach cottage . It was clean, well appointed, comfy beds and furniture. Everything you need in the kitchen and wonderful shower in bathroom. We particularly appreciated it was pet friendly ! Out border collie enjoyed the closeness to the beach for great walks! Every detail is taken into account to make your visit enjoyable. It was just what we needed and I would highly recommend it!

We stayed in The Lookout suite on the 2nd floor. It had two bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed. I was able to email with a question and received an answer very fast. We did not meet the owners but had a lovely welcome sign at our door. Was able to walk out a short distance to get to the Bay of Fundy. At low tide you could see and walk out so far it was amazing. Our suite was so roomy and comfortable. Would recommend.

Convenient to town and nicely appointed, we stopped in here for a couple of nights and loved that each unit had all the basics looked after, along with a small outside area, but the convenience to downtown is fabulous.

What a gem of a find this place was...clean, comfortable, really nice looking! A small walk to the beach and into Alma for dinner. There was no one above us so we had a quiet night. Beds are very comfy. And it is a perfect location to Hopewell Rocks to the Bay of Fundy National Park. We only stayed one night, a shame but we will be back. Thank you to Chelsea.

We stayed in the Captain’s Quarters & were very pleased. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfy bed, also had a microwave, fridge, toaster, dishes, silverware, Keurig with coffee. We loved that there was a very comfy loveseat and table & chairs in the spacious room. Nice deck with a table & chairs.
This village of Alma was amazing & from our room we could walk to everything, from the Alma Lobster Shop, to the Holy Whale Brewing Co, Tides Restaurant, the general store, bakery & other restaurants. This village is one of the best places to experience the incredible tides on the Bay of Fundy! At low tide we could walk out for almost a mile. The Hopewell Rocks are about 30 minutes away and the Fundy National Park is 5 minutes away. We would highly recommend staying in the Captain’s Quarters. We were fortunate to meet the owners and they are lovely! We throughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return someday.

You cannot beat this location. If you aren't camping in the park, this is ideal. It's right beside the beach/tides and being able to explore when the tide went out with a 2 minute walk from the hotel was perfect. Also a 5 minute walk to many restaurants and the convenience store/gas station for anything you may need. Great brewery at the top of the road as well (Holy Whale)! Right beside Bay of Fundy National Park, and also only a short/easy drive to Hopewell Rocks.
The room was average, nothing special but did the trick. However, if you are on the bottom floor (scallop room and lobster room) hope that you are on the same schedule as those in the two bedroom apartment upstairs. It is extremely loud! And considering it's two bedroom, there are likely always many people upstairs. We had a family of 4, very nice, and no fault of their own, but when they decided to pack up and leave at 6am with rolling suitcases it was a bit disappointing when you're trying to relax on vacation. Maybe there needs to be a note in that apartment to suggest walking lightly or to be courteous of your guests downstairs? Or some added carpets? The two bedroom apartment and "private entrance" room wouldn't have noise issues though I'm sure.

How far are you from the beach.thank you
Answer from almalobstershop
Alma, Canada6 contributions3 helpful votes
Our property is shore front, but it includes the lobster shop. So depending on which property you are at it’s within 3-500 feet of the shore. Close enough for morning beach walks, evening beach fires.
